The Boatshed is a small luxury hotel on Wiaheke Island - sitting above the beach of Oneroa with extensive views out over the bay. Best described as "barefoot luxury", this seaside hotel and the island its on are a perfect reflection of the modern New Zealand holiday - with a high level of design detail, beaches, vineyards, galleries, and stunning coastal walkways make this little place the perfect tonic for those wanting to get away from it all. We look forward to seeing you soon...

My husband and I stayed at The Boatshed for a night. As soon as we entered the property, we felt at home. The whole vibe is homely and cozy. We received a very warm welcome. Both of us are vegetarians and were made a custom meal as per our diet. The best part about the property is the serene and beautiful view right from our bedrooms.

What a spectacular place to stay. The hotel is beautiful and the views are stunning. Jonathan and his team are so friendly and charming. The breakfasts are fabulous, and the four course dinners were exquisite. Healthy, delicious, really top! We just loved our stay here.

If you’re looking for a genuine NZ experience where you stay at a gorgeous place with wonderful people and excellent service then take a serious look at The Boatshed. Jonathan and his team are a delight. We stayed in the lighthouse room and it was large, 3 levels with a spiral staircase and access to step outside. Make sure you stay for dinner you won’t regret it.

A true five star experience. From the welcome drinks, to the incredible views, to the perfect location, this is a top tier hotel in Waiheke. Walking distance to both the beach and the center of town. Our room was huge with an amazing shower and clear views of the ocean below. The staff was also excellent. Picked us up at the ferry stop and we never touched a bag the entire stay. Highly recommended.

Welcome to paradise! No kidding. In all our travels around the world, this is one of the best places we’ve ever stayed. Rich, warm, and comfortable. If it was a boat, it would be a luxurious private yacht with your own crew and chef. Dining is for hotel guests only, and breakfast and dinner are as good as most award-winning restaurants. There was fresh fruit, homemade cookies, and even Port wine in our room every day. Our sliding glass doors opened to a beach-style deck with teak lounge chairs and a view across the bay. The hotel even has its own little fleet of Boatshed Jeeps you can rent to tool around the island. We did not want to leave!

The Boasted was an excellent place to spend a few nights on our Honeymoon. Waiheke Island is a short trip from mainland Auckland by Ferry and easy to navigate. The staff, including Jonathan, Mila, Violet, and the rest of the team are extremely friendly and go above and beyond to make your stay comfortable. The guest-count is more limited than a corporate hotel, so the staff learns your preferences quickly and treats you like a part of the family. Additionally, the food was FANTASTIC. We had reservations for all 3 nights during our stay and decided to eat not only dinners but breakfast and lunches on-site because the food was fresh and delightful. Highly recommend to anyone traveling to NZD to make stop for a few days in "the Hamptons/ Napa Valley of New Zealand".

We stayed for 3 nights in this piece of heaven on Waiheke Island. We could not fault a thing about The Boat Shed & much preferred it to any of the luxury lodges elsewhere in NZ. Jonathon runs a brilliant operation where everything is immaculate, the staff warm & professional, the rooms perfectly appointed & the food & hospitality absolutely top notch. We shall definitely return next year.

We spent 3 wonderful days on Waiheke staying at the Boatshed. It was a return trip, having first come back in 2018 on the recommendation of friends, who spent part of their honeymoon here. It was everything we remembered and more. The hotel is tastefully furnished with lots of lovely touches. Jonathan and Mila were fabulous hosts and their relaxed demeanour totally reflects and compliments the beautiful hotel and atmosphere. We stayed in one of the boatsheds and loved waking up to look out to sea and thinking there is virtually nothing between us and Fiji, some 1,700km away. The food - breakfast and dinner - were stunning, so much so we were counting down to mealtimes! We have friends in Auckland. We’ll be back to visit them and certainly back to stay at the Boatshed when we do.

Fabulous from Start to finish, the decor was stunning and the service was 2nd to none. Breakfast and dinners were fabulous. I can’t complement Jonathan and his team enough. The Boatshed is definitely worth paying that little bit more for something truly special.

We arrived after ~30 hours travel from the US, and The Boatshed team greeted us warmly and graciously. They had managed to turn over our 4 rooms early (we arrived around 10:30am) and let us check in to freshen up. And the hospitality continued at that high level for the rest of our 2-night stay, from the entire staff. We had rooms in the main inn, which is set up like a home with several public seating areas in addition to the generously-sized seating area and deck in each room. At happy hour time, we took over one of those seating areas with our own wine and cheese, while the staff gave us glasses and plates so we could enjoy our first happy hour in NZ. We followed that with The Boatshed dinner, which was sumptuous. Highly recommend signing up for that one night! (But you'll also get to experience all the goodness of the kitchen team at breakfast...chef's kiss!!!) The team was generous in their recommendations of things to do and places to eat. And we enjoyed every minute of our time on Waiheke.
