Beautiful, comfortable, spacious room with deck on the second floor overlooking the shore and ocean. Only stairs available to get to the second floor. So nice to hear the ocean all night. (We kept the patio door open.) No breakfast on site. I brought food to our room, (nice little table by the patio door), and we enjoyed breakfast overlooking the ocean. We loved staying there and we would stay there again when in Ft. Bragg.

This is a pleasant hotel at a great location. Our second story room had a nice private deck that looked out toward the ocean. There is a bicycle trail between the hotel and the shore which leads four or five miles to the north, and a mile to the south. The area between the hotel and the ocean is an extension of MacKerricher State Park. There are several "volunteer" trails that lead down the bluffs onto some nice beaches. Our only complaint is that daily maid service is not provided, but new towels are available on request.

We stayed at the Salmon Surf Lodge on a Monday and Tuesday night in June. We stayed in the owner suite. We loved having the two bedrooms, and the two bathrooms. The large jetted tub in the master suite was amazing… I am 5’11”, and my husband 6’2”, and both of us are not light people. We could’ve easily fit in the tub together. My daughter and I both got bath bombs to have baths, and it was magical. Easy access to Puddin Beach, and right off of the miles long trail that runs along the back of this hotel. As guests of the surf and Sand Lodge, we could rent bike rentals from the sister hotel next-door. They were eight dollars an hour, and the trail that runs along them, stretches well into the city along the beach, and to the state park. We absolutely loved our stay here, would love to come back in the future.

The receptionist (Bridget) who checked us in was very friendly and helpful. She gave us great and honest advice on where to eat and places to visit. We loved how spacious the room was. There were plenty of tea and coffee available in the room and at the reception area. The water was hot, and pressure in the shower was wonderful. The issues we encounter were the following: 1) The room was cold upon arrival and took a bit of time to heat. 2) The toilet was clogged, but luckily maintenance was still there to fix it. 3) The walls were thin, so we could hear the screaming parents and running/jumping children next door. 4) All the pillows were uncomfortably high for a back sleeper like me. I couldn't use any of them. We would definitely go back to this hotel again but ask to be in a room without (screaming) kids above or next to us.

Room Tip: Bring your own flat pillow if you are a back sleeper. Their pillows are way too high.

Stopped off on a road trip and so glad we did. Establishment was fully booked on a Tuesday in October so that says it all. We had an upstairs room with a balcony looking out to sea. Very clean and very quiet. Plenty of walks along the coast and we also walked into the town and tried the local beer at the North Coast brewery (Really Good). Love this place and will return if ever in the area.

Very pleasant stay with our dog. Very friendly check-in and they provided us with a list of things to do and restaurants in the area. The list provides phone numbers and times of operation. Our dog received his own towel with treats. They also offered a bed sheet if your dog sleeps in bed with you. Its location has access to the beach and lots of trails. The room was very clean too. The only negative I can comment on is that the lobby doesn't open until 8 am and there is no breakfast or coffee offered. Otherwise, I highly recommend this hotel.

We stayed two nights as we made our way down Hwy 1. The views from our room were amazing. The property was quiet and clean. All! of the staff that we encountered both at this hotel and The Beachcomber next door were absolutely wonderful during our stay. I left an item behind and they promptly located it to mail back to me. I highly recommend visiting!

We stayed 3 nights and had a pleasant experience at the Surf & Sand Lodge. There was no air conditioning, but we were able to sleep well by leaving the balcony slider open to allow the cool breeze in. And the soothing sounds of the waves from outside provided the perfect lullaby. Fort Bragg is a sleepy little town, not much to do. But it’s ideal if you’re looking for an ocean side getaway with plenty of peace and quiet. Pros Location and scenery. Room was very clean. Granite counters and tub surround. Room supplied with small table & chairs, microwave, tv, fridge, entry bench, and pair of bathrobes. Huge soaking, jetted tub with a view of the ocean. Patio/balcony with lounge chairs (no umbrella) and small table. Reception staff was friendly and helpful. Cons Room pricing was too high for the value. The bed and pillows weren’t super comfortable. An very large soaking tub served as the only showering option, making it tricky to enter and exit. Carrying luggage up and down the stairs was inconvenient from our second-floor room (no elevator) No breakfast is not provided. The lobby coffee is from a machine.     The beachfront is not really accessible (so no beach combing, sunset strolls on the surf.) Overall, would recommend.

Great view from room balcony. But... we were on the first floor, and the view is better on the second floor. We had noise from a family with children above us, and in the room next door, but the reception took care of it and it worked out. No breakfast. Nice room.

Choices for a quality, clean, safe hotel along the Oregon and Northern California coast is hard to come by. The Surf & Sand Lodge meets all of these qualifications. Very pleasant stay. No air conditioning in the room, but we kept the door open to keep the room cool, and had the bonus of hearing the ocean waves to go to sleep by. The positives: Wonderful location and view Quiet hotel and room Very clean room Comfortable bed and pillows Very friendly and helpful front desk / owner The only negatives were: Room cost was too high for the value derived. Second floor room was difficult to haul luggage up and down (no elevator) No breakfast included Coffee service in lobby was from a machine (yuck).
