this hotel was pretty up to date. But the lady that set our room up gave us a room that was on the maintenance list so it took more time to check in which I didn't mind but, if u were extremely tired and just not having it something like that could of definitely made someone upset. Luckily I wasn't that person. But the room we did get was definitely bigger and more spacious. There is some flaws with the rooms but nothing too drastic just needs updated AC the one I had did not stay cold! The beds were pretty comfy and the room was pretty clean. They didn't let my bf check in for me I had to get out of the car and check in due to security reasons. I'm sure if your handicapped it could be different circumstances but I'm not sure I'm severe asthmatic sometimes its hard for me to do anything (you know). All in all the room was nice and its a nice place to crash.

We were conditioned to what we would find by reading Trip Advisor comments and were not expecting deluxe accommodations. We were looking for a place to stay that did not cost a lot, but was nice. My wife and I stayed 2 nights.

Non smoking rooms were not available, but detected little smoking smell. Manager was quick to have us look at the room when we were puzzled at this predicament.

The room was spacious and nicely decorated. Came equipped with microwave and refrigerator (the suites side of things) and hair dryer. Nice big TV with remote. There was no in-room coffee or tea, but did not miss the poor quality it usually is in general. One waste basket was located in the bathroom and was not enough to handle things. No facial tissues were provided. Had to stoop to use the mirror over the sink.

First place we ever had to pay for ice (25¢). There is no continental breakfast, but in like places this has not amounted to anything anyhow.

The posted price included TOT tax, which is usually not the way it is done, but kept the price down.

Overall, we'd stay there again. It is as good or better than other motels we have used in the Glendale area. We don't expect too much!

We realized we had made a huge mistake when we had to speak to the front desk clerk though bullet proof glass. The room had been renovated in the last few years but a combination of poor design, poor craftsmanship, lack of shower pressure, and dirty walls made for an unsavory experience. The hotel is located in a somewhat industrial area that made us concerned for the saftey of our car in the parking lot, although we did not have any problems. It appeared as if there were a number of full time residents and there was also a lot of late night activity in the complex. Next time we will spend a bit more and try a different hotel.

Awful place from the beginning at the check in lady sitting in chair stays seated she doesn’t greet or say welcome like she’s forced to be there no personality. The hotels website available room rates which were literally showing in real time and she says not available and she’s quotes higher rates that gets straightened out and the check in continued she hands over card key and off we go to see the room mind you the motel outside looks new not creepy approaching the room already showed negatives next to maids utility room and right at the top of stairs so everybody walking up to rooms you can hear . the door is filthy on outside door opens and the smell of cleaning chemicals was overpowering like cheap industrial cleaner which we got a headache from it was so strong . The bed was so soft our backs hurt next day there were spiders in the room and bed the sheets dirty the dingy white bath towels were nasty and damp really needed bleach and high temperature dry . The clientele we witnessed is shady . Next morning the loud noise of maids talking banging around in their utility room next door , We think the lady at check in knew this when she assigned us this room for us wanting the lesser rate we found and for being an one night stay on top of that at 930 and 940 am ( checkout is 11am) maids knock and try to open door we had the double lock engaged . Why are the maids entering occupied rooms before check out time without checking their list of vacated rooms . This is not to generalize but was our third awful experience with Indian owned motel proprietors . Where they all had poor reviews we saw after the fact . Overall an uncomfortable nights stay ,Never again!

This hotel rates fairly well on TripAdvisor. Probably because there are a lot of positive reviews mostly siting closeness to tourist attractions, cleanliness, and great value for your money. With some caveats, it is all these things but I hope my review will give you some context before you decide to stay there.

We needed to spend a couple weeks in Glendale settling our son at a local college and taking a vacation at the same time. We stayed at the Glen Capri based on the mostly positive reviews in TripAdvisor. If you are familiar with and are comfortable with a Holiday Inn or even a Motel 6, this hotel may not be the place for you. If you are from Canada, it may be a culture shock to stay there. We arrived to check-in to find the counter with a protective glass between us and the attendant. You must pass keys and credit cards through a small slot in the counter. I live in a big city in Canada and still found this to be a little unnerving. I am not trying to make a statement about America vs. Canada and certainly do not mean to offend anyone. I am just telling you our profile so that if you identify with it, you can make the best decision for you.

We booked two rooms for our stay - one for my wife and I, and one for our son. As soon as we opened the door to room 202, we were directly hit with a strong, unpleasant, ammonia like smell. If you are sensitive to perfumes and odors, you would not be able to stay here. We checked on our second room (201) and it was more acceptable. I tried to get our room switched but talking through the protective glass trying to explain the situation to the attendant was challenging. However, I did end up learning the hotel was fully booked and there were no other rooms available.

Being August, the weather was hot and the air conditioning unit in 202 did not function well. Some slightly cool air flowed but it was not enough to keep us cool and comfortable. I think it needs replacing. The air conditioning unit in 201 was newer and worked well. Maid service the next day was poor. They did not replenish the toilet paper or replace the sheets and I had to deal with the attendant behind the protective glass again. However, the next day the maid service was much better. We got toilet paper and the sheets were changed.

In summary, this was not the hotel for us but it seems popular with a lot of people on TripAdvisor. Although the maid service is inconsistent and some rooms may have a strong smell, the rooms were reasonably clean. The hotel could be a good base to visit Hollywood, Los Angeles County Museum of Art (where La Brea tar pits are), The Huntington Gallery and Library, Griffith Observatory, Universal Studios, and the LA Dodgers. At $71 per room a night (single double bed), it may be a good price point for some as hotels in Glendale seem to be more pricier than other areas. Oh, the Wi Fi was very good and free.

One interesting place across the Glen Capri parking lot is the Corner Bistro Cafe. It is a hookah cafe which becomes quite lively at night as a place for people to socialize, play cards, and smoke hookah. The people and waiting staff are friendly and welcoming. My wife and I ate breakfast and dinner there a few times and also had some beers while enjoying the interesting atmosphere. The waitress told us hookah is flavored tobacco but it was not offensive to non-smokers like us even though people were smoking near us. It is not like cigarette smoke.

After our 3 night stay, we moved on to another hotel....

I arrived late night and the front desk guy took advantage of that.. He charged me $100 and would only take cash.. Then I saw my room and realized what a huge mistake I had made. It was on the first floor and the windows didn't lock.. There were two large windows with no screens or anything.. I felt completely unsafe. Anyone could break in while I was sleeping ... Also the windows faced the back of building that was dark with a bunch of trash everywhere.. It looked like the backyard of a hoarder. The room was very old looking but did seem clean.. The jacuzzi in the middle of the room was off putting .. I started to wonder if they rented this room by the hour.. Needless to say I got there at 3 am and left an hour later for a real hotel. The front desk guy wouldn't refund my money and told me it was perfectly safe... Never again..

Arrived at midnight with my gf to what we thought was a safe area. We were given room 203, it was basic but acceptable. As we entered we could here violent screaming from a women next door. My girlfriend and I were extremely concerned for the women next door and out safety. We checked out immediately (within 10min) and reported the incident to the onsite manager and police. The next day we called for a refund through the company we booked the hotel through. They spoke with the manager of the hotel who denied any complaints were made. I phoned the manager directly who denied all claims I made to him in person the night before and hung up on me denial all interactions. He also lied to the booking agency! Extremely poor management

We stayed at the Glen Capri over New Year's based on the reviews in Tripadvisor. This motel is nothing like it is represented. This is a bare bones operation. Rooms are barely 2 star. Old bed, linens, pillows. No kleenex, no washcloths. 2 tiny towels. Awful soap. Had to ask for pillows. Microwave had to be the oldest model still in existence. Please note that most of the reviews here are from local people - obviously friends of the owners. Staff seem nice enough, but do not stay here. Owners family lives here - they answer the phone in their rooms and communication is very odd and difficult. Was a struggle trying to get a room confirmation. Family and kids going in and out the doors. They want to be paid in advance when you check in. Tripadvisor - please check this place out.

This motel is really old. The room is large & appears clean but old with nothing extra-no coffee maker & not even plastic cups & if you want ice it will cost you a quarter. The shower doesn't work & the man at the front desk was surly. The only thing it has going for it is it's a short ride down the street to the restaurant row in Burbank & close to the zoo.
It's in an iffy sort of neighborhood & if this is any example, I found a hollow point bullet on the ground next to my car- just saying!

I moved back to L.A. for my job and could not find an apartment or house for close to a year. I visited the Glen Capri, for what I thought would only be a month or two. It turns out it was for a long while. This hotel was home for me and if I had to stay anywhere for an extended period of time again, it will be the Glen Capri Motel. It was equipped with a kitchen that I could cook and make meals, I should say dinners, has a great flat screen tv, with great channels, and the bed is comfortable as well. The girls, who clean, come by daily to see if you need anything and the staff became much like family. It is a great place to stay, if for one night or an extended stay. I appreciate all that they did for me while I was there. You'll appreciate this hotel, it's right downtown Burbank, and central to most any business you need to be near. Thank you all for your hospitality!!!!

I agree. I can't remember but most places are between 2 and three but if you call them in advance they can usually help you out.
