What can I say. I never usually review places I prefer to keep my opinions to myself as I don't believe anywhere is perfect. But I have to review this place In the hope that some of you don't make the same mistake. When I booked this "hotel" the pictures I saw made it look lovely. I will say those pictures are a complete lie. Because we arrived late at night we had to go to a hotel further up the road to collect our keys. The lady there was lovely. She showd us to the door of our hovel, sorry hotel and it was a solid metal door!! No signage it was grim and at 2am in the morning very scarey. The pictures included show the stairwell we had to clime to reach our room. The room was tiny, it literally only had 6 or 7 inches of room either side of the bed the toilet was just big enough to stand in but you could not turn round if the door was shut. The door was glass!! And made the most horrendous grinding noise when you opened and closed it. Virtually no facilities in the room. The corridor to the exit had a coffee machine but no one ever provided milk and the cups were ridiculously small. We never at any point met the supposed owner of the hovel, sorry hotel. When we left we had to go back up the road to leave our key. All in all it is a horrid place with no personality and I would never recommend it to anyone. Trust me you can find better.

I was with the girlfriend for 6 days and we booked the best (biggest) room with the private bathroom, wifi and AC. We absolutely love it! Every day maids were coming over to do their service and changing the sheets from our beds. Fresh Cookies in the lobby and a tea every morning was waiting for the guests. Hotel/guest house is located in the strict center of the city. It was super close to walk everywhere around without taking any public transportation except for the beach. We would take a train to the beach and it takes about 20-30 min of driving and it's really cheap (5€ return ticket). I would definitely mention that we are more than happy to say a few words for the stuff from the reception. They were very helpful and professional with their service towards us. They are working 24 hours and they would help you if you need any recommendations for what to visit or see, or advice you for whatever you need. We will definitely come back again!

Not a lot to say that is positive about this place besides the above. As others have noted, the entrance is up two flights of stairs. Fine - this happens in Europe. Unfortunately, the stairwell is in disrepair - dirty, cracked plaster, dingy. We got an email from the hotel the day before to check in at this location if we were arriving between 2 and 6 pm, otherwise to check in down the street at a second location. We arrived at 2:35 and there was no one there. So we called (there was a sign at the door), and they told us someone would arrive in 5 - 10 minutes. Some time later, one of the cleaners arrived. Nice woman, checked us in with her minimal English in a pretty efficient manner. Room itself was very clean. I’ll give it that. Our bathroom was split in two - a toilet on one side of the room in a closet so small you could hardly sit, and the sink and shower on the other side with no door, only a curtain. Walls and doors seemed very thin. We could hear noise throughout the building from our room. If you are here for a night and get a deal, I guess it could be OK. We paid the normal rate, and it felt really overpriced, even given the convenient location.

We stayed for 1 night in April and that was plenty. The entrance of the hotel is difficult to find, being a small dark doorway on a busy street. This doorway leads to 2 flights of stairs. On arrival (9pm), after climbing the stairs with our luggage (no elevator but that was expected) there was no one at reception. Thankfully, another guest was also waiting who spoke Portuguese and was able to contact the management. We were told to go back downstairs and visit another hotel a few doors down to check in. The room itself was clean, had a large private bathroom, WiFi access and air conditioning. We went to dinner and on our return found a homeless person making their bed for the night in the stairwell, making it hard to pass (he was still there at 11:30am the next morning when we left with our luggage). We expected some noise as we knew his was a bustling part of the city, but found it difficult to sleep due to the moving of hairs and tables in the early hours. The door did not seem to lock securely, although there was a sliding chain lock on the inside of the door. Light was coming in through the door frame. There was free coffee and cake available, which was a nice touch. I usually travel alone, but I don’t think I would have felt secure here.

The hotel is located in a very good place and near metro station “rossio “ and lots of historical place. , coffee, tea and cake were ready all the times in hotel entrance but the negative points :the hotel doesn’t have elevators ,lobby was very small( just 2 meters) the corridors were too narrow , rooms too noisy, the furnitures were too old , there was a lady working there instead of reception who couldn’t speak English even a word and if one has any question or help at evening have to go to the next hotel near flor da baixa there no refrigerator in the room . overall it was a guest house not hotel .

Excellent location in the middle of tourist area, shops, restaurants & a 5 minute walk from Bus & tram stops to tour the city. Our room was located at the rear of the building & was relatively quiet. Air con large bedroom & modern and well decorated large bathroom with free toiletries. No lift as old building, 40 stairs up to rooms, so travel light! Corridors are narrow too. Free coffee & cake in entrance hall. Surprizingly our rooms were serviced by a chambermaid, not expected for a pension. Contact information clearly displayed in entrance hall, as no reception.

I spent there four nights in September. The location is fantastic, very central. Breakfast wasn't included in the price but with plenty of restaurants and bakeries around it wasn't a problem at all. The room and the bathroom were simply spotless clean. Our room was cleaned daily. We got clean towels every day. There is no 24h reception in Flor da Baixa but the staff of Residencial Florescente located 10 seconds walk down the road was available 24h to answer our questions, keep our luggage the last day of our visit etc. Great value for money. Recommended.

I’m a little surprised this is a 2 Star based on other places I have stayed in. The room was great, the beds were fine, there was a TV and and aircon, the bathroom was big with two sinks. The service was great and very friendly. The hotel is situated near a bunch of (touristy) restaurants and a chemist. If you are on a budget this is a decent place to stay. For the price and considering it’s only 2 stars the experience was definitely 5 Star.

We stayed here for 4 nights and loved it .OK there were 3 flights of stairs but that was advised before we arrived so no problem. It was a small room but it was very clean and fresh towels and toiletries every day if we needed. As we were only sleeping here and out all day the size was fine.Nothing was to much bother for the owner we had to be at the airport for a 6.30 am departure and the owner organized a taxi to come and pick us up.which was on time and cost 12 Euros.we will certainly be recommended this hotel to friends .Thank you for a great stay .
