We stayed in the 2 bedroom and was very spacious for 3 of us. The only thing they didn't tell us was that we had to check in at Waves which was 2 blocks away. They were very helpful. The ocean was just in the back of the place.

Suite 3,4 and Ocean front 13. Suite 3 - so small, thought it would be similar to suite 4, but a little smaller bc not accessible. In need of an update and bathroom had an odor Suite 4 - no odor, probably bc no rugs. Queen size would be an improvement, it’s tough for 2 people to sleep in double beds. We enjoyed the picnic table. Room 13 - view was great, but musty stale odor was awful. The rugs need to be replaced or new floors installed. Some rooms had small glasses, some didn’t. Some had teaspoons, some didn’t. I think they should mention if you need towels, toilet paper etc, should call in morning, bc no one answers phone in afternoon and lobby is a few hotels down the road.

We stayed in room 14 with our children ages newborn to 10 years old. The room was very comfortable and the beds were exceptionally comfortable. We were very impressed with how quiet the room was. We also enjoyed the proximity to the beach and to downtown. The pool was clean and not overly crowded. At one point when the pool did become a little more rambunctious it was nice to see a staff member come out and control the situation. The rooms might seem a little dated, but it is also from wear and tear of being so close to the ocean. Even though they were fully booked parking was not a problem with their extra parking lots across the street. We would definitely return to the facility.

The room was dated with an old fashioned bathroom (room was very clean though). However, the location was excellent with free parking. You are so close to the beach that you can walk barefooted from your hotel room. You are also close to downtown but it was quiet during the night.

Room 45, Back Annex It was nice to have a kitchenette with cooking pans, dishes, utensils and drink ware. The room was clean. The air conditioner was kind of loud. The only thing I didn’t like was that the only window opened into a hallway which was lined with windows, but odd. Many years ago we stayed in an ocean view room and I think I’d prefer that over the back annex next time.

Room Tip: I suggest an ocean view or ocean front room instead of the back annex.

We stayed in room 29, which is an Oceanside room, on floor 3. The view was absolutely amazing. The bed was beyond comfy, and everything was extremely clean. We will be back, hoping for an ocean front preferably 26!

This hotel looked really lovely in the photos, and read really well, so we were looking forward to our stay by the sea. Upon arrival, everything looked pretty nice from the road and the reception was quite pleasant. However, everything changed as soon as we rounded the corner - the outside of the building needed repair. Inside, we clearly didn't have one of the "many newly renovated rooms" - ours was disgusting - very dated, very low ceiling with loose and falling panels, dirty blue bathroom faucets, the bed had shocks rolled together and the pillows were hard as rocks, there was an old tin kitchen with mismatched pieces in the cupboards. The floor was sloping and very uneven. We even found a dirty, dried out washcloth on the shower rod. There was also no soundproofing between rooms. And the trains honking past in the middle of the night didn't help either. It was the worst stay ever. And what about the train that passes 3 times a night. After the second night we were moved to another suite. From suit 7 to suit 1, much less interesting but of course at the same price. The owners blamed it all on Expedia.

Arrived to find the office closed with a sign to walk three blocks to Waves to receive keys, paperwork. 29 minute covid wait. Booked through hotels.com, was only charged for one night on a two night booking confirmation, had to pay the remainder at hotel. When it was time for bed, turned down bedding to find previous guests eyelashes and mascara glued to the white comforter. There isn’t any breakfast, evening movies or housekeeping. It is convenient to ocean and boardwalk/pier.

Since Lafayette Hotels took over the Sea View, it has steadily improved. We had an oceanfront room with two queen beds, and we also had a cot brought in. Good sized room with a kitchenette. It overlooked the pool and ocean beyond. Nice balcony with good furniture. There are only 9 oceanfront rooms (3 per floor), so this part of the property is pretty quiet. Room pros: huge TV; good-sized fridge; microwave; Keueig; ample plates, glasses, etc.; shower was decent; room was clean; beds decent; lots of pillows and a good variety; two nice easy chairs. The blinds were not great at darkening and the big window obviously faces the sunrise, so it was just a matter of putting up a blanket and all set. Building and area was quiet. Parking a bit tight but only had to park across the street in the overflow lot one time. Pool is good and got daily maintenance. Continental breakfast was nothing special but we did cereal, fruit cups, muffins, juice, English muffins and yogurt. Here are some things that put the Sea View into 5 bubble category: the office chair (that goes with the desk) was very stained. This was totally unlike the Lafayette properties we have stayed at before. I asked them to remove it, and they immediately apologized and jumped on the situation. Had a clean, good one put in within an hour. One wall light was not working, so the room was somewhat dark. They had maintenance working on it within an hour, and when it was beyond their ability to fix, they brought in an extra desk lamp which did the trick. After check out, we asked to use the communal restroom for changing out of wet clothes (so we could spend another hour on the beach). They said no problem. Housekeeping did a great job. We were allowed use of Waves hot tub and pool (which was a bit warmer than Sea View’s)....one minute walk away. (Also convenient as the Sea View lobby closes after 10:00 but Waves lobby is always open). Finally we only paid $125 for our room. While not the fanciest place, it IS nice and it’s a great deal to pay that little for oceanfront. Lafayette really knows what they’re doing.
