Great clean & basic home stay. 2 rooms in a very quiet & safe neighborhood with great places nearby (walkable). Our room was large, great aircond, extra dbl firm comfy bed, plenty of light & curtains, no facilities-but great outdoor area with secure parking, small ensuite -shower & toilet, shared kitchen with all you need, close to Hollywood with bus nearby, approx 1hr from LAX, Beverly Hills and great hosts. Enjoyed our (couple) 3 day stay.

We just got back from two weeks in LA. Sanborn Guest House was our home away from home and we couldn’t have been more happy to have this as our home base. Gary and Jaime were the best hosts you could have. They took time to show us where everything was located even though we got in super late at night. Everything you need is available and some. It is very clean and well maintained. The gardens are beautiful and the location is perfect. It was easy to get anywhere in LA from the Sanborn House and there are great local eateries and shops within walking distance. Thank you Gary and Jaime for being such great hosts and such a lovely place to stay!

This is a charming house on a quiet corner in Silver Lake, with a collection of neighborhood restaurants and shops starting just a block away. I stayed in the Guest Room, which is low-key stylish and comfortable, and perfect for a solo traveler. Hosts Gary and Jaime are friendly and helpful, but once they turn over the key, the place is yours. The location is good for transit connections as well as walkability. Staying here gave me a good feel for neighborhood life in LA.

My son recently moved to L.A. and we were looking for a place to stay for a visit that was close to Silver Lake. Stumbled across this place, which turned out to be half a block from the kid's apartment. Everything about it was just right for our needs. Perfect location near a lot of restaurants, quiet, clean, safe, off-street parking, and a usable shared kitchen so we could have our morning coffee without having to make ourselves presentable. Will definitely return next time we're in L.A.

I have stayed at Sanborn House at least 5 times. I often use four-day weekends to get away from the New York winter and enjoy the seclusion of thr yard at Sanborn. Arriving Friday night, the owner explained his car was moved, as a tree would be trimmed at the front of the house. This tree-trimming was a truck of men and chainsaws and it went on all Saturday and Sunday right outside my room. Brush and chips were everywhere, umbrella table removed, ladders and men right at my windows, that I had to shut windows and drapes. Blatant disrespect of guests and their comfort. Abhorrant greed to keepa room rented despite their major yardwork plans. Awful awful stay there.

the sanborn house is a good place to stay in hollywood. the house is centrally located at the heart of hollywood. it's 10-15 mins drive away from universal studios and is at least 5-10 mins away drive from holly wood walk of fame. it's near various restaurants so you can pretty much just have a good stroll in the hollywood area. the owner is nice and very informative about the area. with regards to safety, no need to worry as the house has a gate and is only accessible with a remote and a code. the neighborhood area is nice and quiet. the house has 2 guest rooms which has a shared kitchen. at first, i was quite iffy about the idea of having to share a house with other guests; however, there's really no need to worry about this as each guest room has a private bathroom. my room was nice, cozy, and efficiently designed. free wifi and cable are provided. the bed was comfy to sleep in. the bathroom, however, is quite small but workable. understandly, houses in los angeles are limited in space so it wasnt a surprise at all. if you want to stay in the hollywood area, i definitely recommend this place!…

We enjoyed the suite, the queen room, and the shared kitchen. Off street parking was a plus. We found the Silver Lake District to have great coffee, breakfast, and dinner destinations all within a short walk. We whole heartedly recommend them.

We took the "flyaway" bus from the airport to Union Station ($9). Then we took a taxi directly to Sanborn House........just under $20. If you take the Redline Metro from Union Station to Vermont / Santa Monica station you've then got a fair walk from the Station to Sanborn....no big deal if you don't have heavy packs..........there is some uphill. Once done it's very easy to use public transport, either bus or train to get around. For seniors the fares are very cheap. Cost us 35 cents from Sanborn House to Santa Monica. Bus 704 at the bottom of the street takes you to Union Station. Sanborn House is very clean. The guest room where we stayed has a private entry. It's very small but very well equipped with all things to make your stay enjoyable. The bathroom / w.c is tiny.......tiny. The walls are thin but did not disturb us. Good firm bed, tiny T.V, hanging space, collapsable desk, ceiling fan, off street, secure parking, etc. FREE wifi, NO SAFE. Shared kitchen should you wish to dine in. Lots of excellent restaurants and bars within a 5 - 10 minute Walk. Host Jamie is a delight and very helpful. We would return without hesitation........perhaps try for the larger room next time.…

Beautiful area, friendly owners, very reasonable cost. Walking distance of main roads, and parking, oh and don't forget the great wireless and a shared kitchen. For the price and location it's amazing. The gift card system provides some flexibility with payment, and the owners were helpful with some rebookings I had to do. It's my second time here, and I will use again for this budget of travel.
