Reviews Summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.
Powered by AI
The Royal Hotel garners mixed feedback, with guests praising its prime location close to attractions and the beach, which significantly enhances their stay. The friendly and helpful staff receive consistent commendation, particularly for the quality breakfast service. However, some travelers have called out the need for room updates and better heating to justify the value. Whilst many found their accommodations clean, a few noted tired aspects. The hotel's atmosphere and ample breakfast are positives, yet limited parking and the need for refurbishment in some areas are drawbacks.

If you are considering this hotel - Don't! it is dirty, damp, moldy. The only good thing about it is you can walk outside and look at the North Sea. The beds are horrible, the showers worse, and the doors lock with a strange chain and hook.

Friendly, comfortable, clean hotel at super reasonable prices. Julie and her colleagues have thought of everything at this lovely seafront hotel. Delicious breakfast with options for dietary requirements, books to borrow, super comfy beds, great showers and complimentary toiletries. And such nice staff. I would recommend this to anyone looking for an affordable place to stay.

A bit of a dump really. I had a single room. The carpet looked very dirty on the stairs. No peasant welcome or even acknowledge ones presences. I would recommend this place unless your pretty desperate.

Great location in Whitley Bay, lovely staff, good breakfasts, parking right outside and a quiet single room for my writing retreat/mini holiday. Ended up booking an extra night. Will definitely be returning, this time upgrading to a room with a sea view! Thank you

My friend booked for the two of us to stay in a twin-bed room (actually a double and a single) for 2 nights. The location of the hotel is perfect - a short walk from the town centre and Spanish City, and opposite the promenade. Staff also seem very friendly, and breakfast was very good. However, the layout of the building, with no lift, steep stairs and a maze of corridors, makes it unsuitable for frail guests! Although I know this was a "bargain" break, I was disappointed by the condition of our room, which overlooked the flat roof areas of the hotel, with drain pipes, brick work and roofing covered in pigeon guano! Inside the room, it appeared that the radiator had almost caught fire at some point - there was a nasty scorch mark, with a large sign telling guests not to

Just stayed this weekend, absolutely nothing to complain about, room more that adequate, breakfast was lovely, really good quality bacon and sausage. In a lovely spot on the sea-front. Staff all really friendly.

Avoid! It is not royal in any way! The bar was closed for refurb and we had not been informed (we were going to a wedding nearby and a lot of us were staying here and had planned to meet in the bar the night before the wedding). Dirty carpets, kept my flip flops on after my shower! ( I had to be brave using g the shower!) Shower cubical and tiles thick black mould! Bathroom floor was filthy. Only one curtain on the window- wasn't fully attached to the rail and didn't even pull half way across. Shoddy workmanship all round! Most uncomfortable mattress with knackered springs and flat pillows. Smelt fusty and generally felt unclean. The only positive was the breakfast food was lovely.

The hotel was very nice although a little bit tired in places. Overall the room was very clean except for some dirty face/finger marks on both windows from previous occupants in the family room. The breakfast room was on the small side and we did have to wait for a table on the Sunday morning. Monday was fine though and breakfast was delicious. There didn’t appear to be a lift at the hotel which was a shame, and because of this I won’t be recommending my parents come and visit. Other than that, great location, and lovely sea view!

Just returned, our usual hotel was booked. We did check out the hotel our last trip by walking in the lobby which has been given a face lift - we wrongly judged that this is how the hotel would be POSITIVES Good location across from seafront, and beside good choice of restaurants Staff pleasant NEGATIVES Rooms are unacceptable standard - very old and in need of renovation not just a little tlc See photos - bathroom black mould in shower Bed was against the wall so hard for the other to get out of Bed was old and uncomfortable, uneven with springs gone Very little air in the room, just small roof windows that opened a little Breakfast was nice enough buffet of full english with standard offering and not a variety of choices for healthier eaters The dining room had no
