My little, simply furnished 12-room-pension is because of modest prices especially attractive for backpackers. The pension is located in quiet surroundings. It is next to the antique greek amphitheatre. However, it is only a five minute walk to the city centre and Kas harbour. There are various shopping opportunities and restaurants near the pension.
I booked Hilal online to work from there. After 3 weeks I left because the owner made my stay miserable. He was very moody all the time and sort of a controll freak. While people had breakfast he sat there on his couch watching everybody, to make sure we did not take too much of his food. Within 3 weeks my room was only cleaned twice. After asking several times for it I decided to clean myself. On my last day he refused me a shower after check out and said electricity was too expensive. He made me even pay for 1 glass of rake he had invited me for. For the price I paid there I could have rented a nice and clean apartment with a healthy atmosphere, real hot shower and with relyable internet. I cannot adivse to stay there. The place is very much run down and everything very old. This is probably, because his family rents the house themselves. There is so many nice places in Kas, no need to stay at Hilal, even if he tells you all the time about his special discount he gave you. Don't believe it because there is lots of better places and only slightly more expensive. …

I have heard that Turks are know for their hospitality and this can be seen at Hilal as well. I stayed there for 7 nights while diving in Kas and the room, breakfast, services were simply the best. I was quite skeptical at first when I saw the low ratings but still went ahead and booked this place as this was in my budget. And I feel great that I made this decision. The owner is very nice and will try to help you as much as possible, this pansiyon is run by the owner and his family so please don't expect high professional services. But the rooms, breakfast and his helpful nature makes recommend the place for anyone who goes to Kas. The only downside is the A.C. takes a bit of time to be effective and in short the facilities are not that well maintained but still this cannot be one of the factors of not booking this pansiyon.…

We stayed at Hilal Pansiyon for 3 nights during the Byram festival at the end of Ramadan, and were probably lucky to have got a booking at short notice. Our room was basic but had everything we needed - Queen size bed, aircon, ensuite bathroom and balcony. Everything was very clean and in good condition. The shower was great – the hot water is solar heated so just be patient to allow the hot water to come down. Wifi can be irregular at peak times, but is fast during the day. The roof terrace has fabulous views down to the harbour and is a lovely space to sit during the day or evening. Breakfast is served on the terrace and is fabulous – there is a wide variety of food including – fresh fruit, cornflakes/cereal, bread, cake, honey/jam, tomato, cucumber, egg, olives, cheese, and omelette or boiled egg, plus tea and coffee. The pansiyon is in an excellent location – 5 min walk to the main tourist area at the harbour/marina area. Suleyman, the owner, speaks good English and is very helpful providing local advice, and organising a sea kayak trip for us with a local operator. Parking on the narrow street can be difficult, but Suleyman will reserve a parking spot for his customers. We were made to feel very welcome and enjoyed our 3 nights – we would definitely stay again. Thanks Suleyman and team.…

Good location and atmosphere with good breakfast buffet with fresh fruit on the top level. Great views of the city. Friendly staff and air conditioning in the rooms. Hot water takes a while to get to the shower.... you must be patient. Wi-Fi ok.

I know Kas very well but have not stayed in a pansiyon in Kas since 1990. I chose this because it was one of the cheaper options (£80 for 3 nights B&B) for a double room. To be honest I was not expecting much but when we arrived the owner (who stays on the roof terrace) was very friendly, showed us to our room (which was a triple with a decent sized balcony) and told us that breakfast would be served on the roof terrace. Air con worked well, the bathroom although small was clean enough and room was a good size for myself and my son. Breakfast was a typical Turkish kahvalti (served with omelette on 2 occasions) but all the fruit and bread was very fresh. All the other guests were very friendly as well. I'd recommend the Hilal for its location (2 minutes from the centre of Kas), its friendliness and the price.…

we have used this place a few times and find it really friendly. Very close to the town and harbour. lovely bbq evenings. The rooms are quite small but very clean. Wifi is strong in all areas. The rooftop dining and dinners are brilliant for meeting the other guests and socialising. will definatetly be back.

This pension was excellent. they went out of their way to help in a very difficult situation. when my friend went to pay she realised she had left her card in the safe at a hotel over 70 miles away, he phoned the hotel got the bus driver to bring us the card which we received by 9.30pm that evening, this would never happen in uk. THANK YOU HILAL PENSION.

We spent a night in that horrible place, we had an expensive room : in the basement! can't be much smaller, dirty and hot. no A/C of course... really had the impression of being in a cave, there was a leak in the bathroom and the outside automatic light has turn on all night, no way to sleep. The owner was really inhospitable, saying about the high price "we are in Kas here"... like if it was the center of the wold! So avoid this place!!

We stayed at Hilal because we heard it was one of the cheapest places to stay in Kas. We planned to stay for about 3 days and ended up staying for 7 because we loved Hilal and Kas so much. The room was comfortable and clean, the included breakfast featured a variety of choices, the rooftop terrace was an amazing place to hang out and wifi worked consistently and reliably in common areas as well as our room. The location couldn't be better, walking distance from the bus stop and the centre of town. Suleyman is very well connected to the Kas community and was amazing at orienting us to Kas and sharing ideas for things to do around town. As soon as we got there he sat down with us as provided us a ton of information about the area and events/any discounts available from particular agencies he is associated with only if you were interested. This was all done in a totally neutral and helpful way and not at all pushy like I've encountered elsewhere and once he shared the information, there was never another mention of it again unless you initiated which contributed to a really relaxed vibe. Suleyman also did a BBQ one night which was highly recommended..tons of choice and delicious. Overall this place gives you amazing value for your money and is a fabulous place to base yourself to explore Kas. …

Great pension for budget travellers, rooms extra clean, but the service is 5 star. Make sure you go to the roof top terrace for breakfast, great selection and we also opted for dinner. Which was a highlight, traditional family style cooking should not be missed. This family hotel is really great value. Also about 100 metres from the free beach and about 5 minute walk into the centre of town. Will be staying here again.
