I've stayed over 1000 nights at this location during many stays, so this review comes with some experience at the location. It has always provided a great executive experience - clean, well-maintained, well-stocked kitchens, on-site dry cleaning and convenience store, a great shuttle service to the metro and government offices, and a friendly staff. When one is in an area for a short stay, it is so nice to have someplace feel like home, providing you will all you need in a small package - this is the heart of executive stay hotels. Oakwood was always my first choice when staying in the Washington DC area. This trip showed a different Oakwood Executive experience, and one that does not speak well of this location or of Oakwood as a company. Upon arrival, there was no staff to welcome me, but a self-service lock box to pick up my own key. However, the emailed directions were to look for a fence in front of the main lobby for the lock box. As it happens, that area was blocked by construction when I arrived, so there was no way to actually get the key. There was no one to assist, leaving me to wander aimlessly with my bags outdoors in the heat. After finally finding the hidden area after the construction crew moved away, I learned that my stay had been booked incorrectly, several days short of my intended length, contrary to an email confirmation I'd received. However, without reception staff to help out, I had to rely on remote phone service to address the concern. Unfortunately, Oakwood was unable to confirm any changes to my reservation by phone, either positively or negatively, deferring to a third party, and letting me know they would need to get back to me. I'm into the second day of my stay and have heard nothing. As it turns out, the error in my stay length is fortunate, as the facility is not only without reception staff at present, but also not well supervised in the area of cleanliness or maintenance. My room smells, a strong musty, ammonia smell, that is forcing me outside. I'm fairly certain my sheets weren't cleaned from the last guest. I'm now up at 4 a.m. as a tractor starts work on the construction project in the courtyard. That Oakwood had also provided me with the wrong Wifi password (by email of course), with no clear way to resolve it, seems minor in comparison. Some allowances must be made for the massive reconstruction project that the facility has ongoing. The property has been rebranded (Falls Green is the new name), and there is an unclear relationship between the old and the new. It is understandable that there will be growing pains during transition. So, early morning tractor noises, and disruption in physical space during construction I can understand. I can do without the pool, and walkways, and convenience store and dry cleaner. However, when Oakwood cannot provide basic levels of support, like reception staff, clean rooms, correct booking, and ability to respond to basic customer needs, they really should have made the decision to close down the location and cease pretending to offer executive lodging. That they did not, and feel that this experience is acceptable for their guests, is quite telling of the company, I'm afraid. As a corporation, a decision was made, one that is putting me into meetings in three hours, after an international flight, without having the benefit of sleep. My next 1000+ hotel nights will be elsewhere.

Oakwood is a great option for a hotel close to DC. Since it is extended stay / apartment complex, there are lots of amenities, actives and all the comforts of home. The studio was well laid out and bigger than a normal hotel room. There is a pool, workout room, tennis courts, volleyball court, playground and wonderful family atmosphere! It is a short walk (or take the free shuttle) to the DC metro and then an easy 25 minute ride to the National Mall or similar areas. Will definitely consider staying here again

Oakwood has seen better days. Even when I first saw the property in 2006 it looked tired and old. It reminded me of an elderly woman in need of a serious facelift.I stayed here for six weeks in a musty studio apartment after filling out a mountain of paperwork. The bathroom must have been designed for a midget it was that small. Shabby furniture and I spent a small fortune for my stay. Oakwood made the "free breakfast" on Sundays sound like King Henry's Feast. After paying $6,000 for my stay I think Oakwood got the better part of the deal.Never again! There bread and butter are their lucrative government accounts.

If you are traveling with your family or a group, this might be an excellent place to stay. I was a bit warried because of some other members comments but after my stay there, I guess the management and staff of this property deserve to be thankful. I can tell that the staff are doing their best to make residents happy and comfortable as much as they can and I was so satisfied considering the rate I've paid which was real valuable to me. Location is so close to all what you need but still, a private/ rental car will be a plus and will be real helpful to explorer the area and visit all possible attractions.

These are apartments. So, if you are not expecting amenities and just want a nice place to stay where you can cook your own food and be autonomous, then this is for yoU. We stayed in a 1 bedroom apartment in building C. It was a basic apartment, but had a washer dryer and a dishwasher. It was VERY nice . We ill consider it again. It was central to everything we needed

The Oakwood Falls Church,VA was clean, had a lot of features including free shuttle to the DC Metro, with shopping and restaurants within the walking distance. We had a lots of things to do didn't get to see it all and wish the trip was longer and in warmer weather.

Hotels downtown are excessively priced, so we began looking further from the traditional tourist areas. This is an apartment complex where people live full time, but a few apartments are reserved for short term guests. We rented a 1 bedroom ground floor apartment that included everything needed to feel at home. The staff was friendly and helpful. Mandy does a fine job making sure guests are checked in and satisfied. The East Falls Church Metro station is about a half mile down the hill, in the center of I-66. The Oakwood shuttle runs regularly to the Metro station if you don't feel like walking. No problems with access, the walk is safe and secure via sidewalks. It takes about 15 minutes via the train to reach Metro Central, very convenient to the National Mall. Finally, the Vietnamese market next door is an eye opener. We bought groceries there, but would not do it again. There is a very clean Shoppers Market a mile away with more traditional products. We would stay at Oakwood Falls Church again. The only negative is that we felt like we were intruding a little, since we were there to have fun, while residents went about their daily work/school/day care lives.

As others have said, this is an apartment complex that rents studios for short term rentals. The neighborhood is fine and relatively close to everything you need. The apartments are well furnished and clean. The bed was comfortable and the TV selection was impressive. The staff was very helpful and friendly. On the negative side, my studio was next to the mailboxes on the first floor and it was VERY noisy. The internet didn't work for an entire day and my password stopped working 2 hours before my checkout. Finally, the bed had this metal frame on the the ground sticking out about 5 inches away from the bed. I banged my toes multiple times on that infernal thing.
