This is what I found: The towel bar was missing in the bathroom, although the brackets for it were still sticking out of the wall. The bath towels were small, thin, and very rough on the skin, but bright white and not worn. The light above the shower was either burned-out or not working. Mini bars of soap were provided, but no shampoo or other toiletries. The toilet tissue was single-ply. The bathroom sink drain was quite rusty. There was no hair dryer, refrigerator, microwave, air-conditioning, nor fan. I requested a fan 3 times before I finally got one. By then, the weather had turned, and it was no longer needed. In fact, I had to close the windows to stay warm, and that is when I noticed that the glass in the bathroom window was broken, and one of the front lower bedroom windows would not close. I was informed (via a sign posted in the restaurant, several weeks after I had made this reservation by phone) that there was a 4% price increase if I paid by credit card. The lace curtain on the rear wall of the bedroom provided no privacy whatsoever, and did not block the morning light from coming into the bedroom, making it difficult to sleep after daybreak. (See photo.) There was no mattress cover; only a thin sheet between the well-used mattress and my body. The mattresses on both beds sagged like hammocks. Additionally, cleaning had been neglected in various aspects of the room. (See photos.) The carpet was stained and in poor condition. The wifi was very slow. Many ceiling repairs were needed. There was a hole in the ceiling and also In the door. I'm not saying this is necessarily a place everyone should avoid. But guests who come here expecting all the standards of most ordinary budget hotels/motels might be disappointed. (I was.)

Location is ok, but hotel is not well maintained. We were charged $150 at the end of our last visit for water in the room, originating from what appeared to be a leak in the roof. No response or further communication from hotel to resolve this, so am writing this one off as a shady deal. There are better alternatives just down the road.

There are 11 rooms adjacent to the restaurant which seems to be the main money maker for these folks. While the restaurant didn't look like much from the outside the food was delicious, servers friendly and it was filled with a lot of locals. It is about a mile outside of Lake Placid and quiet considering it is next to the road. For the price this was a decent place. The room was clean and the people running it were very nice. It could use some maintenance/upgrading. Two of the four windows had broken cranks so they couldn't be opened. No air conditioning which when we stayed was not a problem as it was cool enough with the windows open. The screen on the door had been pushed out and not repaired. I used the room key to push the spline back in and mostly repair it. My main concern with our room was the lack of decent locks. This seems like a safe area but I still feel better with a dead bolt on my motel room doors. The only lock on this door was the push button on the door knob. The door knob itself was not firmly attached to the door. My other big concern was the lace curtain on the bathroom window. The window was about four and a half feet from the floor but a tall person or someone determined to look inside could have stood on something to look in.

This is a low cost motel that is fine for one night. The restaurant is reasonably priced but food is very average. Not great value as found the portions small and extremely salty. The service both at the check in desk was rather rude/cold (she didn't like people or tourists) and so was the waitress who served our table. Trying to rush us out AND added 18% service charge to our bill ! BUT lots of smiles for the older couples who looked like locals......

My girlfriend and I eat here whenever we have time off. The food is always outstanding and the Staff is brilliant. There is not a bad dish on the menu, but the Chicken Parmesan and Rack of lamb are delictable!! Soups are always top notch, specials always please, and bottom line......locals know Cascade Inn is a delightful secret.

This place was by far the worst place I have ever stayed at. The rooms were not clean and my friends even found mice poop in their sheets. The shower was moldy and I didn't even dare to set foot in it. The Internet service was poor and the TV did not work. The ceilings were caving and had many stains. The bed was no better...it was hard and I found many holes in my sheets. I would not recommend this place to anybody. The price is very cheap and the rooms show it. Do yourself a favor and do not rent a room at the Cascade Motor Inn.

The place did the trick. The rooms were bigger than I thought they would be. Clean, neat, and workable. You can not beat the price and the location. Look forward to getting back there! The bathroom more than I expected. Heard good things about the bar and restaurant and hope to try them both out next time.

the cascade inn is by far the cheapest place to stay in placid. for the price, i was expecting the worst but it wasn't so bad. the owners are very nice and the rooms are large and clean. they have a generous 48 hour cancelation policy. that's about where the good things end. my room (#9) has a few "quirks". The screen door isn't quite aligned with the door frame so it's easy for the door to get jammed in the frame and this happened twice during my two night stay. the first time one of the owners came out and unjammed it but the second time we unjammed it ourselves. the cable wire on the TV was disconnected and on the floor and when plugged back in the connection was very poor. this was remedied by my father's multi-tool but those without a multi-tool to tighten the cable wire would've had to call the office again (also the remote didn't work). The shower had very poor pressure in my room but my aunt and uncle in another room did not report that problem. The beds are quite old and so they are a bit concave-shaped and also very hard. i suffer from lower back problems so these beds disagreed with me quite a bit and i had a hard time sleeping. i consider most of the problems a minor inconvenience except for the beds. but for those who aren't bothered by old mattresses, this place is ~40 dollars a night cheaper than anything else in town!

This place was the right price ( $ 60 a night ). The room was big and the beds were comfy. There were a few things that could have been changed. A little work to spruce it up a bit would help. We were there Feb.1 and one of the problems we had was no plowing of the driveway and we almost got stuck a couple of times. The staff that we met were very friendly and laid back. We arrived before the restaurant opened ( which is when they do the Inn business ). We called and they told us we were in room 8 and the key was in the door and to just go in and we could settle up with them later. If you are looking for somewhere to stay for a couple of days this place is nice but remember it is only $ 60 a night. Also we had dinner at their restaurant and it was very good and nice atmosphere ( fire going very homey )

The rooms are quite large and they are perfect if you just want a clean place to stay for $60 a night. We use this inn for overflow when we are in Lake Placid at our house. The restaurant is attached and it has very good food and excellent pre rib on Saturday nights. The owners are friendly, accommodating, and very hard working and caring people.
