Wishing to visit Seville, Cordoba, Carmona and the surrounding area, we chose Finca la Luz primarily because of its midway location and the attractive room rates. The finca is located down a rural track approx 15mins from Seville airport and about 1/2 hour from the centre of Seville, Cordoba being about an hour distant. Although the Belgian owners were very accomodating and helpful, there were a number of issues that caused us some annoyance. The first being the owners insistence that the gate is permanently locked and you have to ask them to let you in and out. (we assumed that this was to ensure the owners dog did not escape). The second, was that on the day of checking out, we went for breakfast before we packed, upon our return our room had been entered and the beds had been stripped, surely this could have waited! Thirdly, probably due to its rural location, all of the neighbours seem to have dogs, these barked continually all night. Finally, the beds are very 'firm' verging on uncomfortable. We understand that evening meals are generally offered, but unfortunately during our stay these were not available due to the owners wife having suffered an accident. There is a bar/supermarket/restaurant about 10 minutes drive away, which although not attractive, served surprisingly good food. Other than the bar, there is little else within the area for food or entertainment. Although we enjoyed our stay, we feel that it would not suit a family with children or anyone who wants to enjoy a more lively evening.

Boy, we got picked up for 15Euro and transported to Finca La Luz. Little did we know - it was far from town, in a gated house - the only way we could leave was by requesting a lift out of town and if we were in town had to be on the last bus back at 10pm! It apparently is too rough outside the house for tourists, my friend and I cried in our huge accomodations (plus, yes but none the less not required) and sort accommodation closer to the city. The meals were nice and the room was huge. But water only turned on during certain hours, can drink out of tap so just provided with bottled water. No flushing of toilet during this time. Was just plain inconvenient and in the middle of the ghetto. Was disappointed that we were not properly advised.

With our two young daughters we stayed two nights in Finca La Luz. At first we were very impressed by the neatness of the place. But during our stay this changed. The owner threw the playing stones of our daughter away before even asking her, the gate was closed, unless we asked the owners to open it for us and soon we felt more or less in some kind of a beautiful prison. The beds were uncomfortable. On our last evening there appeared to be no food for us (although we had made arrangements about this!). We do believe in the good intentions of the hosts, but for us, young people with young and in some way unpredictable children finca la luz was not suited. We didn't feel welcome.

We stayed at the Finca for 2 nights. We are 2 young women, sisters travelling alone in Spain. We had made arrangements with the owner of the Finca to pick us up at the bus station on our last evening. He told us to call him from the bus station when we got there. We were mis-informed about the bus to take and so we got to the bus station at 1000 pm. There was no phone booth in the station and we were unable to persuade the owners of the cafe next door to allow us to use their phone. We walked along a narrow road, having to jump into the bushes whenever a car went by and finally after what seemed like hours arrived at the Finca. We knocked and shouted but they did not let us in the gate. We ended up climbing the gate in order to get to our room. The owner came while I was having a shower and started verbally abusing us and then he turned off the water for the shower. Later we could hear a violent argument between the owner and someone else. We had paid for transportation to Seville the next morning but he refused to honour the arrangement and other guests at the hostel were kind enough to drive us.
