A very disappointing experience. This futuristic-looking, sail-shaped, bay front hotel is located close to the city’s cruise terminal, leisure and business districts but some distance from the main rail station. A privately run train line does however connect the Minatomirai area with Yokohama station and its adjacent shopping district. The lobby is spacious and impressive if a little dated in terms of its decor and styling. The service at reception felt slow and cumbersome and the level of spoken English was very variable between the front desk staff I spoke to, with many communication difficulties. Many other staff spoke only Japanese. The bedrooms, many of which have enviable city views, are generously sized, but I found them to be very poorly maintained and in exceptionally poor decorative order. The first room to which I was assigned had significant damages to furniture and fixtures and stained, dirty carpets. This was excused by a manager as being down to the hotel’s age (it has evidently been opened 31 years now), however I have stayed in much older hotels which have enjoyed investment to keep them far better maintained. Breakfast was a very mixed experience with long lines for time-restricted tables in the ground floor buffet restaurant. Whilst the pastries and breads were delicious, the hot western breakfast items were less well prepared and did not look as appetising. On each day of my stay I was unable to order any kind of specialty coffee as the machine was broken. Even the provision of hot milk for my coffee proved to be beyond their capability. The whole experience fell way short of what I have come to expect from an Intercontinental branded hotel. I would certainly not return here nor would I recommend it to others who are seeking this brand’s usual very high standards.

Chose this hotel as an overnighter prior to cruise. As we came very early I was most appreciative they offered a half priced room rate for us to check in earlier rather than pay for full day A big positive plus plus for this hotel. It was well located and within walking distance to shops and restaurants. Room was spacious, clean and comfortable and WiFi good. Overall a comfortable and pleasant stay.

Beautiful hotel located near port where cruise ships arrive. Many rooms overlook the giant Ferris wheel etc at Cosmo World. Many restaurants and shops within walking distance. Eat at mall instead of expensive hotel restaurants. There’s even a McDonald’s and Starbucks for those looking for non Japanese food. We visited mid March and the restaurant off lobby offered Strawberry desserts and tea time while overlooking the water. Grab the shuttle bus from hotel to airport for 8 yen with numerous departure times. Hotel provides pyjamas, toiletries including toothpaste/brush. We’ve heard that the gym is free but you have to pay for the pool use… we didn’t try either. Staff are very helpful.

A lovely hotel, staff is wonderful, rooms are spacious, a great deal for the price. The bus from the hotel stops at the front door, a great low cost option. Yes, the rooms could use some updating, but the staff of the hotel more than make up for the 90's decor. Wonderful and memorable stay.

I stayed here 3 nights before a cruise. The rooms were very large for Japanese standards and very comfortable. I had a great view over the Ferris wheel. The bus from Narita airport goes direct to Yokohama and stops at the hotel which is great. A shopping mall attached to the hotel is convenient too.

Great location for cruising as it's only a short hop in the taxi to the cruise terminal. The hotel is pretty large and a bit of a landmark on the bay. Clean and comfortable. Rooms are a reasonable size with as expected Japanese amenities in the bathroom. I loved the heated toilet seats :) Wi-fi works well. Price was reasonable. Breakfast was a little bit of a guddle (and hence the 4 stars). Both days we stayed there we had to queue a little until we could be taken to a table. Once in, the service, food selection, and quality was good. Nearby (across the road) is a brand new mall and metro station for easy access to the city. Along the road is another mall and the Cup Noodle Museum. If I ever get back to Yokohama, it's certainly a hotel I would consider again.

I stayed at the Intercontinental Pacifico for four nights while attending a conference at the hotel. The rooms were well-appointed and large by Japanese standards, the beds were comfortable, and the bathroom was also roomy. There were a decent number of restaurant choices, and the breakfast buffet had a nice mix of traditional Japanese food and more Western choices, though I wouldn't describe it as a Western breakfast. Many local sights were within walking distance, and good views of the city and bay, depending on your room location. If you're coming in by train, it is about a 15-minute walk from the Sakuragichō Station, and that can be done mostly inside via the Yokohama Landmark Tower.

We had a chance to stay at the Intercontinental in Yokohama during our recent trip to Japan. Yokohama was a wonderful place to explore and the Intercontinental was the perfect location from which to base those travels. We had a very nice, harbor-facing room - the hotel has many amenities including interesting shops and good restaurants. The hotel seems to be a favorite for Japanese weddings, as we saw many wedding parties during our stay. Also, be aware that there are two Interconninentals in Yokohama - the other is on Pier 8. It is conveniently located near the Cruise terminal.

The first words spoken to us when we stepped out of the taxi were"CHECKIN IS 3PM". (It was 2:30pm). Not a word of welcome - valet had no idea whether we had secured earlier arrival by booking the night prior, my status in the IHG program etc. This started the tone of our 1 night stay. After endless discussion and argument at check in to ensure I was given both the Ambassador and Platinum benefits of the Intercontinental loyalty program, it was 2:45 pm. The agent refused to hand over room key as it was not 3pm. I do not believe that a hotel with almost 600 rooms does not have the ability to give you a room 10 minutes before check in time.It causes massive congestion in the lobby with everyone milling around. Miraculously after some more discussion I was granted access with attitude - like it was some sort of big favour. The welcome amenity was a voucher for one drink from a really cheapo drinks "special" menu - tea, coffee, soft drink, cheapest house red , white or beer. Compare this to the Intercontinental the Strings Tokyo 2 weeks ago where you can have anything bar the really fancy seasonal cocktails (and a voucher for both guests in the room). I booked a room called "King bed premium harbour view showerstall high floor". The description allows them to make you think you have an upgrade - my room was on the 29th floor and apparently should have been no higher than the 25th floor according to the agent, so they gave themself a big pat on the back for granting an upgrade!! A fake upgrade. I would prefer they just stick with the truth, I knew I had booked a room in a category for which there was no better room type that met the upgrade rules. Breakfast was included in the rate plan I chose, but if not 42000JPY is the walk up price. Being a Sunday morning it was busy, and nothing special. The fruit selection was very limited. The ticket I was given for breakfast requested guests be seated for no longer than 1 hour. There is an omelette/ fried egg station but my easy over fried egg was not monitored and ended up a hard rubbery mess. It is a mass market hotel in a convention complex and it felt like it.
