The Brown Palace Hotel and Spa, Autograph Collection, is steeped in historic charm and offers amenities like afternoon tea and live music, which many guests enjoy. However, some travelers note that the hotel’s grandeur doesn't always meet expectations and service can be hit-or-miss. Rooms are described as spacious but may show their age and vary in terms of cleanliness and comfort. While the ambiance during live music events and festive decor are highlights, numerous guests question the value, pointing to high prices for rooms and services that don't always match up to the luxury price tag.

First of all, let me say I LOVED the Brown Palace my first two days there in a “normal” room. The beauty of the atrium, the jazz trio playing holiday music, basking in the history of the hotel....But therein lies my problem. After spending Friday and Saturday nights there, I spent Sunday morning before my appointments dining solo in Ellington’s accompanied by fine food, impeccable service and the hotel brochure on its 125 year history. I couldn’t have been happier. After breakfast I took the hotel’s self guided tour and must have read every explanatory placard on its walls. I was especially fascinated by the two top floors and their Art Deco theme. So much so that I asked the front desk clerk that since I was a premium Marriott member, could I upgrade for free on my final

We had dinner in the hotel and the food was not as good as I would have expected. The portions were large, the staff were friendly and helpful. We were there for a catered affair in one of their ballrooms. The hotel is magnificent and the renderings were lovely. The music in the lobby was an added treat.

I have contacted the Brown Palace five times since my stay 2 weeks ago with no response. We went for a special occasion, and our kids put a credit on our account (unknown to us) so we could have a celebratory treat. Also, a greeting from them when we got there telling us to enjoy a meal or Happy Hour on them. We were never informed of this, until OUR KIDS ASKED if we enjoyed the treat!!! I am not sure if they even got a credit back. I could not get into tea, after being on a waiting list, and then being told we could have had tea at 11:00 a.m. (we were available). One elevator was also out, so there were long lines. My husband also recently had a knee replacement, and there was no easy way to get in and out, or wait for the valets. If there was, we were not told. I have been

Thank you for choosing to stay at the Brown Palace Hotel and Spa, Autograph Collection and providing your honest feedback. I am sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your stay. Specifically the issues you encountered with one of the elevators being out of service, and not being informed of the credit arranged by your kids. Please know we take this very seriously, as guest safety and satisfaction is our top priority. It can take some time to make necessary repairs to ensure our elevators are 100% operational and safe to use, but I do apologize for the inconvenience it causes during your stay. I sincerely apologize you were not informed of the $50 food & beverage credit added to your room. Nothing has been charged to your child’s card, as you did not have any food & beverage charges on the room. This is definitely not the experience we want any of our guests to have, so I sincerely apologize that your experience was anything less than exceptional. Additionally, for the unpleasant experience, I have gone ahead and refunded the $49 parking charge back to your card as a goodwill gesture. I would like to invite you to stay with us again, as I am confident we can exceeds your expectations on the next visit. Again, thank you for your feedback. We sincerely appreciate it, as it gives us an opportunity to better the experience of our guests.

Along the lines of the Greenbrier, Peabody or the Broadmore and others, the Brown Palace is a classic place with great modern amenities. The Spa is/was wonderful and strongly suggested! If you desire classic service - this is the place.

This hotel has a lot of hype about being a grand old historic hotel, which I guess it is (well old and historic at least). It is now a Marriott property. I have a lot of Marriott points I have collected over the years but am only a silver elite (translate - no real status at all). We are staying one night to attend our company Christmas dinner. Our room is tiny - they can barely cram one queen-sized bed into the room. There is no storage for clothing, and the very small bathroom has only a shower. (my wife likes baths) despite a specific request for a room with a king bed and a bathtub. (the hotel is old and historic). The book on the hotel in the room states clearly that there are robes in every room - no robes in ours. we called down to inquire and found out that

The room was spacious and had a nice closet. We had high tea and that was such a fun experience. On Friday nights there was a jazz band playing and so when you left your door cracked open, the music funneled through. There was also live music playing during the weekend, just something you don't often get to experience. I found the rooms very quiet, only problem was the adjoining door. Some wedding partiers were next door up very late and the staff took care of them right away. That was really nice. Great place to people watch, kind staff, loads of special events and weddings too.

We had been to the Brown Palace many times for afternoon tea or for a special event. But had never stayed overnight until this past weekend. We chose the Brown Palace to kick off the holiday season and it did not disappoint with its beautiful, festive holiday decor. We were placed in an amazing, spacious corner room (kids didn’t want to leave) and it was so comfortable for the 4 of us. We loved the in-room art that featured historical images as well as an old blue print of our hotel floor. Drinks and snacks in Ships Tavern is a must before heading out to dinner. The staff we encountered were professional and friendly - especially the door and valet staff. Thank you for helping to make our family night out one to remember!

The Brown Palace was always slightly out of reach, just socially! Picture ladies in feather hats and well behaved dressed up white children. Now affiliated w/ Marriott, we thought to try it out along with other riff raff taking advantage of a weekend rate. One set of two elevators serve all 9 floors. And whoops one was out of order for at least five days (not fixed yet). Long waits for the one, but they did make the service elevator available. Not so nice for your finery. We had a breakfast coupon, and (because of late elevator!) showed up at 9:32, and were told breakfast was over at 9:30. With all the pretty food sitting there and happy diners chattering away. The hostess lacked empathy or an attitude of wanting to make the guest experience lovely. Gone are the days of
