The hostel are very accomodating. Especially if you are disorganised travellers as we were on first arriving in Bangkok. It's all the things you'd expect from a budget hostel; ireasonable distance to BTS (sky train) and subsequent bus stops. Quiet laid back atmosphere with friendly desk staff. This hostel was constructing kitchen facilities when we departed the hostel...so it may well be you are now able to have meals on site. Would definately stay in this hostel again.

I stayed here twice. Rooms are clean and nice. And Internet speed is great! No breakfast included. But it has free laundry service,ah it is good service! Bath room was not too clean.. this is the only bad point. You need to walk 15minutes to the nearest station. This may be also disadvantage too. It is not in a commercialized area... So may be boring. But everything is cheaper than those areas.

When arriving in Bangkok with the plan of finding a teaching job On Nut guesthouse was the perfect base! The free wifi allowed me to look for jobs easily, keep in touch with my family back home and sort out directions etc for interviews. The location is just a short walk from the sky train so travel was very easy and the staff were SUCH a great help with everything! As i stayed for over 4 nights they fetched me from the airport at no charge and breakfast was included every morning, by FAR the best deal on Sukhumvit!

This place is located quite far from Bangkok city life. However it's a 10 minute walk to the next Skytrain station which takes you anywhere in the city. The staff is very nice and helpful, food delicious (although the menu made me wonder how they can possibly have over 600 dishes as a simple guesthouse?!) and the rooms are clean and safe. However the entire house smells like cats as there are a few of them running around everywhere (even in your room if you don't close your door) and the staff doesn't even seem to bother that some of their guests could have an allergy or simply don't want cats in their accommodation. Anyway, it is a nice place to make new friends from all over the world!

I'm not quite sure what people who enjoy staying here are looking for. This guesthouse seems to fall in between niches, and while it may seem quaint and off the beaten track, there are many other better options available. We weren't sure what this place wanted to be. A budget guesthouse, a boutique hotel or an international take-away restaurant. I think the problem is it wanted to be all of these things. Even the menu had over 100 pages (no joke, 100 pages) of food in every style under the sun. The problem with casting your net so wide is you usually fail to specialise in anything, and that is the problem with On Nut guesthouse. We chose the On Nut guesthouse because we used to live in On Nut, so knew the area, had friends here and needed to pick up a few things. If you are not looking to spend time in On Nut specifically, then this place would be a hinderance. The nearest BTS station (On Nut BTS, which is also the end station on the Sukhumvit line) is either a 10 minute walk or a taxi ride away. Moto taxis are fun, but if you only have a couple of days, getting into town is a hassle. On Nut does have it's charms, but I think in order to make the most of it you need to spend a good deal of time here. If you are just passing through then, other than the night market, theres not a great deal going on. The other claim is that this is a good place for the airport. When I left Bangkok, they were just testing the Asoke - Airport skytrain line, so if this is up and running then getting to the airport from the centre of town is now even easier, cutting out the need to stay in the peripheries. If you are here for the Bangkok experience, the well established backpacker locations may not sound too inviting, but they do function superbly as an introduction to this great city. The areas around Khao Saan Road and Nana in the centre of town may be the tourist traps, but they offer cheap accommodation and you certainly get good value for money. Often they have pools, free breakfast, cheap laundry, and are walking distance from things you want to see. Anther problem we had with this guesthouse was the pricing. Compared to other places in Bangkok, the value for money is poor. Laundry was the most expensive I have ever paid, even in the UK at a laundrette. On top of that it was just confusing. There were 3 different 'bands' of pricing for everything - bronze, silver and gold members (we never did find out how you qualified for each catagory) - and then there were extra charges on top and weird subcharges that were added and then deducted and then 10% taken off and divided by 2. We had no idea what was going on with our money, but we're sure of one thing: your money is better spent elsewhere in Bangkok.

you do not care to walk quite e bit till the BTS train, 20 min...or pay 20 bath to get there, which i didn t care to pay but still, walking in this heat is impossible for me. you do not car to share bahroom, and to be in a very very quite street and area, some peole likes that, some no, I was one of this second category. Anyway, Very friendly staff, nice room, average for that category,it was a promotion, except in kosamroad i think you can not get cheaper in sukhumvit area wich is the best for me wifi and BF included. So this is my revue. Alex

Shocking hotel!! Located up a horrid back street in a horrible area! I checked in around 1400 and was given key too my when I went in room I attempted too turn on the air con but it didnt work and had lots of wires hanging out and looked very very old! One of the staff came too my room and with a knife and attempted to fix it! he of course was not able to repair so I was moved to another room with a great window view-A BIG SATELLITE right in front of it blocking any sort of view! as I arrived in the new room I decided to have a lie down only for the bed too be broken! I looked underneath the mattress and to my horror there was just a very thin peace of wood which was supporting the bed! the bed was clearly very old but the hotel had tried to repair it themselves! after this I had enough of the hotel and went down to complain to the manager then check out! I checked out at 1530 so I stayed in the hotel for 1 hour 30 minutes! please take notice of this because I would hate for anyone too have too stay there! the only good point was I got a refund!!

this place is so cool.. far from the city noise yet very accessible by bus, taxi and sky train. we enjoyed our stay here and tasted their tom yam goong soup.. splendid cheese burger and thirst quenching singha beer.. it just feels like home puffing cigs at their front yard.. the guests are also friendly... i am looking forward for my next trip again, probably next year -if my schedule allows me too.. hehehe

Firstly, when you visit Bangkok, you automatically go into "cheap mode" Everything there is pretty cheap, including the accommodation. I stayed here for one night between airport transfers. I don't know why, as when you add up the airport bus fare and the night's accommodation, you're at 2/3 the price you'd pay for an 'airport hotel' But I kind of wanted to check it out as I'd be back in BKK within a couple of weeks for a 4 day stay. It was OK. I get there after 11pm, and left at 6am to get back to the airport. Room was huge (I stayed in the top level room - non air-conditioned but lots of fans). So I decided to stay there again when I got back to the city. Skytrain 'closeness' was a big plus for me. However, the skytrain On Nut stop was a good 15 minute walk from the guesthouse which was a bit of a pain. In the end, you get what you pay for, and it the hostel was closer to amenities, it would most likely cost more to stay there. I wouldn't be going back, and I doubt I'd recommend it to my friends. But for those ho like a 15 minute walk every morning and evening after a long day it would be perfect. One thing that really struck me was that those who were staying at the hostel were pretty unfriendly. I am not the type to try and befriend every traveller I see, but pleasantries such as 'hi' or a 'how's it going?' were poorly received, if they were at all. Not an indictment on the hostel, and maybe I just had a weird crowd, but it was quite strange to me. Staff at the guesthouse were very friendly and helpful
