A charming, three-story house bordered by a white picket fence embodies traditional Colonial appeal. Built in the mid 1600's, some original architecture remains, especially in the lounge, with its beautiful wood paneling and ceiling beams.Rooms vary in size and each has a sitting area, some have a fireplace. The 1770 House has two fine restaurants. The Tavern, a favorite for Hamptons locals, has a tiny bar, fireplace, famous meatloaf and other casual fare. The main dining room is more elegant and sophisticated, serving a contemporary American menu with a Wine Spectator award winning wine list.

LOVE! Have stayed here several times and it is always a pleasure. On this trip I had to have an emergency medical procedure days before we were supposed to go stay here, I wasn't sure we would make it, but we went ahead and made the trip. It was the perfect decision, I had to rest a lot and it was so easy because everything is right there, the food in the restaurants is fabulous so we didn't mind eating there every night and the staff is all fabulous. Randye and Carol are the best, very helpful and will do anything to make your stay better. We stayed a week and by the time we left I felt so much better because I had been pampered at this glorious place for a week. Can't wait to go again!

WOW, what a F A B U L O U S dinner dining experience! It started with a warm & cheerful telephone call to make a reservation through and until our wonderful & warm 3 generations of family at the table walked out the door! Let me explain, we arrived and received an engaging and welcoming reception. While settling into the living room by a beautiful fire to cheer us up from the cold we were served the best cocktails allowing us to visit and enjoy probably the best decorated and lit Christmas tree we have ever seen!!! Next the 6 of us were taken to the best table ever in a window nook. Our waiter was incredible! The food by Chef Michael Rozzi was so exceptional that we can’t wait to return. And if you not just foodies like us and enjoy wine, also like us, the wine cellar selections are wide & deep! What an East Hampton gem!! We HIGHLY recommend The 1770 House!

My mom and I stayed here for a week in Nov 2022 (off-season), for the first time. It is a lovely property. We stayed in the 2 bed/2 bath carriage house, which is private and quiet. It is next to the small back parking lot, but we never heard any noise. The carriage house was beautifully decorated and had everything you need (small fridge, full size (!!!) coffee maker, dishes, even a dishwasher!). The people who work at 1770, especially Carol and Randye, could not have been friendlier or more accommodating, especially to my mother who is in her 70s. We loved our stay and hope to be back soon. Highly, highly recommended.

Located in an historical home with street parking available, the 1770 House allowed us to walk back in time. The interior was beautifully done with rich colored wood, a large fireplace, and antique pieces of furniture. Our server had a lovely personality as he engaged with all diners near us. He clearly explained each entree we wanted to order. The food was delicious and nicely presented. Our visit was memorable.

The 1770 Inn & Restaurant offered us a romantic getaway in the heart of East Hampton, where the respectful, courteous, and friendly staff, especially Michael and Ferquan, treated us exceptionally well. Our room (#3) was not overtly roomy, but served its purpose for the weekend, with our only complaint being there was an electrical issue in our bathroom that was not addressed during our stay and forced us to alter the way were prepared for the day and evening. The complimentary breakfast in the main dining room offered us a convenient and tasty way to start the day, while dinner satisfied our desire for a dining experience in a romantic setting, with soft music, candlelight, a gas fire place, which oddly was not turned, and very good food. Be prepared to pay the East Hampton premium, but in our opinion, the experience justified the cost. FYI, the 1770 House has a tavern in the basement, which we did not advantage, and a well-designed, flower-filled sitting area in the backyard that was closed due to cold weather.

My husband and I stayed for a 3 day mid-week break at 1770 and had a wonderful stay. We stayed in room #2, which I think is one of the smaller rooms, but it had lovely windows on 2 sides of the room, and beautiful decor which made it very cute indeed. The floors are creaky and you can see the ceiling is on a slant but for us this added to the charm! Felt like we were staying in a piece of East Hampton history! The continental breakfast each day was lovely, with smoked salmon, fresh fruit, muffins, coffee - couldn't ask for more. And Radye the inn keeper was really helpful in telling us how to make the most of our stay and parts of the town to enjoy. We ate in the restaurant on one of the evenings - and it was exquisite. They do a set menu which is good value and the dishes are prepared immaculately. We enjoyed some local wine too! Would definitely recommend this place - great location, lovely building and friendly service.

This review is for the hotel and restaurant which are both exquisite. First the restaurant - my family went to dinner in the dining room this past week and had a lovely meal. This was my third time dining here - first two with my husband and the third time with my husband and two kids. Admittedly, I was hesitant to bring my kids, ages 8 and 6, here due to the menu being too sophisticated, but 1770 House was so accommodating and was able to bring them more simple fare from the Tavern downstairs. My 8 year old ended up having to leave the table early with my husband due to not feeling well, but the staff was just so nice with offering to keep his meal warm and boxing it up even after it had been served. Shout out to Carol who was so unbelievably nice to offer to drive my other child and me back to our hotel while we were waiting. That offer was just above and beyond and represents the extraordinary customer service here. After our recent restaurant experience, I realized I had never written a review for the hotel. I have stayed here twice with my husband, most recently in October 2020 in Room One (so lovely!). The Inn is very charming with a beautiful garden out back that also offers outdoor dining in warmer weather. The location is very convenient to downtown East Hampton, about a 10 minute walk. Can’t say enough about how much we love this place and the amazing breakfasts that are included with the stay. Randye, the other manager, was so helpful both times we stayed with coordinating activities and making reservations. We love this hotel so much and look forward to staying here again soon!

We were so concerned about Covid that we were hesitant to go away but when we saw that the 1770 House had a separate carriage house, we were eager to reserve that for our family vacation. From the minute we met the Innkeeper Randye, she was so friendly and was so happy to show us where everything was in the inn. She also was excellent in recommending restaurants in our area that we could eat dinner at. The inn itself was preserved so beautifully and it was very nostalgic to walk around and look at all the lovely furnishings. I must say that everywhere we looked, staff were cleaning everything so I felt very safe seeing this. Now with regard to the carriage house, we absolutely loved the quaint cottage. It had an adorable porch with plenty of seating and when you open the door you are invited into a beautifully decorated cottage. A lovely living room, dining area, small kitchenette with refrigerator and anything else you would need. There were 2 nice sized bedrooms with 2 king beds and 2 bathrooms with heavenly showers. We loved the bathrobes and slippers and all the Molton Brown products too that were supplied. Breakfast at the inn was such a delight too. From fresh baked muffins and fresh fruit to wonderful choices of eggs, frittatas, pancakes and waffles. I can’t brag enough about our wonderful stay at this Inn and I can only say that we will be back again.

Went out East for Bedside Author’s Weekend 2/28-3/1, what a great decision it was to stay at 1770. I knew immediately when I spoke to the innkeeper, Randye that this was the place for us. She was warm, knowledgeable and knew all there was to know about the Hamptons. The Inn is beautiful, our room #5 was cozy and private, and the Eggs Benedict at breakfast, were the best I’ve had. Matthew, the breakfast waitstaff was friendly and very efficient. We will be back!
