The Hotel is a work of art with beautiful and comfortable facilities in our historical and cultural destination : Antigua Guatemala. Enjoy a quiet relaxing time and an unforgettable natural scenery from our roof terrace overlooking three volcanoes. The Hotel exhibits a collection of colonial style furniture in the most precious woods in Guatemala. Also its architecture is a remembrance of the Emblematic House of the colonial period of this town : Antigua Guatemala. All the house corridors, dining area, living area, terrace and all our guest rooms are carefully layout for a comfortable and authentic experience for a visit to remember for years to come. We carefully look over our cleaning, shining and decoration in our rooms. A delicious breakfast with options for varied tastes is served, always with freshly baked bread and seasonal fruits. Please ask our frontdesk for any other need. We also have a detailed map for you. We want to serve you with all our enthusiasm!

Authentic design and decor in an easy walkable location to downtown. Breakfast was delicious and bountiful. Views from the rooftop were fantastic. My room had a queen and twin bed, good for small families. The location felt safe and secure. Would stay again.

The hotel is located about a 12-minute walk from the main square and arch in Antigua on a quiet street. The rooftop offers a great view of the volcanos. The staff is wonderful and they served a great breakfast each day. The bed was very comfortable and we would definitely stay here again.

This is a charming bungalow hotel. Small with local charm. Although I can’t give it five stars, since I reserve something that for places that truly blow me away, this place will fit the needs of the budget traveler excellently! For the American traveler: The setting of this place is beautiful and easily walkable to shops and restaurants. The courtyard, not common in American hotels will be the charm you’re looking for with a fountain, and just a few steps up a lovely, open sky, upper level that has spectacular views of the volcanos. The coffee is strong and yummy. The breakfast hot and adequate. The bathroom is adequate with toilet that accepts toilet paper and let’s just say in Latin America that’s something to brag about! The shower was hot after you let it warm up and although the towels were worn, they were clean without odor. Also a hit, when traveling this style. I did not select this hotel, but was traveling with a group. Had I looked in the area I may have chosen something more elaborate, but for the two nights there, the sheets were clean, and the fan in the room worked. No AC. Doors with an old fashioned key. ;-) Windows with no screens. Just in case you need to know.

The place might be the best hidden gem in Antigua. Clean, quiet, cozy, and not expensive. All you need to visit Antigua. The staff is very helpful, and friendly. Breakfast is included. Typical Guatemalan breakfast but you can have pancakes.

Excellent small hotel about .7 miles away from Plaza. It feels like you’re back in time with ‘marimba’ music in the background as you’re enjoying your breakfast. The service is fantastic! We planned to stay one night but added another night because how welcome we felt. They accommodated everything we asked for. The price was pretty darn good as well. Definitely we’ll visit Antigua and stay at this gem.

I have stayed here for a couple of nights each year for the past eight years. I lead a church mission group to Zacapa each year and at the end of the trip, we travel to Antigua for some tourism before heading home. We've stayed at the Candelaria each time and everyone always enjoys it. The views of the city and surrounding volcanoes from the roof top patio are always a great way to welcome in each new day. Just head down to the dining room, grab a cup of awesome Guatemalan coffee and enjoy the sunrise over the surrounding hills. The hotel is small and very quiet, with a beautiful garden courtyard in the middle of the first floor that it open to the sky. The rooms are nicely decorated, with comfortable beds and very nice bathrooms. The breakfast is just enough to start your day in Antigua, with eggs, pancakes or yogurt as the main choices. Nothing fancy, just good basic food. Everyone working at the Candelaria is very friendly and helpful as well. If you want some typical Guatemalan souvenirs, there is a lady there, Victoria, who comes from a local village to sell her crafts. She works with a co-op of people from her village to make and sell these well made crafts, and her prices are very fair. There are many places to stay in Antigua, but the Candelaria is a top choice in my book!
