My wife and I just had almost two weeks in Leuven, staying at the Gasthof De Pastorij, our favourite. Carmen is the most gracious host and owner. Our room was spacious. The breakfast caters to hearty and lean eaters. It is a few steps away from Leuven’s central attractions. Small enough to be really homely yet with all the conveniences. Carmen would go out of her way to be helpful, but she couldn’t stop the rainy weather. Ha, ha… But Belgium needed the rains after a long dry summer.

This is a very cozy hotel right in the center of Leuven. It's not on a main street, so it's really very quiet and one can rest really well at night. The owner of the hotel, Carmen, takes excellent care of the guests, giving a warm welcome as well as many sightseeing tips in the city. She runs the reception, prepares the breakfast, takes care of cleaning, etc, which gives the hotel a very familiar atmosphere. I think one of the highlights of the hotel is the garden! On a nice day one could have breakfast there, or just spend the morning reading a book. An interesting fact is that this used to be the house of the Priest of the Church in front of it (Sint-Michielskerk), and the decoration of the hotel reflects this. (For example, the rooms in the hotel don't have numbers, but are instead named after angels.) I've stayed here more than once and all my stays have been wonderful. I often visit Leuven for work, and next time I do I will no doubt stay here again.

I chose this guesthouse because I wanted somewhere central, but quiet. After reading numerous reviews it seemed that a lot of the reasonably priced places in central Leuven were noisy. It was a good choice. The guesthouse is very centrally located but lovely and quiet. The rooms are a little dated, but clean and comfortable. Carmen ( who I presume is the owner) is super friendly and is able to give you lots of welcome advice to make the most of your stay in Leuven. The breakfast is decent and the place has a cute little garden out the back where you can enjoy a coffee or a drink from the honesty bar. I will return.

Leuven is a student city, maybe that is why the hotel landscape is not very developed. I choose this place because of the great reviews. The hotel is more a bed and breakfast than an actual hotel. The lady running the place is of great kindness, giving you recommendations on the town. The room was in good shape, great bed - the most important for me. Internet did work well. Other reviewers rave about the breakfast: it is OK but nothing really spectacular. Maybe better than other breakfasts in Belgium, I have no experience about that.

We liked this guest house, a lot. It is in the historic centre and close to many tourist sites. When on holiday we prefer to stay in locally owned hotels rather than the big chains, and this hotel reinforced our decision. On arrival we greeted by Carmen, the owner, a lovely and charming woman. She carried our bags to our room on the second floor, despite our protestations to try and help her. My partner stayed in our room, but I had a cigarette with her in her charming garden. I felt I was talking to an old friend whom I had not met for many years. My husband also thought she was very charming, and liked her very much. We stayed in the Isiah Room on the second floor. Both the room and bathroom were large, but watch your head on some of the beams. The bed was king sized with pleasant good linen. We felt the design of the room was fun, and it was very clean. Wi-Fi was fast, and the TV had many channels in different languages. When we stayed, Leuven was experiencing high temperatures, our room was hot but a fan is provided which helped. One tip, when in the bathroom, draw the window curtains. My partner enjoyed his breakfast, with plenty of local ingredients to choose from. On leaving we were given a hug by Carmen. If we are ever in Leuven we will come back, I suggest you need to forget the chain hotels and come here.

My husband and I stayed in one of the guest rooms on the top floor. We were pleasantly surprised, the room was even nicer than the pictures online. It was very large, yet cozy, and it had a very huge updated bathroom. Watch your head though! Some of the ceiling beams in the bathroom are hard to maneuver around. The location was amazing. It was right in the heart of the city, and a close walk to everything. The breakfast was good with a lot of different options. The only negative that I can think of, was that there was limited parking. All the parking spaces were taken by other guests when we arrived, so we had to park about 500 meters away for around 17 Euro for a night. Also, there wasn't a fridge in the room either, not a big deal, but just a convenient thing to have to keep drinks in.

This is a wonderful hotel- clean and quiet. Carmen, the owner of the place, is such a lovely person which give you to feel comfortable like at home. The location of the hotel is the best you can ask for in Leuven. In my next visit to the city I am sure to be be back to the same hotel.

We had some friends staying in Belgium for a couple of days and De Pastorij was a great place from where we could start our visits to various places in the country. Our guests were made to feel very welcome by the very friendly owner, Carmen. This house used to belong to the parish priest and although the house has kept its previous feel, it's been transformed in a very pleasant and cosy place with seven rooms for the guests.

We returned to this hotel for a second visit, this time to stay the weekend to celebrate our daughter's 21st birthday. Carmen welcomed us like old friends. We had one of the suites. It was a lovely eclectic mix of old and modern decor. Everything we could have wished for was present in the room including a small fridge. Our daughter and friend joined us for a delicious and plentiful breakfast each day, after prior arrangement with Carmen, and they loved the place too. The location is quiet but still very close to the city centre.
