This was the worst place I ever stayed. The check in clerk was a complete jerk. The rooms bed was sagging in the middle and I could feel at coil at my hip. There is not insulation between the floors and the neighbors were noisy. I could hear walking talking and dog playing and barking. I couldn’t sleep so I left at 5am.

we returned recently for 3 nights, and it was great....been coming here for decades, and we always have a good time....the room is clean, the hotel recycles, and the room is spacious....the kitchen offers choices if you want to cook in the room....the staff is very friendly, and informative....the close proximity to both the beach and a few blocks away lake lytle is excellent....we love to run on the beach in the morning, and take many walks into town to visit a restaurant...thx so much....

Very nice, spacious room with complete kitchen, including full size refrigerator and range. Clean & comfortable. Large windows for nice ocean view. You can see blue arrow that shows where my room was...at end of short hallway. Parking was right in front of building. There is a pool building (I didn't use.) Very convenient location. There are several separate buildings...I was in bldg A. Spent two nights there.

RUN. NO A/C. NASTY ROOMS. Broken toilet that they said would be a “quick fix”. We said we’d rather have a refund since the condition of the room was so bad. TERRIBLE manager on staff September 10, who would not reimburse our fee when we checked in and the toilet was broken. We would have had to wait for them to come fix it, and take up more of our time when it shouldn’t have been an issue in the first place. If a guest is that unhappy then a full or partial refund should have been reimbursed (they clearly need the money). We booked through Booking, and all they could do was send an email that the manager quickly declined. Don’t expect Priceline or Booking to help in a situation like this since it’s up to the discretion of the manager, and they said our room was still in fine condition to stay in. HAH. We took the loss and went a little north to Seaside. We stayed at a hotel that feels like luxury for only $30 more. Surfside is WAY overpriced at $120 for a tiny dirty room with no A/C in the summer. The windows were open when we arrived to hide the smell and fact that they don’t have A/C. This building was built roughly in 1987, and hasn’t been touched since then. 0 stars. Plan ahead and stay somewhere else in Rockaway.…

Let me first say that the location of my room was fantastic. I had a large glass area in front that looked right out on the ocean which was only 200 feet away. I even had side windows that let me look north up the beach. But, it was also lacking in some pretty significant areas. There was no screen door behind the sliding glass door so you could not let air in without also letting in bugs. The sink had no stopper so if you dropped anything it would have gone completely down. They refuse to give you any more than 2 towels at a time no matter how long you are staying and no matter how many are in your party, so you have to go and exchange your dirty towels for clean ones all the time. There were no blackout curtains which was a pain for me because I like to sleep late. The refrigerator also made a thumping sound all the while it was on, so I finally had to unplug it. Then when I asked to get a later checkout (noon instead of 11:00am) I was flatly told no way and no reasoning would change the manager's mind. The fact that this room was almost $250 per night, they obviously don't maintain it that well and they are not courteous at all convinced me I'll never stay here again.…

The main concern that I had with the room was that the shower was faulty. I set it for a comfortable temperature and then unexpectedly, it would suddenly become scalding hot and then cold. It did this several times over the 10 minutes or so in the shower. It truly was a burn hazard. When I informed the front desk, I was given the nonsensical answer "showers are complicated." I later complained via e-mail since I got no satisfaction on-site and did not receive the courtesy of a reply. For the price of the room, it was also very small and somewhat substandard. Beach access was the best thing about the property.

The motel (not a resort) is fairly outdated. Fairly normal for this area. My complaint is that they overbook. We were there for our daughter’s wedding week. She was married just below the motel. I made reservations 5/18/23 for the “family suite” with an ocean view. Called 7/5/23 to verify exactly what room we had reserved (size wise) because my daughter planned to get ready and have pics taken from the balcony. Totally verified room size and beachfront balcony. Drove 4 hours to get there to find only a studio. We had our 87 year old mom with us and nowhere for her to sleep. Also, town was packed and I couldn’t find any other accommodations of course. I as the mother of the bride was very embarrassed and more importantly worried about my mom. They put her in a separate building by herself. Of course one of us had to sleep in her room as falls happen at 87!!! Our daughter did not get to get ready for her magical day in our room nor did she get to take pics from the balcony. No one seems concerned that what we had reserved was the family suite so mom could have her own room AND we would be with her at all times. …

We had an ocean view room on the first floor and loved the sound of the ocean as we slept. The room was very clean and well equipped with the essentials. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because it is a well-worn place. And keep in mind that even if you stay on the first floor, you will be carrying your luggage up a 12-step stairway.

Room is spacious at E135. It has two bathrooms (2 toilets and 2 stand shower). Only shampoo is provided. No conditioner. Has towels, disposable cups, ice bucket, hair dryer. No tissue box. Shower pressure is good! Bedroom: 2 queen beds, a TV. No closet, but there are hooks on the wall. No luggage rack but you can set then on the top of small cabinets. Full kitchen, everything is included, even a small toaster, foil lined baking tray, can opener, tongs, paper towels, wine glasses, salad bowl etc. Living room: coffee table, two seater couch, TV, dining table for 6. Balcony is nice, with 2 plastic chairs. Swimming pool water is heated. Towels are included. Bring your own toys. Open 10am to 10pm. No lane line phone. no DVD players. No alarm clocks. Which is fine. Less clutter. Manager seems to leave around 3 or earlier. If you need help make sure call the manager early. We stayed at this place many times, because it is close to the town and right on the beach. There hotel is dated but it is clean.…

The view? Beyond incredible! The beach access? Easy and close. Nicely stocked kitchen cupboards. Disappointing features: no housekeeping. If you want fresh towels, you set your laundry basket outside your door then hope they return all of the towels. They didn’t. No trash pick up. No vacuuming. The most uncomfortable bed, chairs, and couch. Our backs are destroyed. But again, the view!
