Leaking toilet cistern, noisy exhaust fan bearings in shower, reading lamp on bed head right where your head would be sitting up in bed, very dated construction of windows, shower layout, water spills from shower curtain onto floor.. But the food was good.

The hotel rooms have recently been renovated and are clean, fresh and functional. The beds are unbelievably comfortable. Despite its location above a bar, there is no noise. The staff are unbelievably accommodating, a special mention to Andrew and Peter for ensuring that we were accommodated for in every way, their service alone will give me enough to recommend this establishment to any visiting party. The hotel is well priced and exceeds all of the reasonable expectations. We will return. Thank you.

Chose this hotel as we were hiring a car thus proximity to the CBD wasn't really an issue. First of all, a thank you to the staff, they kept the hotel open for us even though our flight was late getting in (note to others this isn't a 24 hour check in place). The photos you see on here are largely of the front suite and not the actual room. The actual room though was fairly good, bed was comfy, room retained heat well and I was really surprised at how sound proof it was-there was a party on one night but the door between it and the rooms stopped the sound damn well. The reverse cycle air conditioner was good, the TV was a little small, weirdly the bathroom sink was in the room rather than the bathroom, the shower was strong if a little unsymmetrical in water flow, there was only a soap/shampoo mix not separate of each and I don't think there was a safe. A surprising highlight was breakfast, they supply you with these breakfast boxes which you can put in your room fridge and that fully contain all you need for breakfast=food, drinks & cutlery. They are not small boxes either (filling) and there are different types available=we loved these boxes. One big thing I would say though is that we: 1. Didn't formally eat here=the meals looked average 2. Noticed on the fireplan how some of the rooms are much smaller/smaller bathrooms than ours=ask for a big room if you can.

We stayed 3 nights here . Room was very clean. A window to open for fresh air. Air -con was modern. Very comfortable kind size bed. Complimentary breakfast each day. Walls are thick and even though there was a band playing, we couldn’t hear a thing. Extra quiet because there were few or no other guests. Right next door to bus interchange. Walking distance to Moonah shops. We would stay here again.

All staff were very friendly and obliging. My husband and I had not made a booking but were quickly shown to a table just before hoards of people came in so our meals were delivered quickly.......a yummy cheese and garlic pizza for starters. Our mains were delicious and very well presented and hot! I had chicken and mushroom carbonara and my hubby had his favourite, chicken parmigiana with chips and salad. We couldn’t fault either meal and highly recommend The Carlyle as a great place to dine. Prices were good too.

We stayed in hotel accomodation for 2 nights. Unfortunately the photos do not match the so called apartment we had was so out of date horrible bathroom like old outback bed breakfast place . Upstairs no elevators , also hotel reception is the bar bit with sign over it . We dined bistro meals we’re horrible runny Gravy beef look like was Cheap beef roll cut up , vegies hard crunchy as rocks .. we ended up eating booking else were . Next night for dinner ..meals disappointing. There was a function or something right opposite to our front door on the Saturday night music going and there door open could hear vomiting from patrons . The only things for us was close to where I had to be . Think internet needs to show exactly what rooms look like I did read reviews where the place stating they doing up however meanwhile we paid thinking getting nice apartment like one photo well it wasn’t .. would we stay again “no “

A nice tidy room, about the only fault was it took a very long time for the hot water to come to the shower, we were about to give up thinking there was something wrong with it when it eventually came through, apart from that we had a very enjoyable stay and would be very happy to use this hotel again.

Took 5 minutes of running the hot water tap to only get warm water. lack of water pressure and only warm water followed a tough night on a bed of rock. Mattresses and pillows need to be a little less firm.

The website that we booked on showed a bathtub, a modern, spacious room and a kitchenette, none of which we received. We pointed this out to staff and they said the booking website must have made a mistake but they didn't offer us any compensation or upgrade even though we were staying for a week and we knew they had better rooms available. They also said no to a late checkout and they didn't have decaf cappuccinos. We just didn't feel like we mattered to them. The bar meals were quite good but the bistro meal I had was quite pricey and not well cooked.
