Rooms seem to be updated from previous reviews: we had a very comfy king bed, clean sheets and blankets, thick towels, spotless bathroom. Small refrigerator and microwave very handy for travelers. Basic breakfast included: cereal, toast, yogurt, muffins, OJ and good coffee. Breakfast area and reception area were also very clean, and friendly staff made easy check in and out. Reception area offers computer and printer access, books, area brochures, menus. Many people from all over the US here for the Cherry Springs State Park Dark Night skies viewing, about 30 minutes away.

I stayed one night. The bathtub in Room 112 had brown stains that looked like poop stains. I stepped on the stains before seeing them; I hope I don’t get any infection. I complained and was moved to Room 115. When I opened the sheets in Room 115, I found at least three small curly public hairs as well as black flecks. I quit looking after seeing three pubic hairs! Clearly, the blankets had not been washed. I immediately asked for a refund. When I checked out, the manager just ignored me, but she admitted she had read the notes from the night before. She never apologized, but the night worker did. Not worth the $94 headache! The day manager is curt and rude. She did not greet me with “Good morning.” She walked past with cookies for guests, but says nothing. She puts the WiFi password on a 1 inch by 1/4 inch little piece of paper that I misplaced several times. She never mentioned the breakfast hours. I have traveled to third world countries with better manners and accommodations.

Stayed for a few days. This is your standard motel but I must admit the place was spotless. The housekeepers do a fantastic job. The property was nicely kept up. The staff was friendly and helpful. All in all a nice stay.

We stayed in one of their suites by the river. It had a very pretty view and very quiet for sleeping hence the higher rating I would have given. The room was clean and appointed in an average manner. It was heated well. The windows were too small to really enjoy the view. The only lighting was bright over the bed - had to move a lamp from the living room to beside the bed to be able to relax and read. The grounds are well kept and the entrance is nice. The hotel itself looks tired. The breakfast offerings were prepackaged and sparce. The mattress was long overdue to be switched out. Soft and saggy - I dreaded going to bed the second night knowing how stiff and sore my back was going to be in the morning. This Inn has great potential but seems neglected.

The televisions in our rooms didn't work. There were solid black stains on the caulking around our tub/shower. There were no amenities in the bathroom. The breakfast was the worst I ever experienced in a hotel/motel. My granddaughter was eating a pre-packaged muffin that was moldy. (Another guest mentioned the same thing.) No vending machine for snacks. The ironing boards were those little things you might buy your offspring for a dorm room. Watch out: we left a DO NOT DISTURB sign on the door when we left for a family event. When we returned, the sign was hanging inside the door, and the beds had been partially made. (The bed was comfortable.)

Overall it would have been a better experience for me, the location convenient to town and to nearby attractions, the facilities relatively new and no problems, the staff generally friendly and courteous; good wifi signals, breakfast is acceptable. However the major turn-offs are: a) the choking stench of cigarette smoke along the hallway of the second building next to the main one; b) the dusty nightstand by the bed that looked like left untouched for weeks (I even saw some hairs on it). To be fair, other furniture in the room including bathroom looked reasonably clean. One more issue was the A/C temperature control of heat didn't work. If I have to make a quick stop there next time, I'll pick somewhere else.

Twice a year, my husband, son and I travel from Pittsburgh to the Westgate Inn. They enjoy fishing and hunting. I enjoy the small town shopping. We also make side trips to various state parks. We reserve the 2 room suite in January, it's perfect for us. Shirley and Betty Jo keep this hotel running like a well-oiled machine. After our 15th stay here, we consider them friends because of their kind hospitality to us.
