Hotel Tomboctou has 16 air-conditioned rooms, with bathroom, inside an old soil Kasbah located in the city center of Tinghir, very close to the palm grove of Todra. Each of these rooms is named after a stage in the ancient roads of the caravans across the Sahara and is decorated according to the style of the concerned locality.

This is a great place to stay in Tinerhir.I booked one night but ended up staying for two.First of all I want to pay tribute to the staff- Hassan,David and Mouah....Friendly and welcoming they helped me to feel at home from the moment I arrived....My room was clean and very comfortable and comfortably warm because of the air conditioning....The restaurant at this hotel is one of the cleanest I have come across in Morocco...Breakfast was included in the price of the room and it was excellent....I had dinner there also each night and lunch on the day I was leaving...Many thanks to Hassan for taking me to the bus station on the afternoon I was checking out....A top class place to stay....Clean,comfortable,friendly and great value for money...10 out of 10.

You must be aware that Tinehir is a small town in a remote desert location so there are very limited options from which to choose. If you keep this in mind & have previously traveled to locations that are frequented by trekkers, campers, desert-camp lovers etc. then you will probably not be disappointed. The hotel is located on a small side street a few blocks from the main road & down a street that has poor lighting at night, but not much reason to return to the main street area at night anyway. The exterior appearance & entrance/lobby will most likely not impress since the place gives off a rather tough impression, & the stairs, public areas & rooms are a somewhat rough looking compared to larger city hotel offerings. However, don't be turned off until you take a good look since the place is quite clean & has good housekeeping & the entire staff are eager to help & offer pleasant service. The dinner is served in an attractively decorated tent-like room & offered several options from which to choose & was delicious with big serving size & well priced. The hotel also offers both beer & wine for those who care to imbibe. Our room had A/C which could be important in the summer, but No TV if that is an issue in your hotel search. Our first apprehensive concerns were replaced with a clean basic room, a good dinner & pleasant service. Unfortunately, the included breakfast was the weakest of 7 Moroccan hotels & needs significant improvement.

This hotel isn't super fancy but it does have a lot of character. The rooms are all decorated with different themes, and they have some really interesting African and Berber artwork around the lobby. The rooms were well-cleaned. The pool could use a good cleaning though, and the showers in the rooms are very small and don't work great. Also the seats around the pool are getting old, and we thought we would break them if we kept sitting on them, so they need some new outdoor furniture. Otherwise, I would say this hotel is a good value for the cost. There is not much to do in the town around the hotel, but the dinner at the hotel was okay and again, very well-priced.

I have stayed at Hotel Tomboctou every year since 2016 and it is, hands down, my favorite hotel in ALL of Morocco. Roger clearly loves and perpetuates the history of Saharan caravan trade in the naming of the rooms and each’s individual decor. No attention to detail has been spared. Breakfasts are satisfying and requests for assistance are met happily and quickly.

We stayed at Hotel Tomboctou for one night and have nothing to complain about. The staff was friendly, the rooms were clean, the food was very tasty and the breakfast was also very good. As the WOW-effect was missing, we are giving 4 out of 5, but still, all in all, we had a nice stay there.

Stayed in this lovely old kasbah for one night. It is a very traditional building and the rooms also. Facilities are very good with plenty of hot water. Restaurant was excellent with one of the best dinners I had in Morocco! Very friendly helpful staff. Dont forget to check out the view from the roof terrace.

The hotel occupies old kasbah, which is interesting. The room was ok with working air conditioning. The bathroom is very small, one can hardly turn around in the shower, not touching the curtain. Because of the building and some accessories being old, it seems that everything is notvery clean, which mostly likely not true. The pool is good. It was refreshing, especially in so hot temperature
