I booked The Ridge via booking.com and will never go there again. We arrived late due to airline delays and when we arrived were not able to get into the room. Their “contactless” check-in process was that they sent us a code to enter the building and one to enter the room. The front door code worked, the room code didn’t. We were stuck in the hallway. I called the number provided and a person answered but said she couldn’t get into the computer. I asked what she was going to do and she hung up and never answered again. Our repeated attempts to call and text were not successful and we spent all night in the basement community room. No access code for the bathroom. In the morning they gave us a new door code and promised a refund. We never got it. They claimed it was refunded but we never got it. My credit card company wouldn’t help because the hotel had required full payment upon booking, several months in advance. The bank said we had to dispute the charge within 60 days, but our arrival was 3 months after the booking date. The room was impossibly small. And overall the hotel is substandard. And unethical. Don’t go there!

Good clean bathroom and room. Double bed quite comfy tight against one wall, with TV, fridge, wardrobe, microwave, on the remaining side so room for one person at a time to move past. Iron and hairdryer in the room. We were at the side of the building and it was quiet enough with the window closed. Front rooms overlook a nightclub! No staff in the building, though occasionally someone would be sitting at the front desk. Check-in details received 24 hours by email as promised - all done by door codes. Coffee granules supplied but no tea, milk or robes (as promised) found. Communal room in basement with more coffee and TV , microwave etc.

Booked because it was cheap and close to the LES. Room was boiling hot and the air con wasn’t working. Guy at reception said something is wrong with it and others complained, but he already gave all the fans he had away. It was also insanely loud in the room even if window was closed. Psychotic car honking for hours and people on street were so loud. I used to live in nyc for 10 years and I don’t recall it ever being this horrible. It was impossible to sleep so my boyfriend and I left at 2am and I drove my car home in an awful rainstorm. I fridge and microwave could come in handy. But I only recommend staying here if you are under 25 and plan on being insanely wasted when you get back to the room and then maybe you’ll sleep and not care about anything else.

I stayed here for one night in January 2024. I was curious to see the inside after watching them build it not too long ago, when I still lived in the neighborhood. I was in total amazement to see how much it is already falling apart. I booked a room with a full sized bed. There's a lot of stuff (tv, mini fridge, microwave, luggage rack) which is helpful but the room was in very poor condition. Very poor lighting in both the bedroom and bathroom. The laminate on my single folding side table was peeling off. One of the two hooks on the back of the bathroom door was missing. The shelf over the toilet was missing (empty brackets still attached to the wall). The sconces next to the bed looked like they were about to fall off the wall. There were random wall anchors with nothing attached to them that I initially thought were bugs. (No bugs!) Beaten up cabinets. Some shady looking ceiling tiles in the bathroom. Two outlets next to the bed but three phone jacks?! The bed itself sounded like it might have collapsed underneath me. A little thing but to add to the mix, the art wasn't even centered over the bed. Lol. The inside of the safe was randomly on top of the freestanding closet. I could also hear every single person in the hall -- full conversations -- and quite a bit of traffic from Houston St. These owners clearly don't care whatsoever for this property and did things as cheaply as possible. The hotel is however safe, secure, and relatively clean. If you get a stellar (under $100 per night including taxes) deal and are searching for an efficiency hotel, this is a great location. I'm in NYC for work weekly and I will not stay here again, despite that. It's basically a hostel with private rooms.

Very nice but a little pricey hotel in the middle of everything…all things related to Ground Zero, subway station close by for those who want to experience that, city buses everywhere. The room was small but it served my purpose which was to sleep and shower! It was very clean. The bed and pillows were also very comfortable. Brian was at the front desk and he was absolutely wonderful. He let me hang out with him while waiting for my room to be finished and for my Uber ride to the airport. Great place to stay from my experience. I do wish they had vending machines downstairs and maybe offer a breakfast down there as well.

Nice little boutique hotel. Some upscale amenities. I will say to the negative that they say each room is individually temperature controlled and that is a bit misleading. Yes, you can control the temperature in your room but they only turn the heat and AC on by season. I got into my room on a particularly cold/rainy late Sept. day and it was 67 in the room. I turned the heat on which made no difference. Turns out that there was no heat on yet even though the thermostat said "Heat" (they only turn the boiler on once the temp is below 50). My "heat" was AC. There is a nice little public area in the basement which was lovely to play cards with my son, who I was visiting. No space for cards in these small rooms. There is also a lovely roof top area for times of nice weather. Jasmine at the front desk was wonderful (some other staff no so much...).

This hotel is in the East Village. I chose this hotel because it was close to my daughter’s apartment and am glad my husband and I stayed here. Queen sized bed with comfortable linens and the room and bath was immaculately clean. Would stay here again. Very close to Russ and Daughters as well as Katz’s Delicatessen. The room is small as typical in NYC but quite comfortable

I have four major complaints, each of which is independently reason enough to never stay at The Ridge again. 1 - A Standard Double on Booking.com (a “Full” room in Ridge terminology) claims to be 200 square feet, 50% more than the actual area of 130 square feet. I verified this with a measuring tape. 200 square feet is not a rounding error, it is fraud! The total area includes shower, toilet, bed, etc., by the way, not space to move around. Walking space, including in the bathroom, is about 60-65 square feet. 2 – When I called the hotel (there are no live people; the hotel provides “touchless” service) to point out the discrepancy between actual and stated size, I asked if I could move to a room that was closer to the advertised 200 square feet. The employee agreed to move me the next day. So, I packed up the next morning and left my things to be transferred to a new room – which turned out to be exactly same size! 3 – The first room got too hot (77 degrees); however, the new room was hotter. I woke up sweating at 2:30 am to blasting hot air and a temperature of 86 degrees and rising! Only by running an air conditioning unit 24 hours a day was I able to get the room down to the lower 70’s – while the temperature ranged from 42 to 55 degrees outside. If the room overheats that badly in the fall, what would it be like in the summer? 4 – The bed was so hard, I had to put an inflatable pillow under my hip bone to sleep on my side. I could go on about lower-priority complaints, like the tedious online check-in process, lack of table and chair (though “all rooms have them”, I was told on the phone), harsh lighting, lack of decaf coffee, inconvenient outlets, and cheap construction, but none of these were deal-breakers like the four issues described above. When in NYC, find yourself an ethically run hotel that covers all the basics and delivers on its promises – not The Ridge!

Budget hotel room with hefty cost! Paid $1300 for 3 nights. Rooms were dirty. Toilet kept blocking. Duvet had no cover on! Room and bed was tiny and had paid for a queen room! Expected more for such a cost! Nobody ever working in the hotel or reception. Was unable to leave luggage in storage as our flight wasn’t until 18:45.

Our 5 night booking in June 2020, as part of a tour of the U.S. was overtaken by Covid. I had booked direct with the hotel and they refused a refund, giving us a 1 year credit. All my other hotel bookings for that trip were booked through booking.com and refunded in full. It was not possible to use the credit by June 2021 so after some dispute the hotel reluctantly agreed to extend the credit to June 2022. It has been difficult if not impossible to travel to the U.S. in the last year so I requested another extension. This was flatly refused. I wanted to make a 10 night booking for August 2022 which would have cost a fair bit more than our credit but even this short extension to the credit was refused. The reception desk often doesn't answer emails so we ended up having to make an expensive call in an (unsuccessful) effort to sort it out. We feel we have been robbed to the tune of around £800. Beware!
