We arrived at this hotel early approx 2.30pm and thought we would book a meal for the evening. We were told that the only slot they had was 6pm as they had a coach party booked in. As we were eating we saw a number of guest turned away as they were busy although there were a number of empty tables. This hotel is not near any other restaurants pretty much approx 16 kms from the nearest place to eat. Hotels should be able to accommodate all their guest especially when out in the sticks.

We stayed in the main lodge on the second floor over looking the river. Rooms are dated but clean and comfortable with everything you need., microwave, air conditioning etc.We loved the grounds, could of spend days wandering around the grounds. Beautiful pool room . Love Earl ( the mule) at the petting zoo. Sharon was great at the front desk. Food was good in the restaurant and service was great. We will definitely be back and spend more than 1 night.

Our meals were Delicious and generously portioned. The best Lobster roll ever; large meaty chunks with fresh celery and green onions in an unobtrusive dressing. The cup of chowder was excellent. My son had very fresh fish n chips, and my husband’s planked salmon was fantastic, as were the accompaniments. Our waitress, Christa was outstanding!

This is our second trip to Liscombe and we have decided that we may extend our visit next year, as the resort has so much to offer for families! Our teens were able to use the bikes, kayaks and canoes on the resort. The pool and hot tub and sauna features were lovely, and the addition of the animals is such a great thing too! As always, the food was spectacular! I have to shout out Sharon at the front desk for her AMAZING customer service. She deserves a raise for sure! She was a breath of fresh air to deal with, and she helped make our stay much more comfortable by moving us into another chalet upon arrival. Clean room, beautiful scenery and great amenities and food- what more could you ask for?! We will be back :)

The grounds are beautiful here and it provides a few things to do for kids as we were traveling with a 14 and an 11 year old. There was a giant chess game, tennis, basketball hoops, a pool and two hot tubs. There are tiny little bunnies everywhere in the grounds and some goats too in an enclosure. The view of the river behind our room was wonderful to enjoy with a coffee as well. However, the room itself could definitely use some renos as d updates.

I’ll admit it wasn’t wise to try again. On a recent drive we decided to give the restaurant another shot out of curiosity. We could not imagine an experience so bad happening again it can’t be the norm for somewhere like that. We thought the food would be a safe way to give it another shot and see if they improved. It all seemed normal, the woman at the front desk was bright as we walked in which was a nice change from the last visit. It was mildly busy but we were seated promptly, however it was right by the busy and loud kitchen doors and took a long time for our server to come over. When they did they were kind. We had our orders taken, and everything seemed normal, we were impressed at the change. Then, who I think is the chef came out and started speaking down in ways I do not feel comfortable repeating to the wait staff. Not only that, but to do it so publicly is so embarrassing and dehumanizing to those people. All the tables around us too had noticed. He was not being quiet. We were speechless. When our server came back over we asked for our food to be packed to go so we could get our bill and leave. They had clearly been upset by the interaction with the chef so we did not want to add to their plate any more than needed. We paid and left. To top it off the food was basically inedible despite coming out fairly quickly and us trying it the second we got to the car right after it came out as we had already paid it was chewy and cold like it had been sitting there for a long time. last years server complaining about the working conditions makes a lot more sense. Clearly, they have issues with their management mistreating staff and guests and this place is not somewhere I would be comfortable being knowing that and I wish I hadn’t given them any money again after being previously burned.

The lodge was very disappointing. The website has not been updated, so it is not as advertised. It looked tired due to its need of painting. Our room was clean, but full of mismatched oversized furniture. The swimming pool was not clean, one of the hot tubs was closed and the outdoor games were incomplete. We had dinner in the dining room but had to send our order back because of lack of freshness and it came back burnt. We didn’t eat there again during our two day stay. Not recommended.

Our server, Tony, was so friendly and personable. My husband had the seafood chowder as an appetizer. It was a large bowl and delicious. His entree was just as good. I had steak, roast potatoes, and carrots/parsnips. Unfortunately, the steak was well done instead of medium rare, and the vegetables were soggy. Beautiful view of a river through wall-to-wall windows in the dining room. I enjoyed watching the birds at the birdfeeders. Book a reservation in advance if a bus tour group stays at the resort.

We just stayed here for the last 2 nights. Reading the reviews from seasons past, I must admit I was not quite sure what our experience would be. I must say it absolutely surpassed all my expectations. We stayed in Cabin #2 with a beautiful river view. The cabin was small, but clean and comfortable and charming with a lovely electric fireplace and comfy King Sized bed. The food at the restaurant was outstanding as well (we had 2 dinners and the breakfast buffet). The planked Atlantic Salmon, mushroom risotto, chocolate cake and morning omelettes were highlights. The lodge was very full with a group of 60. However, the staff never gave the impression of being overwhelmed - they were calm and extremely kind and friendly. I’m am a frequent traveller and rarely write reviews but felt I needed to send out kind compliments to this wonderful gem of a place and it’s staff. If there was one downside, wifi was spotty in our cabin (fine in the main building though) and there is no cell service in the area.

We had a night here as part of a tour of the Maritime Provinces. It was the worst accommodation of our trip: we were booked into a king bedded chalet and were expecting a space of the same standard as we experienced elsewhere. It was not so. It wasn't helped that we had experienced a long drive in bad weather and it was absolutely pouring with rain when we arrived. We'd come from Cape Breton and had spent many hours drivng through perfectly pleasant countryside that was pretty empty of habitation. The resort itself is not near anything else - no towns, restaurants, shops. My impression on arriving was that we had come to a 1950s holiday camp. There were some dismal looking tennis courts and a selection of wooden buildings scattered around a site. The lobby/front desk was dull and dark - the staff member checking us in was OK but didn't really explain what was available and where - she did provide a map but the weather wasn't such that we would want to walk and explore. We were in a chalet which was situated around 200 yards from the main building on the opposite side of the road. It's rustic: the building is old but waterproof and had been updated with an attractive electric fire and air con. We couldn't get a wifi signal in the chalet. The bed was large and comfy. The floor (no carpet) was a bit dusty. My main concern was that access was down a grass slope (slippery in the wet, particularly when carrying suitcases), then an uneven set of steps (with a handrail at an odd alignment), then some more wet grass. My wife felt that her clothes felt damp in the morning. The chalet was nicely situated by the river and in good weather the setting would have been nice. We ate in the restaurant. Very happy with the meal (especially the soup) and service. It was nice to look out at the river and see the birds (including hummingbirds) feeding while we ate. The map suggested that there were various walks available. We didn't try any as the ground around the chalet was flooding. In summary, this might be a nice place if you want to get back to nature and don't mind roughing it a little. But from what we saw, there was no luxury or pampering. And with bad weather it was just dismal.
