Built in 1877, New Road House is a Grade II listed, double fronted Victorian Villa with 10 letting rooms. Five are in the main house and five in the detached Coach House at the rear of the property.
Lovely big double room, with a sofa and en-suite bathroom. Tea, coffee, water and munchies. Lovely comfy bed with extra blankets if needed. Sue, our host, was very welcoming and friendly. Great location, only a five minute walk into the town and five minutes from the train station. Good selection for breakfast, both cooked and non-cooked options. We'll be back again!

Enjoyed a couple of nights in this guest house. Proprietor very welcoming and nothing too much trouble. Easy access to train station and nearby town. Excellent choice of breakfast, freshly cooked to order. Comfortable refurbished rooms.

Like many of us the New Road Guest House is showing its age and clearly has seen better days ! That said it is in a convenient location, has adequate parking at the rear and Sue, the owner, is friendly and helpful. Our room was a good size and whilst furnished with an eclectic assortment of wooden furniture, was comfortable and adequate for a short stay. It is a good base for exploration locally and particularly convenient for the train station. Breakfast was pretty standard for a modestly-priced B&B and quite satisfactory.

Very friendly people, room had what you needed. Bed very comfortable shower room was a little snug and you had to manoeuvre yourself around sink to sit on the toilet. My room was clean but lacked attention to detail and could do with updating. I would stay again.

Response from NRGH-Chippenham, Owner at New Road Guest House
Responded Sep 7, 2017
We appreciate you taking the time to leave a review. We have an ongoing plan to redecorate and update our rooms as regularly as possible but as this is an old Grade 2 listed Victorian town house and all 10 rooms are different it's like maintaining the Forth Bridge! Again, thank you for staying with us and we look forward to seeing you in the future.

We returned here for a family funeral. Proprietor extremely friendly and helpful. Our room was really comfortable and we had tea and coffee making facilities in our room. It was clean and warm. Would recommend. Breakfasts were varied.

We arrived in Chippenham by train and walked around the corner to the New Road Guest House - probably a 3 or 4 minute walk. We had arrived early but it was no problem to leave our baggage while we strolled into the town. Our room was an en-suite twin which was very clean and ideal for our one night stay.We never had breakfast because we were running in the town's half- marathon, but the owner, Sue,I believe, kindly allowed us to return for a shower on the day of our departure. Very friendly and helpful hosts and very impressed overall.

I stayed at the New Road Guest House probably for the last time at the end of June as the proprietors are in the process of selling up. I had my usual room and the service was as impeccable as ever. I now have the dilemma of finding a place to stay for future visits. New Road Guest House will be a hard act to follow as it is in the ideal position for walking to the History Centre and into town. Sadly all good things come to an end. Thank you to Sue and Laurie for making my stays so comfortable.

We were driving into Chippenham yesterday looking for a B&B & noticed the sign for New Road. We were very happy we did. The room was very comfortable, we had an ensuite bathroom & the shower was lovely & hot. We could walk up the street to a great choice of eating places & the full breakfast was substantial. Free parking & WiFi adds to its attraction. The house was built around the 1880s & it's history is very interesting. Sue was extremely helpful.

This remains my favourite bed & breakfast in Chippenham with spotless & comfortable rooms. Breakfast is substantial and it sets me up for a long session in the Record Office which is within walking distance. Railway and buses also close. I need look no further on my next visit to Chippenham

We stayed in Chippenham for a sports tournament weekend and found this really nice place to stay. Everything was perfect: Very kind hosts, very good breakfast, clean and spacious rooms. The guest house is perfectly located in the center of Chippenham. We can only recommend it.
