Thank you for writing but please allow me to correct several points of fact. " Really disappointed, booked a hotel and arrived at a Band B" You made the reservation through Booking.com and the second sentence on the B.com web page I have copied here " The 4-star bed and breakfast has garden views and is..." The next paragraph begins " At the bed and breakfast..., ". The fourth paragraph begins " WACA is 21 km from the bed and breakfast..." I am not sure why/how you did not notice you were booking a B&B It can take a minute to get from the front to the back of the large Victorian houses, or from one house to another so I do apologise for the delay as it is no fun having to stand for 60 seconds in the scorching summer heat. " I am then put in a room with shower or bath and told its a shared bathroom…" We never tell guests about shared bathrooms as NONE of our bathrooms is shared. In fact you were in the English Room, a large room with a four poster bed, two lounge chairs, table and two dining chairs, writing desk and chair, Bose hifi system, air con etc. You had the whole top floor to yourself where the large bathroom has twin basins, a shower and a bath. We only let one room in that house so why you had the impression you had to a share anything puzzles me. We do provide the wifi code on arrival but we also put it in the information folder in the room as some guests forget since it is quite long and has letters and numbers. Apologies if somehow you did not notice it in the information folder in your room. You did indeed pay for Bed AND Breakfast. Every guest is offered, included in the room rate, our large and extensive, continental breakfast. (Eight cereals - including gluten free - yoghurt, strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, berry compote, rhubarb, peaches, pears, grapes, apples, mandarins, kiwi fruit, apricots - although this does vary a little with the season - dates, prunes, dried cranberries, dried mango, trail mix fill one sideboard, The other sideboard has two or three fruit juices, cold water and an ice machine, three or four artisan breads, jams, marmalade, local honey, peanut butter, nutella, and vegemite. I challenge you to give me the name of any other B&B that provides such an extensive spread). Meanwhile I don't think you mentioned the complimentary soft drinks and fresh milk in your room fridge, nor the complimentary tea, coffee, sweet and savoury snacks in your rooms, nor the complimentary afternoon tea/coffee with cakes and biscuits downstairs. When Booking.com started they took 5% commission, then 10%, then 12.5% and now 15%. For this reason we can offer a complimentary cooked breakfast to guests booking direct (who also do so at our most favourable rate) but for bookings through a third party there is a small extra fee for a cooked breakfast. This is clearly shown on the Booking.com page which I have copied here " Please note that the breakfast provided is continental. A fully-cooked breakfast is available for an additional AUD 15 per person, per day. You can inform the property at check-in." This is common throughout hospitality in Australia - and the UK I apologise again that you had so many misunderstandings but would urge you to read and listen carefully as all your points could have been anticipated given the information with which you were provided. .
