The Old Kirby Place provides multiple cozy cabins, fully equipped kitchen, fast WiFi, set on the banks of the infamous Madison River. Easy access to the West Yellowstone Park entrance, world-class trout fishing, endless hiking trails and many lakes to explore. Work from your Home Away from Home or escape it all on the Madison River in Montana.
I am counting the days until my next visit to the OKP in mid-September. This rustic-chic lodge is the perfect place to enjoy true peace and solitude. Daily happy hour in the Caddis Shack is not to be missed! The food and company add to the relaxing ambiance. Accommodations are relaxing and include everything needed for a comfortable stay. Stargazing on the stroll back to my cabin from the main house every evening was a highlight. Also, being only 45 minutes from Yellowstone is beyond convenient. I cannot wait to go back in September so that I may share this hidden hideaway with my husband!

Great location. Amazing views. Cabins and beds are ok but not clean enough or updated enough for the price they charge per night. The worst service I have ever seen. The owners brother Brent is the host and is not qualified for this job. Here are a few examples of the terrible service. Extremely intoxicated the entire time. Drank our liquor. Ate our food. Argued with our cater. Two plus hours late on both breakfast. Burnt most all food. Had to woken up by guest to burn breakfast. Told my mom and wife to call power company after 8plus hours of no power. After we woke him up from a hangover to tell him about the problem. Put a towel down instead for fixing a running toilet. Had no downstairs bathroom for most of our stay. Tried to barge in on a bridle party of women getting ready. Yelled at me for asking him not to enter the lodge. Wore sweat pants and sweat pant shorts entire time. Tried to take a guest back to his room. Never cleaned anything up. Left garbage out. Brent was finally asked to leave and not return. The event went much better after this. It is very unfortunate about this place. It has a lot of potential but under the current owner and management it is terrible. Brent the care taker is the brother of the owner. So i have very little faith much will change. They have offered nothing to me to try and make this right. I had to tip the person I had to fire because it was included.…

I really wanted to like this place. The Madison River is beautiful, the cabins are 'ok' but the guy (Brent) who is in charge of running the place completely ruins the experience. The initial impression you get when you walk into the lodge is one where the proprietor doesn't care enough to clean up after previous guests and provides meals that are borderline health code violations. He left steaks out of the fridge for a day and a half before cooking them to serve for breakfast. It's a wonder everyone didn't get extremely sick. He drank heavily most of the time we were there and even yelled at one of the guests. He's lucky a few of the remaining guests showed enough restraint not to stomp him in the mud. You can find something much more accommodating and much more reasonable in cost anywhere else along the Madison. In fact, West Fork Cabins (located across the Hutchins Bridge) would be a far better experience. Any choice you made that didn't include "Brent the Host from Hell" would be a step up!…

Stayed here for my brother's wedding. The location is beautiful and the cabins and main house are good enough. Beware that this place is operated by guy named Brent (the owner's brother) who is an alcoholic, bad cook and real jerk. Over the course of the three nights we stayed he burned our breakfast, drank a bottle of Maker's Mark, sat on the porch and bugged the other guests and even tried to take one of the wedding party guests back to his room on the property. At one point he even yelled at my brother, the groom on his wedding day! Also, when the property lost power and had a leaky toilet, he didn't even try to fix it. My mother had to call the power company and solve the problem and another guest eventually fixed the plumbing issue. This guy really ruined the experience for us. He doesn't keep the place tidy or neat or clean and wears stained sweat pants around and acts like a creep. I'd find another place on the Madison River to stay.…

Beautiful place right on the Madison River. About 45 minutes from the West Yellowstone entrance The old farmhouse is right out of the 1800s and restored beautifully. The accommodations are a mishmash of two different western cabins or sleeping in the main house. Not fancy but so comfortable. Tasty, delicious breakfast and dinner and great owners. The real draw is the flyfishing. But we're not fly fisher people so we can't attest to that. But a float down the river is gorgeous. The area around the Madison range is beyond beautiful.
