One and done. This place needs a major renovation. Dingy feel, torn and outdated furniture. Pool area is a mess with rotted wood and fixtures. The room was bare and dirty. The bathroom tiles full of mold. The ceiling fan covered in nasty dirt. The bathroom towels are thin and measly. The climate/ac is controlled by floor. I could go on. Also, didn’t realize hotel is not necessarily walking distance to beach or other parts of Asbury Park entertainment and dining area. Only positive was friendly, but not particularly welcoming, front desk staff. There are much better options at this price point.

This place never disappoints. The drinks, food and service are absolutely amazing. The decor is fabulous. Need to try the braised short rib. Their espresso martini and key lime martini are perfect. Re covid protocol...they are spot on. A must.

We have stayed at this hotel three times this summer and liked it. However this weekend we booked on the phone and were not told that there was a private men’s event (Bear Invasion) and the pool was closed to hotel guests unless you were participating in the event! Very upsetting to say the least, since every stay we spent at the pool.

My wife and I stayed here a few weeks back (July 2019). All of the other hotels in the area jacked up their rates and this place seemed pretty cool. We were in the area for a concert at the Stone Pony. It was perfect for what we needed, a place to sleep and shower. Walking distance to the beach. The flooring could benefit from some updating, but that's being nit picky. We stayed in a room that did not have a bathroom attacked to it, but running directly across the hallway wasn't really an issue. We didn't spend much time at the property, but walking thru, it seemed to have a very cool, party vibe going on around the pool.

We had an awesome stay at this hotel with another couple. The staff is very friendly and check-in was easy. The common areas are very nice and the pool area cozy with a cool bar. Would have been the perfect stay if the rooms were nicer - it was clean but a bit worn down and it would be great if they were more inviting. That said: we would definately stay there again and I would recommend it for a fun “adult” weekend.

Stayed here one night for a wedding so I didn't shop around. The location can't be beat -- it's walking distance to the beach, boardwalk, restaurants, etc. It looks like a big old house on a residential street. We parked on the street but there is perhaps a lot around the back. The hotel has a bit of a frat house feel, with no elevator, stained hallway carpets and smallish, bare-bones rooms. There's a bar on the main level and sound travels at least to the second floor where we stayed. The continental breakfast is pretty pathetic. Thought prices were high for what you got, but perhaps that's just the area.

Stayed at the Tides last weekend for a wedding. Its an old house converted to a boutique hotel. Room was small, but clean, queen size bed, nightstands, dresser and a small-ish TV with Directv. Bathroom was a decent size and updated. Shower floor rocks are not my style and not the most comfortable to stand on, but fine for a weekend. Hallways very plain and probably could use new carpet. Bring ear plugs with you to cover noise of neighbors and those walking in the halls So, the reason I didn't give another star was that the fire alarm went off in the middle of the night, repeatedly. I know that some guests went downstairs and outside. I didn't, cause I didn't hear anyone do that. But the issue is that the front desk didn't apologize, and in fact was defensive about the situation to other guests. He wasn't exactly friendly when I asked a good place to go to breakfast. The continental breakfast that they provide was basically some indescribable muffins and yogurt and coffee and juice. Not what I was looking for. I realize it is a small place, but some sort of apology and/or credit to all guests that night should have been made. They have a bar and nice restaurant as part of the hotel. Nice menu, not cheap, but I didn't eat there. Lovely front porch to sit on. Nice location near the beach, an easy walk. Same to the "downtown" area. They have a large swimming pool as well. Was too cool to use, but guess it would be good during the summer. Not sure if I will ever return to Asbury Park, a very nice beach and some good eats to be had (go to Portas). And at the price, I might stay at the Tides, but would have to think long and hard about it first.

This place is pretty cute. The decor is fabulous. Ryan was very friendly and a jack of all trades. A wearer of all hats. He was on reception, the bartender, a server, what can't this guy do? We had a very delicious dinner, accompanied by some good drinks. The fish was cooked to perfection and was well-seasoned. My only negative is the insulation or soundproofing, it's not great. I could hear the lobby phone ringing through the floor from my room on the second level. I could also hear all the housekeepers in the morning. The shower head was at a ridiculous height, intended for giants, which I am not. The vibe in this place is nice though. Check in early though as reception is not 24 hours.

We've been staying here regularly for the past 8 years. We've never had a bad experience. The rooms are clean and comfy. The staff is beyond friendly. It's a little off the beaten path, so it's a bit quieter than some of the other hotels in the area. Great for couples, and suitable for families - as long as you're comfortable with kids swimming in a bar area and are ok with climbing stairs.

I first found the Tides 5 years ago. It is tucked away just two short blocks from the north end beach in Asbury. Ryan is the hotel manager. He is such a character and so talented. The hotel has a cute cozy bar and lounge area with a fabulous restaurant. I hate to write a good review since for years The Tides was Asbury Park's best kept secret. The pool is open during the summer and has a small bar as well. The modern rooms are small but clean and well kept. You can easily walk to the boardwalk or take a cab to Cookman Avenue. If you eat at the restaurant be sure to try the short ribs or scallops which they are known for. The waiters are excellent especially Chris and Carl. Hannah is the cutest bar tender on the weekends and provides great service. I absolutely love this place and feel very comfortable there.
