We stayed about 10 days in this flat hotel. The location is excellent, in Leblon, one of the best neighbourhoods in Rio, which has many shops and high-end restaurants. The reception personnel are excellent always willing to help and solve problems. The apartment was very clean but the furniture was spartan. There was a leak on the A/C unit. The security is also very good. The pool is nice but there is no fitness room. There is also no breakfast service. On the whole I liked the place and will come back.

My stay was Ok, but partition are too thin and Brazilians play their music very loud. Some units are better than others. Location is great, restaurants, night live and transport. Staff is co-operative but their level of English deserves improvement.

I recently stayed at the Claridge and loved it. We stayed at a pricey Winsdor hotel in Copacabana and the experience at the Claridge was hands down much better. The neighborhood is amazing - great restaurants everywhere and a nice grocery store in the ground floor of the building. The room was spacious - probably 4x or more larger than the space we had in Copacabana and a large balcony as well. We felt like we were living in upscale Rio (in Leblon) versus the more touristy and gritty Copacabana. Cheers to the Claridge - it helped make our Rio trip fantastic.

The Claridge is actually very well located, in the heart of Leblon (best neighborhood in Rio) but rooms are really bad. Those are large rooms, with a small kitchen, living room, wc and a bedroom. But furniture is old and rooms are not really clean. My room was turned to Rainha Guilhermina Street and for that reason really noisy....even being in the 10th floor. If you book in advance you can find better hotels in the same region such as Marina Palace and Ritz for the same price. Staff was very polite.

I have been several times at this flat/hotel located at the end of Leblon. It is possible to both rent a private apartment (in such a case, no visa but payment in cash) or to hire an hotel apartment. I would suggest the first option: in such a case, in fact, the apartment is doted with everything one may need. Among the facilities: squash square and a roof with solarium and swimming pool. The breakfast is not cheap and less complete than other hotels. In any case, reccomanded.

The residence is in line with the prices of Rio. Apartments change completely, depending if they are private rentals or of the residence itself. The one owned by the structure are very simple and the kitchen lacks of some utilies, Cleaning is accurate and the staff is very kind. Must see, the pool and hydro in on the roof, with a nice view of the Christ. Also has a small gym at the second floor.

There's a lot of tradeoffs with this place, so it really depends on what you're looking for. Safety vs Convenience. Plus: Leblon is a really nice neighborhood, the richest in Rio, so it's extremely safe, even at night. Negative: Everything is pricey here, especially when it comes to dining options. This is where the rich boring people live so there's nothing to do here. The heart of nightlife, dining, cultural opportunities, and tourism is Copacabana, but it's definitely not as safe as Leblon. Peace & Quiet vs Active Plus: It's only a few blocks from the beach, and a quiet stretch of the beach at that. Negative: Leblon beach is the extreme west end of Ipanema beach. It's pretty much dead, which is good for peace and quiet, but bad if you want social interaction, people watching, or things to do on the beach. Close vs Far Plus: it's not far from Ipanema and Copacabana. Negative: It's not all that close either. We never had reason to go to Ipanema (which it is close to), and it's a about a US $14 cab ride each way to Copacabana. If I had known how often I would be cabs making this run, I would have stayed in Copacabana. Good Value vs Personal Comforts Plus: The staff tries very hard to be helpful. The rooms are an acceptable size (barely) with a full kitchen (with full size fridge), balcony, living and dining area, and a separate bedroom. The AC works great. The view was good. I could see Christ the Redeemer from the balcony. The location within Leblon was good with an easy walk to dining options, and a mini mall. The lobby was very comfortable. The free wifi worked (although a bit slow). Negative: I would have knocked down the walls and made an open floor plan because it all felt a bit cramped although overall far larger than a standard hotel room. Only half the staff speaks English or Spanish (but they really do try their best to be helpful). The continental breakfast is awful, with too many local dishes not edible to a tourist trying not to get sick. The bathroom is uncomfortably snug for a big guy: I had to press against shower stall wall to open or close the shower door; the toilet is far too close to the wall; the sink faucet doesn't project far enough away from the basin making hard to wash hands. Overall: I know my review sounds very negative, but I think we got good value. If I were comparing it to an American chain, I would say it's on par with a Ramada Inn/Fairfield Inn/Holiday Inn Express. If it were in Copacabana, I would stay there again, but I think the location is not for everyone. For example, I'm sure my mother would love it. I think older people or people with kids would love it. But if you're actually in Rio to have fun as a young person would, stay in Copacabana.

Response from diegopcoelho, E-commerce Manager at Mc Flats The Claridge
Responded Sep 16, 2010
Thank you for your review, it is very important to us, our guests opinion. Almost everything that You´ve talked is about the location of the hotel, Leblon. It is a very noble neighbourhood of Rio de Janeiro, where you can find excellents options of restaurants and cultural atractions and is a very safe place to walk, even at night. Like You said, in this visit to Rio You were looking for another kind of things, which are a little bit further(walking) from the hotel. Maybe in the next time the Promenade The Claridge will be the right option for you. Thank you again and best regards.

Three blocks from the beach, next to great restaurants and bars and a few minutes walk from Leblon Shopping Mall. The apartment was equipped with a kitchen and had A/C. The breakfast was simple but good. If you want to stay next to Leblon, Ipanema or Lagoa, this is a great option.

I have stayed here several times and find the rates reasonable for a very good location. You are 3 blocks from the beach, one block from the great restaurant "Carlota's", and near many other restaurants, bookshops and a good wine store. Additionally you are not far from the botanical gardens. As it is a flat/hotel it's very easy to stock up in the super market just below. The views are nice. You are also not far from Guimas, another good restaurant, nor Shopping Leblon.
