I'm going to start by defending The Bellos, as some of you may have read the comments before this one. I can say there were blankets provided on the bed, plus a sheet to cover yourself with (to be honest who would want a blanket in 30° heat, I don't know). Another thing is, drinking drinks and eating food you've bought yourself in the bar area is obviously not allowed. I mean I wouldn't go into Morrisons here at home, buy a crate of beer then go to my local and drink it. It's just manners. Also, yes the hill to and from the Bellos is steep, but not extensive, I mean we found it do-able and I can say we are unfit. Paying for your own fun is obvious, at the Bellos, they put on a Bingo night (paid) as it is at home, Killer pool tournament (paid) different quizzes (paid). Again, I think this is a must, I mean if you didn't pay for the fun, what would the prize be?! Now for my honest review..... The Bellos Hotel is great, me and my partner had the best time, ALL the staff are very polite and pleasant, I must admit we did find the drinks expensive, especially for the Kopperberg Cider that my partner drank, this was €6 for a can in the hotel, but this was standard price in all bars/taverners in Crete. We found it cheaper to walk into Hersonissos to the nearest spar to the Bellos (only 10 minute walk) there the same cider was €2.49 and the beer was around €1.74 for 500ml, as I touched upon before, we drank these in the hotel but on our veranda from the room. The staff were well aware we did this. I agree a shuttle bus would be helpful but the walk into Hersonissos is pleasant and not far, we usually walked there and got a taxi back, yes the taxi's were €8 maximum, but that's no fault of the Bellos. I would highly recommend going into The Old Town, that had a lovely square and lots of nice restaurants. The "tourist tax" is also payable, but again that is common knowledge, this is €1.50 per night, per room. Again not expensive. Paying for Air-con is a must as it got hot in the room (that's why there's no need for the use of a blanket when in bed). The breakfast and dinner buffet was limited, however, the food on offer was excellent. Just be aware that the restaurant at the Bellos does not open for Lunch. This is available in the hotel, however this needs to be paid for. (We were told by our travel agent, we could swap lunch and dinner) however this is not available. There were plenty of sunbeds and even after having breakfast late there were still plenty to choose from. We stayed up by the "adult" pool as we found it most relaxing. Kostas at the pool bar was lovely, please help him get to Las Vegas. Maria, Laura, Alex, Yannis, George, Thanos, Eric & Mr. & Mrs. Bellos were all a credit to the hotel. We really enjoyed our stay at the Bellos! …
