From the moment of our arrival to our departure, the staff couldn't have been more welcoming and hospitable. Lunch and dinner were both excellent, as was breakfast (perfect poached eggs, which are a mystery to so many places!). The room was beautifully decorated and very comfortable, with everything you would need (even fresh milk delivered to your door in the morning).
Dogs are very much welcomed and there were quite a few canine guests (all offered their own sausages at breakfast). That said, the place was spotless.
We will return!

We loved the Mayflower. Arriving in late September, we easily found a parking space and were quickly checked in, despite the friendly lady behind the bar being on her own and with several customers waiting. She was calm and gracious.

Our room was an indulgent signature as we really love a freestanding bath, and we were pleased with the size and decor of the room. The bed was comfy, the tea/coffee tray was well stocked and the wardrobe had plenty of hangers plus a hairdryer, fan and heater, to cover all British weather scenarios!

The bathroom with overhead shower and Bramley toiletries was nice and we enjoyed just being in the room. There was little noise so we slept well; just a little traffic noise in the morning as our room faced the road at the front of the pub.

Breakfast was delicious; I had the plant based full English and my husband had a (meat based) full English, and everything was nicely cooked and presented and served with a smile and just the right degree of attentiveness.

I imagine the pub is hugely popular in the summer with its prime location by the waterfront but it was perfect for us when we visited as it was a little quieter and we felt able to relax.

Recommended!

Decent looking old world pub, on arrival entered main entrance, very easy to book in, collected keys, directed to a side door within the bar area that takes you thru to the staircase to first floor. Room was clean, refreshment tray adequate, missing the standard uht milk, which was disappointing after a long drive, being ready for a cuppa. Bathroom very clean, bed very comfortable, overall living space was very good.
Breakfast, no cereals, menu ok, ( being boring vegans!). Service good, again overall good.
However, we both felt it was very expensive for the two night stay, ( aware of the bigger picture we’ve all been in) but still seemed way over.
Would recommend though, great location and parking.

Very Poor - Service wasn’t as advertised. Bathrobes, nespresso machine removed blaming Covid. No service to clean rooms, phone wasn’t answered so when needed towels had to go down to the bar. Had to do multiple times as was told would be sent up but weren’t. Complained afterwards on complete lack of service, weeks later they are still looking into it. Not interested in customer service. Have stayed elsewhere post Covid guidelines and had incredible service where they have adapted to follow the guidelines while still ensuring a positive customer experience. Mayflower has used it as an excuse to charge the same but cut their costs. Avoid this place, go to an AirBnB instead.

The bed was very comfortable and the linen and bathroom were very clean but the carpets were dirty and general maintenance was very poor. Three lightbulbs were not working - 2 in the corridor which was therefore completely dark and the main light in the sitting area. Two windows couldn't be closed properly and the bedroom window frame was dirty with cobwebs. Due to Covid regulations there was no housekeeping done in the room as long as we were in occupation so there was a reluctance to replace the lightbulbs although it was eventually done.
The staff were all very friendly and helpful and the food was good but the room would have been expensive at half the price we actually paid.

Whilst the food was lovely the service from the exceptionally rude and hostile greeter to the sullen staff serving food we were made to feel we were an inconvenience. We had booked in advance but The Grump made a drama of not finding the booking. We were eventually allowed through and shown a table.
If you don't have a smart phone with a scanner you won't be able to see the menu or order. Possibly a problem for the older clientele.
The drinks order was wrong and had to be rectified. The food when it came was delicious. We ordered coffee and desert and opted not to pay the descretionary charge as we felt that the service did not warrant reward. Needless to say it was taken anyway.
This was a special day out after a long time apart from my family due to the pandemic. Surely a business who has undoubtedly suffered great financial loss would be a little more pleased to welcome customers back. Having visited the pub since childhood (I am now in my sixties) I will be exceptionally reluctant to visit again.

Hotel (pub with rooms), shabby exterior with even shabbier interior. Bed & bathroom were clean but the rooms were so tired they were horizontal. Bed bases were ripped and stuffing coming out. Cheap loo seat (easy to replace once a season, especially for the rates charged) was yellowing. Maintenance required in the room to fix water ingress on the ceiling and shelf needed repairing. Please don't book "The Leopard" (room 1) as the so called "view" is a noisy pub garden with some harbour buildings and the tops of a few boats. There is an kitchen extractor RIGHT next to the bathroom window which if extremely noisy and on from 7.30 am to late at night. Also the noise of the cellar cooling equipment is on and off constantly during the night and is noisy when the front window is open. The view from the front window is of 3 large gas bottles and broken tiles. The main stairs is dingy and in need of redecoration. The housekeeping staff were good, as were the young people in the bar. The other members of staff were either flaky or forbidding.

I, like the rest of the tourists, hired a bike and went exploring. Stopped at this place for a drink and sat in the spacious and clean beer garden. There's an outside bar and kitchen and I thought the food and drink was really good and reasonably priced given the quality and location.
The shrimp kebabs were the best and the calamari a close second.
Would go again now if I was in the area.
Faultless, casual experience.

I enjoyed our overnight stay in this pub which had lovely walks nearby.
Our room was nicely furnished and spacious. The pub beneath was nice, as was breakfast in the pub.
The issue I have is that the prices charged are similar to hotels which have other facilities included e.g. access to gym, pool, reception etc. I therefore fee room prices are significantly overcharged making value for money very low.

after 4 hours of driving to the south coast for business i was met with a friendly team behind the bar who welcomed me and showed me to my room. The room was clean and tidy and very well decorated. The bed was comfy and had more extras than most of the expensive hotel chains. This was free water, nibbles, more towels than you know what to do woth and coffee machine. Breakfast was great. loads of choice and excellent hot breakfast. Loved staying there and will do again next time i need to.
