Expectation management is key if you decide to stay at the Kudar. It might be the most affordable thing in town, but make sure to set low expectations. Let’s start with the pros … it’s right in the middle of town near everything. When available, the staff were friendly and helpful. When price shopping, it is affordable compared to other options, which based on availability during our stay, other lodging costs over $325 per night. If you decide to stay here, just set your expectations really, really low. The cons … the motel is old and tired. The value doesn’t equate to a good experience by normal standards, but by Jackson Hole standards, this might be a good deal. For the $180 spent for a king bed in the motel portion, the accommodations were basic at best. The bed was squeaky and worn out, the pillows, if you can call them that, were the cheapest I’ve ever had the pleasure of experiencing, and we only had one towel and hand towel in the room when we checked in. We had to go to the front desk to get more. I guess the room was clean … it was hard to tell. If you need A/C, good luck. Kudar may have had it’s heyday 40 years ago, but now it’s just a run-down motel. As a warning, if you’re expecting a great experience for the $180 cost, you might be disappointed. To clarify, we stayed in the motel portion, not the cabins. That might be a different experience. We’ve stayed in quaint little motels in small towns before, and had a great experience. Unfortunately, the Kudar didn’t deliver. There is potential there, but it seems they gave up years ago. I understand you aren’t coming to Jackson Hole for the lodging, and if you’re only staying a night or two, who knows, maybe you can survive the experience ……
