Colina Flora is a very clean, quiet, well-run, friendly, environmentally aware, quality establishment. James and Aasta can't do enough to make your stay unforgettably enjoyable as well as making the local area and people easily accessible. Beach, walking, woods, historic monuments, local restaurants, markets and more at the doorstep. Unbeatable, delicious breakfast. Absolutely great and 100% recommended!

We spent 5 nights at Colina Flora, a really beautiful haven, surrounded by lovely gardens and with views to both the sea and the wooded hills behind. James and Aasta have thought of everything - the rooms are extremely comfortable, breakfasts are delicious and we felt instantly relaxed and at home. We had no car, but were able to use a nearby bus service so it was easy to get to Sintra and the coast. James provided maps and walking information, as well as a helpful 'taxi' service to the airport at the end of our stay. We would definitely go back.

We stayed here for 2 nights as part of a self guided walking trip in the Sintra mountains. We felt immediately at home as soon as we met James and Aasta. They were extremely helpful and no request seemed like too much for them. James knows everything about the area and can help you with maps and recommendations. As other reviewers have mentioned, Aasta makes the most delicious and plentiful breakfast, including great granola! We had one of the individual bungalows that was extremely comfortable and situated in the garden. It wasn't warm enough for swimming but the pool looks great. There are many lovely spots to sit in the garden and read. I am only sorry we had to leave after two days.

After a busy 4 days in Lisbon, we spent a relaxing 11 days at Colina Flora. We did lots of walking locally using maps and advice provided by our hosts and used the local bus service to visit Cascais and Sintra. We did not hire and did not need a car. We dined locally or catered for ourselves in the well-equipped outside cooking area, buying from the farmers' market or village shops. The scenery was lovely and there was a relaxing atmosphere at the hotel. Our spacious room had a shady verandah and there were plenty of spots in the gardens to sit in the sun or shade. Our hosts could not have been more welcoming or helpful. We looked forward to our healthy vegetarian breakfast each morning, finishing with a different tray bake to sample each time. And we found the advice about

We spent two nights here on a self-guided walking tour and found it a lovely choice by our tour company. We had a new unit, a small standalone building away from the main house, which gave us a very large room and a nice garden stroll through the garden to breakfast. In warmer weather, the pool would be very inviting. The breakfast was excellent -- great variety, imaginative and tasty. James and Aasta are wonderful hosts. On Friday nights, a nearby restaurant, the Adega, has fado singers and James has a standing reservation for his guests. It was a wonderful evening. We let our host choose the tapas (it was perhaps the best meal we had In Portugal) and the singing was terrific.

We stayed at Quinta Colina Flora as part of a trip where we combined the area around the hotel and Sintra with a few days in Lisbon which it is located perfectly for. This place is unbelievably beautiful, you'll have to see it to believe it, the rooms are lovely, the views are fantastic and the grounds are so pretty, so many beautiful seating areas (which we didn't use as one of our rooms had an idyllic seating area outside with a log fire perfect for a late night bottle of wine. The area around the hotel is stunning with a range of routes for walkers of all types. However the main reason to stay here for us were out hosts. Aasta's breakfast and decoration of the place was lovely. James was about as helpful and and decent a host as anybody can be. He was so keen to make our

My husband and I stayed at the Colina Flora for two nights in February. We visited it as part of a self guided walking tour. It was the highlight of our trip. The inn itself is lovely, comfortable and relaxing to spend time in. Our room was spacious, well appointed and very comfy. It was still pretty chilly there so we enjoyed the indoor space which included a warm living room with a wood burning stove. The outdoor areas, including the garden and pool were very attractive and seemed like it would be nice during the warmer months. Aasta makes a fabulous breakfast, everything homemade, including very tasty baked goods and excellent granola (I asked for the recipe). What really made this a very special stay for us was how incredibly knowledgable James was about the area. Even

We stayed for 6 nights and Colina Flora was a beautiful quiet place to stay. Delicious and varied breakfasts with different fruits and delicious cakes every morning,as well as much else. James and Aasta made us feel very much at home, and James gave us lots of precise and helpful advice about walks and buses. We tended to do our own thing mostly but James booked us and some other guests at a local Fado evening, and he is great at offeirng to make bookings, collect you from the village etc. A lovely place to be, and we walked to an old monastery, the Altantic coast, and to Monserrate Palace, as well as visiting Cascais and Sintra by bus. We could easily have done a day trip to Lisbon but didn't want to be in a city.
