This is for all the negative posters most of which I see are from out of the country. First off, do your HOMEWORK! Wow! Can't believe the other reviews. We travel to the city a lot and generally stay here. (about 20 times). Let's put some stuff in perspective: 1) It's a motor inn. Rooms are a little small but bathroom is huge. Always been clean. Has great AC/fan unit. Beds are comfy. Parking can be a pain. 2) If you choose to stay on Lombard, you can expect some noise. Best rooms are in the back off the alley off of Frankllin. 3) Absolutely great location. Next to two major bus lines. We park our car and never touch it again. Walking distance to the Wharf (if that's your thing), Marina district (great restaurants) & Union Street. We've walked the streets at all hours (NYE

At $56 a night, this hotel was good value for money. The room was a decent size and the bed was comfortable and very wide. The bathroom was large and clean. The cable tv and internet worked well. The staff were great with helping us find our way around the city. It is in a very quiet area of SF, without many shops or food options in the immediate vicinity. The city centre was larger than we imagined, and with the hills it took too long to walk anywhere. However, public transport is only a block away on Van Ness St. I didn't like the people smoking on the balcony outside the room, as the smell kept wafting inside even with the window closed. We did occasionally smell marijuana, but we soon learned that this is common throughout SF! The continental breakfast was too sugary for my

This hotel was great FOR THE PRICE, remember this is a 2 star hotel. We got a great deal on it. The rooms were spacious and the bathroom was almost as big as the room. Traffic was loud but if you put on the fan it drowned everything out. This hotel seems to get a lot of bad reviews, I'm not sure if they are old or not but I don't have any major complaints about it. Also alot of the bad reviews seem to come from out of state/country. As a frequent visitor to SF I will be staying here again! Staff wasn't overly exuberant, but definitely friendly. It is walking distance to the Warf, and a nice neighborhood. I wasn't asked for change once! Even at night there were women walking around by themselves (the seemed to be locals). I have 2 downsides to this place and they are minor.

We recently stayed 4 nights at this hotel. We are retirees always looking for a good location and good value. This hotel is on the famous Lombard street and is walking distance to Fisherman's Wharf and the Union Street shopping area as well as a number of restaurants. There is a simple continental breakfast included with OJ, hot chocolate and unfortunately instant coffee. The rooms were clean and included a microwave, coffee maker and dorm size refrigerator. The staff was pleasant and the check in/out were a breeze. The only downside I would say is the street is a bit noisy early in the morning, but it is quiet at night. For a king size bed at $69.00 and free parking in a major city it was a good value and location.

I read some bad reviews on this place before I went, but I was just looking for an inexpensive place to stay near the wharf, Simple, clean, comfortable describe this place to a T. It even has free parking which is a BIG deal in this area. You are in easy walking distance of all the tourist areas on the waterfront without all the cost. I also read the staff was unfriendly. I didn't find that at all . They gave me a nice quiet room and helped me park so I wouldn't get hemmed in. Upon checking out, they asked me if everything was all right. Room was dated but very clean and comfortable. Bathroom was HUGE and clean. If you want glamour, this place is not for you. If you want to save your money for all the fun in SF, then give it a try for a very good bargain

During our stay, we came across with the most unfriendly check-in counter there - rude, impolite, and a don't-care-attitude. We found that she was trying her best NOT TO fulfill our needs, so that she could do less. The price was standard, but the room was not. The sheets were old and mushy, and as soon as we turn the blanket, a very unpleasant smell released out, and we HAD TO bare with it for the whole night. We chose this place for money, but if we could make our decision again, we'd rather pay more for a better memory. I suggested all my friends to stay out of this one.

This hotel was chosen because the price, about $64, sounded great and we didn't have to pay for overnight parking, which you will be asked to do at many other motels and hotels- from $26 to $50! Unfortunately, we were given the absolute worst room, even though we arrived at 3PM. When I tried to change the room to another, I was told that the other rooms were being held for others who has specified THOSE rooms (not believable). So we had to listen to traffic all night and the bed was so lumpy and old, that both of us rolled into each in the center no matter what we did. No mattress cover was to be found and the toilet did not work properly! I had to request a luggage rack for my suitcase so it wouldn't touch the floor and risk bed bugs on top of everything else! The

This has to be the worst hotel we have ever stayed in for a number of reasons, firstly the noise from the traffic all through the night meant that we could not sleep for our 3 night stay, we had to buy ear plugs and even with those in, we were woken around 5 am every day as the traffic started. secondly the hotel seems to be family run, the lady was pleasant and helpful but her husband dealt with us with contempt every time we asked a question. He answered the phone with 'what' and the worst experience was when we asked if they had safety deposit boxes he said yes but when we went to the reception with our valuables it was clear he was just going to put them in the back room which was where the whole family lived. When i asked for some sort of receipt he said i was accusing him

stayed here for 3 nights and wish we had paid another $100 and gone closer to the whalf..rooms very basic , no wardrobe as such , the place to hang clothes was above the fridge and coffee machine. receptionist ok if you were booking a coach tour but couldnt get a taxi call out of them. on the map it looks close to the whalf but its 20 mins walk up and down the hills so find somewhere closer!

My husband and I wanted to take our 2 kids (6 and 3) for the night to S.F. but didnt want to spend a lot. I read the reviews and since most were good on the clean factor I decided to book. When we got there at 2pm there were numerous parking places still available and the lobby was empty. The girl at the front desk was pleasant and I enjoyed a quick funny conversation with her. We were given the key to room 203. When we opened the door I was pleasantly surprised there was no odor and the room was clean. The kids quickly noticed a huge window with a large tiled window seat. That became their post for the length of the stay. The room size was just fine for us and the bathroom was huge. The room was clean and was fairly quiet. The traffic on Lombard died down about 10pm and
