Kokkedal Castle Copenhagen is everything you would associate with a real castle – a fairytale exterior, a stylish interior, an amazing location set amidst a rolling landscape with forest, sea, beach and open meadows. Kokkedal Castle Copenhagen is an ideal spot for relaxation, dreams, and unique experiences. We are a castle hotel yet set ourselves a world apart from idle pomp and ceremony. There is, indeed, far more to our soul and welcome than stately elegance. Kokkedal Castle Copenhagen is about country life and laidback charm. It’s about enjoyment and pampering, intimacy and mindfulness and staff whose passion for the good things in life is truly inspiring and embracing. Kokkedal Castle Copenhagen offers a classic experience with a contemporary twist. It’s an easygoing destination of Nordic living, one that enjoys a uniquely magnificent setting.

If you have any business in the area or if you are a couple or group looking for romantic and royal surroundings, I can recommend this unique place. A castle like manor, antique interior and a very nice staff make the stay a pleasant experience. I stayed in the annex/guesthouse building, which have comfy rooms and from a "secret" passage way in the basement there is direct access to spa facilities and the main building where you will have a quality breakfast. I have not felt this exclusive or slept so well in a long time.

Stayed overnight at Kokkedal castle and booked a single deluxe room in a main building. Ample parking space and smooth check-in experience, however, upon entering my room, the key didn’t work so I need to run down and ask for a check to get it active again, and it did. The room was good enough for solo traveler. The lighting in the room giving a warm tone and I get a room with fantastic view over the golf course and a peek of the ocean. A good single size bed and comfortable linens. I had a goodnight sleep. Do bear in mind, as it’s a historical building that’s dated from 1700s, therefore their fixtures could make a little noise and watch your head for low sections wall in the room. The forest in the surrounding however, definitely worth a trail and it’ll leads you down to a nearby Rungsted harbor where you can find local restaurants, local beach and Karen Blixen museum. The breakfast room located in their cellar and the buffet is sufficient enough to give you some energy to start your morning. Overall, it was a good overnight stay and would like to try their spa facilities or perhaps their bigger room next time. If you have an appreciation of historical places, then this is one of a place worth a visit.

Children are not allowed on the restaurant for dinner even when staying at the hotel. Told the only option for families with children was to eat in the room. Then to make the experience even worse were told that they were not even sure there was any food available to serve in the room. All this while we mentioned the family was there to celebrate a family birthday. There was no information about children not being allowed in the booking confirmation. Rude responses, no apologies and simply stubborn attitude that this is how they do it. A simply horrible hotel and restaurant experience. Avoid this hotel and restaurant if you are traveling with children. We travel a lot and know there are plenty of other hotels and restaurants that allow children, including 5-star and Michelin starred ones.

Arrived 24th January and left 28th January. Hotel is set in a quiet and secluded location. The hotel has been sympathetically restored using reproduction furniture. Room has no telephone to reception and no tea/coffee making facilities. Only 2 bottles of water in the fridge. Bed comfy and room was cosy. The safe did not work and we reported it immediately. It was only rectified on our penultimate day. On returning late on day 2 we found the bed unmade, no fresh towels...in fact no maid service at all. Reception desk said they thought we were only stopping one night, so the room had been left. We'd booked for 4 nights, so no excuse. The best receptionist could offer was clean towels. Day 3 we returned to collect a gift for our son's graduation. Our key cards had been deactivated so we couldn't get in. Receptionist said it happens alot! If this is the case, why wouldn't you endeavour to find the cause? After sorting this out we were late to his graduation meal. Day 4 we had to ask for replenishment of toilet paper. I wrote down our grievances to the manager and on our last night we were left a bottle of Cava and 6 chocolates. I don't think we would have got this had I not put pen to paper. The staff really don't seem to care what the issue is, well after all the hotel has had our money so why would they? The American waiter at breakfast was their saving grace, he really went the extra mile to engage with us. They should perhaps promote him, as he was very professional. We had worked hard to save for this holiday and my husband who is very ill had not physically seen our son since 2020, so we were so looking forward to it. We have honestly had better service at Scandic Hotels. For a high end boutique hotel they really need to up their game. The locals told us service has declined since new ownership.

After having spent ten days and nights at fabulous hotels, castles, and restaurants in Sweden, it was a HUGE disappointment to come to Kokkedal Castle outside of Copenhagen. Upon our arrival, the two girls behind the reception hardly looked up at us, and did nothing to smile or make us feel welcomed. They gave us room keys with the wrong guest name on the booklet. When we, halfway to our room in a different building discovered this, and went back. They gave us a booklet with our name on it, but after walking back once agyto our room, the electronic keys did not work. A third trip back to the reception was needed in order to enter our room. One light bulb was not working in the tiny bathroom, making it almost impossible to shave. The insulation from the guest room to the outside corridor was non-existent. We could hear every single word of what other guests were saying, as they passed outside our room. The door handle to the terrasse outside was loose and there was no room to put our toiletries in the undersized bathroom. After dinner, we felt like ending the evening with a bottle of red on their verandah. The bar man closed the bar 15 minutes before closing time. We kindly declined buying wines from between 1000 and 3000 DKK, and settled for a Spanish wine for "only" 900 DKK. When checking the wine upon drinking it at ViVino, the app, we found out that its purchase price was 8,99 €, a mark-up of 100 times. Just outrageous. No, never again. Your staff does not seem motivated or even educated in receiving and caring for guess. Adding the high prices to the equation, this is a place that must be avoided. Too bad, on a beautiful castle in a beautiful setting, but there are limits to bad service and they have been not only met, but exceeded.

We so wanted this hotel to be a good experience for our anniversary. While the location is exquisite, surly front desk staff doing double duty as "concierge" left us without travel support, and so very disappointed. There are so many wonderful hotel and castle options in Denmark staffed by competent hospitality professionals, try to avoid Kokkedal Castle to keep your happiness level high.

This place is beautiful, but not exactly a "castle" like we think of. It's more like a large estate/manor/country club etc... Reception area is not so welcoming. We had to wait and find a receptionist. Then we had to carry our own luggage to our rooms in other surrounding buildings. The rooms are not IN the castle. The rooms are large and comfortable, but the bathroom is tiny. Nothing luxurious about the bathroom. Old world charm. Quiet, country, out of town type of charming. This place is 40 mins from central station Copenhagen. I must say the restaurant is fabulous. Attention to detail and all gourmet food. Wine list and cocktails are tailor made. The service at the restaurant was exceptional. Also, this is not really a spa destination. One spa attendant, and appointments are difficult to make. Overall, a good opportunity to see the Danish countryside. More like a "getaway" for the weekend.

This hotel is situated near the sea and golfclub. The views are stunning! Breakfast was included and was very very good! Due the corona crises only few room were occupied and the spa was closed. The room was a bit small and the queen size bed had two separate covers. The restaurant was good but not cheap. From the hotel it is a short walk down to the sea.

I have never been treated so poorly in my life. I will never go back to this place. I always try to see the positive side (if you check most of my reviews are positive), and if i do not get a nice esperience i rather not say anything then say something bad. But as I have been treated so poorly, they deserve my 1 star (could I give zero, I would). I got a gift card to have a spa experience in this place (mind you: spa is a small swimming pool and a sauna. There was a turkish bath, but it was not working and they were so nice not to tell me, because there are so many alternatives...). I go there and there is nobody at the reception so I help myself. When I get a message (one of the nice things, and the masseaure was sweet and professional), I finally am Given the slippers that were supposed to be included. But even though i was there alone and there was staff nobody would care to help. The dinner was nice and pleasent and so was the staff in the restaurant. Breakfast was average. But here comes the show: I go to the reception to check out with my gift card (which says that this and that were included. Value circa 3000 dkk) and I am asked to pay 2400 dkk more (so a total of 5400 dkk). I try to say to the receptionist that to my knowledge all was included, that I was willing to pay but if she could check. She said some days cost more than others. I replied it was perfectly ok, bit they could have told me that when i booked. She calls the manager that without even checking says that they just write examples of what could be included, but nothing is really included. That the voucher has a value and i pay for what I use. They make me pay the amount. I am there with tears in my eyes because over 5000 dkk for a night is more i can afford.had i known it i would have sold the card and go for less than 100 dkk ti valby vandkulturhus which has a better spa. Mind you i am not shown any simpathy. At all. Ready to go i inform the person who gave me this gift (saying i was thankful, but did not expect this). He asks me to talk to the receptionist and show her what is written in their website (thus showing i was right) and he shows her that if he booked the same deal for the very same night he would pay the amount on the voucher and not almost twice as much. At that point, all of a sudden, i am entitled to get my money back. All this lovely process took more than 1.5 hours. When i get the money back I am not even told "sorry for the inconvenience " or something similar. Actually, just to see their reaction I apologize for the "misunderstanding". I am not told that the mistake was not mine. In which hotel dont they know their rates? In which hotel do they make you feel like a thief and do not even check if what you say might actually be true? And then, when thruth is shown (after 3 attempts) they are not even sorry? Well in this one. Thank you for setting value and trust to you clients. And for showing how things are not done

We did a day trip by train from Copenhagen for a traditional Christmas lunch at Kokkedal Slot. It's a nice 20 minute walk from Kokkedal station and more a large manor house than "castle". The lunch was their 5 course traditional Christmas offering and was superb. Starting with pickled herring, then fresh salmon and fried fish before pork and duck, and finishing with possibly the best creamed rice pudding we've ever had. The food and service were excellent. After lunch we walked out to Nivå Bugt to look across to Sweden, and back through Mikkelsborg to Kokkedal.
