Oasis Hostel in Lisbon is a hostel in the real sense of the word. A hostel should be a hostel. We don't think that it should be a boutique hotel designed by Philippe Stark. A hostel should be cheap and in the best location of the city, within walking distance of everything worth seeing. A hostel should have staff that go out of their way for every traveller, not because we want better ratings but because it is what good people do. Besides having free wi-fi, lockers, and other standard services, a hostel should be clean, and most importantly a hostel should be cool but in the classic sense of the word like Mickey Rourke or Paul Newman, unique in personality that never goes out of style. A Hostel, more than a place to sleep should be a place that helps you feel what it's like to actually live in a city and not just stay in it. Our local and international staff are all Lisbon Lovers and use their wealth of information and personalities to show you their Lisbon with their eyes. We have activities, led by our staff that will let you truly come to know Lisbon and those who make it special. From local food tours, street art tours, all day adventures to experiences that guide books fear and tourists rarely see, our activities will leave you feeling Portuguese. Above all, a hostel should be social. In Oasis Lisbon Hostel with our bar, dinners and special events we go out of our way to make sure that we are the place to meet other interesting travelers to share your experiences with and if sometimes you wake up with a hangover as a token of our hospitality, all the better. Oasis Hostels are good for you!

Detailed Reviews
Coming to Lisboa for 3 days, I ended up staying a whole week in this Hostel. In fact, it looks more like a young professionnel flat than a hostel. The common area gives the impression to be an IKEA showroom, well decorated and welcoming, there are even fresh flowers on the tables and the mantelpiece. For less than 20 euros, you get a bed in a comfortable dorm, access to a laptop size safe, a breakfast, free internet, great common room, etc. It is very secure since there is only keycard access to the hostel and your room. The staff is awesome! From the receptionnist to the ladies who cook dinner every night (for only 5 EUROS!!!). There is even a Portugese teacher that gives free lessons every Friday. A small bar in the backyard add to a very nice atmosphere It is a nice place to meet people but it is still quiet at night. From far the best hostel (and the cleaniest) I've stayed in over the years, all countries taken into account.

This was exactly what we needed in Lisbon! It was a quiet enough but not too quiet friendly hostel where the reception learned our names at check in and used them throughout our stay (as did the bartender, Paco, who makes a mean Caipirihna). The location is good...close to one of the better tram lines in the city and the 5-euro dinners can't be beat (nor can the breakfast waffles which are included in the stay).
The place was clean, the computers actually worked, and the living room was just that! I would literally go back to Portugal just to stay in this hostel!

Oasis is located in one of the best spots in Lisbon. The building is amazing, an old portuguese mansion, and the set up is great, with a cool bar and a great outdoor area that's always open! The staff is fantastic, a big Thank you to Vinnie for making me feel at home.

I stayed in Oasis for four nights only, but really wished I could've stayed longer. The staff is super friendly and will always help you out. The food was AMAZING, no need to actually go anywhere else to eat. Definitely take the free tour they offer and hope Avi is your guide. One of the best tours I've had, immediately make me fall in love with the city :) I stayed in the 6-bed dorm which was fine. Shower was decent for a hostel and the wifi worked pretty good everywhere. Don't forget to try one of Miguel's cocktails!

It's a really nice place. The rooms are classics but the patio where you can meet other travellers is really great, it feels like home.
The cook was amazing, I'll never forget the best mushroom soup I've ever had.
You have 2 good spot for the sunset nearby : The bar on the sixth floor of a parking (2 min walking) And a place (60 meters) where you can buy a beer, sit and enjoy the view

I really loved staying at oasis in Lisbon. I was in a 4 person room with a private bathroom. Unfortunately the air conditioning wasn't working while I was there, so that was an issue for me, but the staff were all very enthusiastic and nice. The dinner at the hostel cost only 7.50 euros, and it was absolutely delicious. You could also get a choice of three different breakfasts for only 3 euros, which were just as high quality. The hostel is located in a great neighbourhood near a lot of fun little pubs. The hostel staff take you out every night to different bars and while I was there, a lot of people from the hostel came out as well, making it much more fun. There is a free walking tour offered at the hostel as well, which I would suggest going on. Overall, great experience in Lisbon!

oasis back packers mansion in lisbon is a bit strange i wasnt told that my room was going to be away from the main house and i mean a long walk up a hill so in the mornings you have to make the desision wether to get fully dressed and showered just to get a cup of coffee,up and down a hill to the main house not good,i had an arguement with a member of staff because she cooked some thing i couldnt eat and she demanded the money which i gave her and then threw it back at me,i deciced to leave although i was booked in for a week i left after a day and a half, anyway its not a well run place half the staff are lazy,we didnt get any notice about the building work going on at the hostel, they walk you up a steep hill and thats it you are left to your own devises and i had to beg the girl on reception to charge my phone, all she could say was its not her fault if it goes missing, and i think even she would agree there was zero security knew i had made a bad choice as soon as i set foot in the place ,and, its such a shame that we have to rely on good reviews when we are looking for accomodation on the internet, well you live and learn,i do not recommend this place at all, keith griffiths

I have stayed 4 times in this hostel in the past 5 years and every time has been great fun. The staff
Is helpful, friendly and international and cleanliness and organisation of the hostel are impeccable. The location is also great since the hostel is only a few minutes walking from Bairro Alto and the centre. Every week the hostel organised events such as pub crawls, bbqs, outings and trips and because of this I have always felt like home at Oasis hostel. I would highly recommend this place to solo travellers, groups of friends but also couple who would like to get closer to the portuguese culture, meet people and have some cheap drinks in one of the best miradouros of Lisbon.

I arrived in Lisbon to start my month cycle tour of Portugal and obviously my biggest concern was somewhere accepting of my bike and all my kit. Oasis were superb and very understanding, providing a secure garage.
I really enjoyed staying, the amenities superb but most importantly the staff were extremely friendly and social! This was reflected in the other guests as everyone opened up easily.
If you decide to stay a few days like me, ensure that you take the walking tour with Quimm as you’ll get to see parts of Lisbon with a local twist—very entertaining and personal, highly recommended!
I’d stay with Oasis again for sure—miss you guys already.

I recently added the Oasis Lisboa to the list of Oasis hostels I have brought my groups of students (previously reviewed Oasis Malaga, Oasis Seville, Oasis Granada).
The Oasis Lisboa is just another jewel in a fine crown. The Oasis hostels have managed to give their properties a certain vibe as you walk in, and this one is no different. Checking in with Nadia was quick and efficient. We were 39 in all, 36 of them college level students (18-20). The hostel offers clean rooms in two buildings (the main building and a second building mere steps from the front door) with great use of facilities. We were able to use the kitchen to cook dinner and there was room to spread the group pretty much everywhere to eat: main common area and outside on their terrace.
As far as hostels go we have always been very satisfied with the service and the quality of the Oasis properties. Booking a group? Contact Luisa, she has gone far above and beyond to ensure that everything is perfect for our stays in all of their hostels.
