K1 is the only club in Kenya with events every day of the week. And when I say events I mean an all rounded entertainment spot. From staff parties to your normal gig. Superb ambiance, great staff, polite crowd...the list is endless. Just from the manner that you are received at the entrance, to the service you get, right to the point you leave the premises, everything is top notch. The security is always on guard an standby, checking and frisking everyone that coming in(you can never be too safe). Once you are in you are greeted by the Spice Girls(there is no word like waitress here) that will give you excellent and up to the standard service. Once your reveling ends (of course in the A.M) there is always a fleet of cabs ready to take you home safe and sound(clearly they do not

I visited K1 a.k.a Klub House or Parklands Shade Hotel for the first time this Friday and had a fantastic time. They happened to be having Karaoke supported by a live band and that was super fantastic. It offered an opportunity to appreciate talent (I was amazed at the voices that performed), showcase talent or just have fun trying to sing. For those in the audience, afraid to step onto the podium, it offers just the right kind of enjoyable music that allows you to still mingle with your friends without having to scream ever so loudly and once in a while break into song in support of those on stage. The different airy sitting areas (covered shades) are just perfect for unwinding a long week with a group of buddies over a Tusker and some Nyama Choma. Apart from slightly slow

they have around 10 pool tables, well maintained, and during daytime it is quiet and peacefull there, so check it out, its 70ksh to 100ksh for a game, and its the best in Nairobi, their food variety is not all that good, prices are average for a club, it only attracts me because of the Pool tables :)

Usually I have to stay in traditional Hotels around the world. When I'm in Nairobi I always choose my favourite hotel - K1. Noisy location, clean, nicely located and everything is happening outside your door. Nice, friendly staff. I continue to come back. Best value place if you don't need a quiet place to sleep.

I only got to learn of this hotel late. I have been to the Restaurant a dozen times and I always enjoy the drinks and food there. I also enjoy the screens for watching football. The food I have eaten there has been well cooked, except one day when I believe the chef accidentally spilled chilli on my food. I also found the waitresses slow on one occasion but mostly they are around to serve. They should be more friendly, a smile will not take away much from them. I enjoyed Karaoke and live music too on some occasion. I am not sure I would try sleeping there because I am light sleeper and the music might prove unbearable.

I've stayed here several times now and can't fault the rooms which are excellent value at around 2,000 shillings a night (under £18 Sterling - I'm English), clean and neat and with ensuite showers & even gel. A bit like a Kenyan version of the UK Travelodge. They are a little worn but adequate for the money with colour TV too and you can ask for a mosquito net over the standard double beds (which I recommend, better safe...). The staff are friendly and helpful (but this isn't a 5* hotel, so don't leave valuables lying about and don't trust their safe, keep them on you). The hotel part is set back from a large entertainment area, which can be noisy with music late into the night, but the otherwise busy day-time traffic noise dies off at night so a good night's sleep is possible

This is an odd little hotel. It is in Westlands (busy, leafy, mostly Asian, outskirts of Nairobi) and set at the end of a side road . The hotel itself has two main floors. Some of the rooms look like a 1960's movie set with traffic cone orange plastic chairs and formica desks. I have stayed here three times in the last three years. The rooms are spacious with built-in cupboards for your clothes. The bathrooms are also large but lots of stuff doesn't quite work right. Once the tiolet would not stop running, and in another room the seal around the tiolet was wobbly and leaked a bit. They have a instant-on hot water system augmented with solar panels heated water so some rooms at some parts of the day have hot water and others not so much. The stuff is helpful but the feeling one

I recently attended a two week seminar in nairobi and spent my entire stay at this hotel. The rooms were quite affordable, clean and simple. The best part was that it is a few minutes from town and it has very nice bars. the food was also quite good. i definitely recommend this hotel for it's 'all-under-a-roof' services!!
