Only reason we stayed is because of the weather, room reeked of smoke, AC parts on sidewalk, security latch on door missing, very old hotel. Needs up dating real bad. booked online charged us $126, do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else.

The beds are springy and hard, the floors aren’t carpeted and are dirty, and the refrigerators don’t even have a freezer part in them. Priceline says checkout is noon, but apparently it’s 11:00. We arrived at close to 4 in the morning and then got haggled by the cleaning guy at ten til 11 because we were supposed to check out. The folks at the front desk were nice enough to give us the extra hour. Overall though, I will never stay at a Red Roof Inn again.

I was very appalled when I witnessed the manager Tanya at the red roof Shelbyville location accepting cash from an elderly man for her benefit. I listened to her inform the man of her health issues and asking for help. The man also invited her to dinner and she is tricking this man into weekly money as well as paying a weekly fee to stay there. I know it's not in my business but I could not witness this any longer without saying something to the employee tanya. She laughed and said it is what it is. I will never stay at this franchise owned by Patel any longer who allows for his employees to trick guest especially elderly people out of cash

First, they need more lighting to feel more secure. The Econo Lodge right next door looks 20 times more inviting than this hotel. It is cheap, which tends to draw a certain type of guest. Room floors are not carpeted, at least the one I was in. Older property, and it shows. Lets say on this one, you get what you paid for.

Traveling back to Tn from MN, I decided to stop in Shelbyville for the night. The first thing I noticed were a few dubious looking characters walking in the hallways. Then, I saw this guys who had bottles of liquor on top of the hood of their dilapidated trucks and were drinking from the bottles. Later, at night, a guy came with a motorcycle. Some of them took turns speeding and doing circles with the motorcycle in the parking lot. I was a bit afraid at night but fortunately nothing happened.

TO HOW THIS MIGHT CONCERN Tuesday 22 October 2019, I  booked  a hotel room at 101 Howard Drive, Shelbyville, KY  via Priceline.Later i called the hotel to report what time i was coming in.When i showed up at the hotel, the front desk lady, Sarah insisted that i pay again since Priceline had not paid the hotel, yet i was still booked at the hotel.I called Priceline and Sarah promised to refund me back the money.When i tried to question her, why she insisted on charging me, yet i had already paid Priceline, she threatened to call the police on me.4 days later, i am still waiting for my refund. Is this the way you treat guests?

Dear Robert A, I am not sure who you talked to because we do not and have not had a Sarah that works at this location. If there is a problem with a booking from a company we ask that the guest call that company if there have paid them and that company then calls us and we deal with it. Unfortunately, I have no way that I can find out what really took place since no one that works here has a name that is even close to Sarah.

This motel has rooms exiting to the outside, which is very convenient when moving luggage from the van. The rooms are dated, but clean, the staff are very nice. The problem at this motel is that they allow the constriction workers who stay there to congregate outside in front of one of the rooms - where they have loud conversations and are generally rowdy - for hours into the night. This is not a pleasant or safe environment to have to pass by when getting to you room. We had to call the office when it continued past 12:00 - which helped some - but they gathered back for a while afterward. The staff lady was extra accommodating and moved us the next day to another room on the other side of the motel. We had no problems there - but noticed the party still going on the side we were on. It seemed obvious to me since this was happening all three nights we were there that this behavior is ignored by the management - which to me is the same as sanctioning it. I do not recommend the motel to anyone who is looking for a quiet motel to get some rest at. This gets two stars only because of the staff going the extra mile to help us get away from the epicenter of this disaster. It is noteworthy that having us to move - instead of making the troublemakers move, says it all.

On my way through from Virginia to Utah with my 3 year old son. Got in at about 10pm Saturday night. When i asked the gentleman at the counter if there were any rooms available. He said yes and quoted me a price that was about $15 more than what I saw on Priceline.com. When I asked about the online price, he told me that I would need to book through the site to get the price. He then gave me the password to the wifi so I could do so. Since it was so late in the day, Priceline required payment in order to reserve the room. I paid it and the room was reserved. A few minutes later, the gentleman at the counter told me he received my reservation information and that it would be $63.24. I told him that I had already paid and that the balance had been deducted from my account. After about 20 minutes of talking, I paid for the room with a different card since my son needed to get to bed. I called Priceline and asked them if they could help me. The lady on the line was extremely helpful. However, the hotel staff was not. While the Priceline rep was trying to get him to refund me the charge, he ended up charging me a 3rd time. I have now paid $189 for this room. It took 4 days and several calls to the hotel's Customer Relations department, I finally got 2 of the charged refunded. I'm happy to have the money back but I had to adjust my budget for the rest of the trip and give up a couple tourist stops. Now, on to the room itself. As I walked to the room, there was a couple fighting on the balcony outside their room. Not the hotels fault but, from the other reviews, this is a common occurance. The room as a whole was dusty, the front door did not close completely and light was visible around the frame, the bathroom door appeared to have been kicked in at some point and the doorknob latch was missing. There were urine stains on the toilet seat and in the shower. Once I got over those issues, I went to crawl into one of the beds. As I went to pull the sheets back, they looked as though the bed was only made up and not actually wash or re-sheeted. I ended up sharing the other bed with my son. The next morning, I asked the, now different, gentleman at the the counter about the charges. He spoke very little English and I could not get anything other than him pointing repeatedly at the reciept I was given. Also, in an attempt to show me that I would have only been charged once, he gave me a copy of what looked like a ledger from the night before that had all of the names, phone numbers, and addresses of all of the people that had stayed there in the last few nights. I promptly put it back on the counter face down.

After reading other reviews, it seems that construction workers stay here often, not a problem usually. But this evening, one said to my mother “get in the car.” Women, don’t stay here alone or reconsider staying here in general. Not a settling feeling.. but the staff was kind when we requested a refund.
