Chez Guynette is the perfect mix between pension, privacy, chill vibes and “village center” atmosphere. The location is super practical, near to everything but still calm. We had a private room and it was simple, clean, welcoming. There is a big kitchen everyone can use. The terrace outside is very nice because you love with the vibes of the village. Good WiFi. Laurence the owner is so welcoming and nice and helpful. We really loved our stay and I highly recommend this place!

A good hotel, basic but comfortable. Self-catering facilities are resaonable and it is very well positioned for the roulottes on Fare harbour. The dormitory at the back looks very basic but adequate. It is very centrally placed but quiet. Wifi was good on the terrace, there is a dialy charge but it was reasonable.

On first impression it looked like a nice little cafe with a good menu choice, overlooking the sea front. This is where the positive experience ended. It was a Sunday so we didn't have much choice as other restaurants in the area were closed. I asked for the wifi code but they wouldn't give access as its 'only for customers' I said that we are customers! They meant residents at the pension. The waitress took down the order wrong even though I pointed to the item on the menu and read it out. I only wanted something small so asked for a simple 2 egg omelette (400) with the optional veg at 100 extra as advertised on the menu. They did the three times more expensive (and special) omelette (also veg) with chips and then tried to charge 1200. I queried the bill and the waitress argued that I was in the wrong and tried to tell me that I had ordered that omelette. The manager also argued with me even though she hadn't even been there when I placed the order. After some dialogue back and forth she just stormed off and said 'ok you pay what you pay'. The omelette received didn't match that described on the menu and contained ingredients that I didn't want or order. I had eaten most of it (minus the ingredients I didn't expect) when I should have complained sooner and sent it straight back. I ended up paying for what I actually ordered but I did give some extra money to cover the chips! It was quite a distressing experience, given the attitude of the staff, not the kind of experience to expect on holiday or a honeymoon, needless to say that we won't be eating there again. Also an observation that there were no desserts on the menu. On the plus side their chips were very nice, even if the service wasn't. There's food trucks/vans nearby that would be a good alternative for lunch.

The place is very basic and with that Im ok but the doors of both toilets cant be closed properly and that can be ( and was) very embarrassing. The women that run the place is not very nice and provides a bad feeling. I was staying 2 night at the doorms (there is a minimum of 2 nights) and the thing that upsets me the most was at the day I was checking out. I wanted to pay to use the internet but she didn't let me because she was afraid that my friend would keep using the internet. Using the internet cost 500 pcf which is about 5 USD and its valid only for one day. I was disgusted with this cheap behavior which leaves me with a very bad impression and a bitter taste!

It's right in the Main Street and by the supermarket and restaurants. It's a small town but, enough there. I met great people at the hostel which was lucky as the weather was terrible! Enjoyed the experience

And Chez Guynette is in a perfect location to explore the island. Our room was perfect size and we appreciated the overhead fan and screens on window. Bathroom towels were gorgeous and thick. Very quiet while we were there but that was ok. Owner was very helpful and gave us good advice about to see on the island. Only air conditioning could have made this hostel better.

I felt I had come home the moment Laurence, the owner, welcomed me at the airport. Pension Guynette is wonderfully well located in the center of Fare. The sidewalk cafe, part of the pension, looks across the street to the lagoon. I rented a room with my own bathroom. The bed was very comfortable, and the sheets clean and crisp. The cafe has a breakfast and a lunch menu, the food is excellent and reasonably priced. Wifi is available, but does not reach into the rooms. All rooms have a ceiling fan and a window that looks onto the yard, so lots of tropical greenery. Friendly, affordable, very welcoming and helpful. I simply loved it there and stopped in again on my way back from other islands.

There's a great view of the water and the town, but options are limited (no wine by the glass, even) and the bathroom is basic. There was no toilet paper! We both got the cheeseburger and salad two days in a row. It's convenient, adequate food. It's not cheap, but you are paying for the view.

I stayed at Chez Guynette for 4 weeks and during this time had a pleasant and comfortable stay. If you are on a budget it is the only place to stay while on the Island of Huahine. I stayed at the hostel for the price, location and reputation. I was never disappointed. The central location on the main street across from the water and yacht club allows you to come and go easily at any time of day or night. The owner is an animal lover and has several cats, a dog and a pet pig all of wish are well behaved and add to the relaxed and local atmosphere. Mosquitoes are everywhere in The Society Islands of French Polynesia. Having traveled there for two years I know wearing repellent, burning coils or having mosquito netting is the only answer to avoid being biting. The hostel has a mixed dorm room as well as private rooms at a reasonable price. Every day the entire place is professionally cleaned. The kitchen is large and well equipped. There is a small yard with a clothing line out back and a cafe out front with a beautiful view. At times it is important to book a reservation for a bunk as there are only 8 beds. Only the bottom bunk is used while the upper bunk is mattress-less and serves as convenient shelving for your belongings. The wifi is at an extra charge, there is a bike rental a few meters away next to the dock, yacht club and local artisan shop.

The dorm is OK, but it is on the way for everyone to the kitchen, so meanwhile you are sleeping people are passing by through the room to prepare breakfast. Also, the room is totally open so mosquitoes are free to enter. And the cats in the garden are quite annoying and wild. They'll jump into your bed while you sleep and even on the table while you eat. For the rest, the price is fair and not expensive, as well as clean.
