Great bed and breakfast in the perfect location! Our "home" was the treehouse with its own little balcony, It is configured a bit odd but it worked in a way that it made the most of the space. The breakfast was excellent- tasty and a nice variety. One of the highlights was the happy hour from 4-5pm. There was wine and some nibbles (cake, cookies). Many of the fellow guests gathered on the back porch drinking their wine and eating their cookies or cake. It was a great gathering place and the perfect way to meet our fellow travelers. The location was fantastic- a quick walk to the museums and "ole St Augustine". We were able to park the car off the street and walk. Our host had spot-on suggestions for dinner and kept our desires in mind (She didn't just suggest any old place but asked what we were interested in) The Penny Farthing is an old Victorian so has some "age" showing but everything was clean and in working order. We would definitely return and would recommend it to anyone.

Two responsive and friendly young women staff this inn that reminds me of my English Quaker grandmother’s 1950’s home. Filled with English origin antiques, some modern amenities and a very comfortable bed, we enjoyed very much coming back to it in the evening after a full day of wandering. Breakfast was a pleasantly toasty croissant filled with ham and cheese, plus scrambled eggs, fresh fruit garnish and excellent coffee. The “Windsor” room was quiet, adjacent to the main house, with a dorm fridge, sink and microwave plus a walk-in shower, bay window and comfortable seating area. Reasonable price for the location and amenities. The off-street parking area did test my ability to drive slowly in reverse to leave.

This Bed and Breakfast is such a charming place. The staff is very friendly and the breakfast is amazing. The history of Penny Farthing is very interesting. The location is convenient to downtown where all the action takes place. Hubby and I enjoyed our stay & will re-visit.

This is a perfect location. Two blocks from Starbucks (although the coffee at the inn is excellent), and only a short walk to the alley full of shops, live music, and numerous restaurants to choose from. The staff here is incredibly nice and helpful from the second you check in, to the absolutely terrific breakfast-made hot while you wait. I’m celiac and they even made me gluten free toast the first day and gluten free French toast the second day-what a treat! We stayed in the Buckingham which was a very large room with a big sitting area and a very comfortable queen size bed. Only downfall for me with the bed was my bed hog husband. I’d shoot for a king bedded room next time (which they have five of). Nice touches in the room-you need to remember that you are in a bed and breakfast-not a hotel-so it’s going to come with its own personal charm. Very nice covered patio outside our room which I would have liked to enjoy but was so busy seeing all the walkable sights around me, didn’t get a chance too. The patio even comes with “off” spray and citronella candles for those pesky summer mosquitos-good thinking. I wish this young couple venturing out on the journey of hotel/airbnb management all the best!

We did not enjoy our stay. The room, which felt like a converted garage, was so depressing that we did not even want to return at night. The conversion was done as cheaply as possible, with furniture that felt like someone else’s throw aways. There was also a pervasive odor, holes in the sheets (holes!), a broken plastic toilet seat, teeny soap that didn’t even lather. We had to use our own. I could go on and on about how dingy and cheaply furnished the room was, but what would be the point? The owner’s purpose seems to be to make as much money as possible with the least amount of effort. Even the “nightly appetizers”, consisting of ritz crackers and the smallest pieces of cheese I’ve ever seen, were a joke. That was the first night. Nothing for the second night except for left over pieces of pound cake. The stay was not inexpensive! The only good thing about this inn was the location. We did not feel welcome or cared for in the least. In our experience, and we travel often (including to St. Augustine), this was one of the worst places we have ever stayed. Sent from my iPhone

It was a great 2 night stay, wish we could have stayed longer! Kaylie and Michelle were so helpful, nothing was too much for the lovely Michelle! The hotel was very in keeping with the history of St Augustine, it was quaint and quirky and we loved it! Loved the ‘happy hour’ where we sat out with wine and cheese and biscuits, breakfast was fresh cooked every day and they got gluten free bread in for me! If you like big flashy hotels this is not the place for you but if friendly, caring, clean and best position for the old town is what you are looking for then it’s for you!! We absolutely loved it and all the people there made it a great stay!! Barbara & Pete UK

We have stayed at Penny Farthing before. We were heartbroken that we were rear ended on the lengthy drive to FL. Our car was damaged due to no fault of our own but the daughter that is now running the inn didn’t even ask us if we were ok. I called her from the road crying because we had to cancel our much awaited trip and all she said was “if you cancel same day I need to charge you in full for the room because we can’t rebook it” . I was in shock and so upset I just said ok. We understand it’s hard running a small business but even a little customer concern or empathy would have gone a long way. The young daughter running it now has no customer service skills at all. We won’t book again and buyer beware.
