We stayed here three nights and found it satisfactory, if somewhat anonymous. The room was comfortable except for the absence of a comfortable chair (or two — for a room for two, why have fewer?). Puerto Montt was in a bit of a warm spell, and the room — on the west side — heated up quite a bit, without any means to cool it. Breakfast is included; it is basic. We had occasion to have dinner there one evening and found the food quite good, even though the room seemed a bit sterile. Ceviche, a small salad they prepared upon request, ajiaco (a beef stew almost), and caldillo al Pacifico (a seafood stew) were all tasty.

Good and modern hotel, very spacious rooms and bathroom. It's well cleaned and wifi is decent. Heated pool open from 8am to 11pm. Very little gym area, sauna was closed. You can score 50% off room rate if you look online.

I came on a business trip and chose the hotel because of an excellent experience with Diego de Almagro Hotels in Concepción. We got to the room and found out that our safe box was not working, the bathtub and the toilet were clogged and that the shower curtain was too short for the height of the bathroom (therefore, the floor got wet every single time we showered). After the 6th call to the reception (in the third day of our stay) a person went to open the safe box, but never fixed the problem with the combination (it was stuck in 000000). The parking was poorly designed, rooms were small and breakfast was way poorer than what is used in the south of Chile. Front Desk staff was nice, but unable to deliver upon any request. We asked for fresh towels one day and never got them. The next day we asked for the housekeeper to do our room, spend 9 hours out of the hotel and the room was not done when we arrived. Rooms had no air conditioning, which was a serious problem since in the summer the rooms in the last floor get warmer. One afternoon my coworker and i were reading alone at the bar. A soccer game was playing in the tv. We took the remote from one of the tables and muted it (we were all alone in the small bar), looking for some silence. The bar administrator came from across the dining hall (a 20 yds walk), took the remote and set the volume to a maximum and took the remote back with him. When i asked him to low the volume of the tv, to which he replied inquiring if we had "bought" the bar area. I can not stress this enough: DON'T COME TO THIS HOTEL

Has part of our tour, this was our second Hotel, we found it clean , big rooms nice on suit, lovely breakfast and excellent dinners, staff very friendly. the only thing missing was the facility to make a cup of tea or coffee in your rooms.. We had a half day to fully enjoy the natural attractions of the area. Bordering Lake Llanquihue, through Villa Ensenada and reach the Vicente Pérez Rosales (optional entry) Park to marvel at the green waters of Petrohué river and jumps of waters on the black volcanic rocks. We continue to Emerald Lake. and appreciating in all its glory the snowy Osorno Volcano. 2rd day we departed to the Chacao Channel to cross by ferry to Chiloé Island, which we will travel on our bus, visiting Ancud, San Antonio Fort, Cathedral, Regional Museum, etc. Impregnated in Chilota mythology, we returned to the mainland to go off to PUERTO MONTT, crafts (the purest in the area) its commercial center and the typical Caleta Angelmó with artists. . The next day we went to FRUTILLAR city of German colonization that delighted us with its black sand beaches and Germanic houses and gardens.then to Valdivia. At noon we embark to navigate the river Calle Calle and visit the islands of Mancera and Corral, with its colonial fortifications Castles San Pedro de Alcantara and San Sebastian de la Cruz. .

The hotel does its job. It is located near a supermarket which offers some advantages. The building is simple, but the rooms are clean and comfortable. The shower is OK, although mine needed some attention to avoid spreading everywhere in the bathroom. The wifi worked fine for me. The low point for me was the breakfast: eggs seem to be a challenge to Chilean hotel cooks, since they are always soggy and weird. The fruit choice could be much better an hot cereal is non-existent. Overall this hotel delivers a good night of sleep and I would easily return to it.

We only stayed one night so I can't give a very full review. But... What we did experience was the following: - bad customer service. Staff was not friendly or welcoming. I'm from New York and yes we expect too quality, but especially top customer service. - good breakfast. Nice spread, with good options. Not alot but definetly enough to be satisfied - horrible wifi. - good parking - decent rooms, nothing crazy - good price Would I stay again, probably. I'll just know not to speak to the staff

Everything was perfect. The hotel is about 10 min. Walk from the city center and the shore. It has free underground parking, pool, sauna and small gym. The staff is very helpfull, except the checking out took about 1/2 an hour due to inability to count of the women at the front desk. I was quoted $85 USD. Than we chrged to the room one bottle of water, took another one from the fridge and had lunch at the hotels restaurant. Those items were charged at the Chilean Peso. The women were not able to convert the money right, even thou it's 500 to 1. When I offered to pay for the food in peso they told me, they would have to charge me 19% IVA even for the room. Finally i took the calculator, did the coversion and payed the entire bill in US Dollars. I still don't know what that was all about. But we would stay there again.

We found this hotel at the last minute, very late on a rainy night. We got a great price and the room was very luxurious, clean and quiet. Perfecto! The breakfast was lovely, too.

RIVER GIRL 4 SURE wrote a review Mar 2006

Four of us stayed 1 night at the Diego de Almagro in Puerto Montt on 05 March 2006. The hotel is brand new and had only been open 3 months, so of course everything was new and beautiful. The rooms are spacious and we had 2 double beds in each room, and a large bath with both a tub and shower, cable T.V., safe in room, mini-bar, and medium size closet. We had a car, and they provide secure, free, underground parking. The have a pool, gym, and exercise room, available free of charge, and an internet room with 3 computers and internet service is free. There is a restaurant on site, and we had dinner there. The food was excellent, emphasis on Italian cuisine, and very reasonably priced. The service was excellent and friendly, including front desk and room service, and the rate of $99UDS included the most amazing buffet breakfast I have ever encountered: fresh juices, including my favorite, raspberry; bacon, eggs, sausage, salami, salmon; 6 different breads and rolls; deserts like cheesecake, lemon meringue pie (I am not kidding!), cherry crumb cake, some cookies, etc; a half-dozen types of cereals, hot and cold; many fresh fruits such as melons, berries, etc, etc, you get the idea. It was fantastic! My son, who goes to Chile a dozen times during the year said he would always stay there. It is 10 times better than the Don Luis where he usually stays, and there is no comparison re the food. The drawback to this hotel? The only one we could think of was that we felt it was best to have a car, since the hotel is not in the center of town, and you would need to take a cab to get to the waterfront, or Angelmo to shop. There was a large mall within walking distance, but Angelmo is the cool, fun place to go for souveniers. The hotel does offer free transportation between the airport and hotel, via taxi. You have to notify them of your arrival time, they then have a taxi waiting to pick you up and bring you to the hotel, and they pay the cab. You would pay cab fare to go to the waterfront and/or Angelmo, but that would not be much. We are down there a lot, and because we wanted to go to nearby Puerto Varas on business, we had a car anyway, but would get one again, just for the convenience. I have been a travel agent for 47 years, so I think I know hotels, and this is one of the best....even better than most in Santiago.
