Posthotel Rossli - the most traditional and oldest Hotel in the middle of town! This building was built approximately in 1823 and bought by Bendicht Steffen in 1844. It first opened in 1845 as a guesthouse. Back then it also was used as as a post office. By the way, the Rossli-Hotel is the oldest hotel in town. Since 1922, our family owns the establishment, and today we are proud to be the fourth generation, managing the Posthotel Rossli.

I have stayed at the Rössli, as well as quite a number of other hotels in Gstaad over the decades and I must say the Rössli is one of my very favorites. Their bedrooms and furnishings are really appealing - all warm wood, done in the traditional way, simple and beautiful. There is no clutter but only very comfortable, clean and warm. The Stube with local people is genuine which is rather hard to find these days. Well, now I have my own chalet so I do not stay in the Rössli any more - but receiving their email about their updates made me want to write about them! I am very happy to see from the pictures that the bedrooms maintain their warm ambiance!

Walking into the Roessli, we immediately felt at home. We were drawn to this historic, and what is actually the oldest hotel in Gstaad, due to the recommendation of a local friend, and we felt at home right away. From the historic photos to the tasteful upgrades to the rooms to the yummy breakfasts. The owner, Conroy and the incredible staff, are friendly and super helpful with suggestions and sharing tips for the many local excursions. We WILL be back.

We stayed here for a long weekend in Gstaad and loved the hotel. There's lots of glitz and glamour to be had in Gstaad (and you should) but the Rössli offers something unique. It's an old inn, family run, with a bar/restaurant frequented by locals. Our (superior) room (224) was very spacious - one of the largest we've had when staying in the Alps - warmly decorated with a balcony looking to the East. The bathroom was a little more basic though perfectly comfortable and with a dual sink. We enjoyed a Friday night dinner in the Stube which was delicious and with super service. Both supper and the hotel were very good value both relative to Gstaad and in a general sense.

This hotel is so charming and the landlord and her team are so nice and professional. The decor and attention to details as service are to be highlighted. The restaurant is typical and genuine. The respect of sanitary measure very well done as well. A must stay and congratulations to the team!

This is a typical Swiss family hotel where the rooms aren’t glamorous but perfectly functional, comfortable and clean. The staff are friendly. Location is great at the end of the promenade not far from the Bahnhof Breakfast was a mobile buffet (covid times) with a good choice and filling. Didn’t have dinner there but it looked like a nicer atmosphere than the few other options around.

We have been coming to the Roessli over many years, whenever we our with our friends in Lauenen. We loved it ! It was so quaint and the food was excellent. This year we were very much disappointed. The quality of the food was not as it used to bee.g. the minced liver was too thinly sliced and hence not pink inside and the roesti was as it had been fried in oil in the frying pan. It should be crisp outside and mellow inside. The service was awful. At the beginning the staff had an issue behind the buffeted and we had to wait quite a while sitting there. Then, the assigned waitress was never around and we had to fetch a waiter who eventually helped. The Roessli has an interesting list of Swiss wines and we hope the new generation can revive the old quality of the "Stübli".

We drove across Switzerland to Gstaad (mainly to honor 1983's "Trading Places" with Murphy and Aykroyd) and the trip was amazing- topped off with our stay at Posthotel Rossli. Our family of 5 loved the top floor room, which had plenty of space. The kids especially loved the loft area. The price was a great value and you can't beat the location (or the parking spaces). Don't miss out on the Gstaad Card, which was recommended at the front desk and made the entire trip a great value. We took maximum advantage with multiple trips up and down local lifts and lots of public transport. Finally, the restaurant was pleasant after a long day- everyone found something to enjoy from the menu.

My husband and I recently spent a month long vacation in Switzerland. Posthotel Rössli was recommended by my family who stayed there previously. We stayed two nights in a Superior Double Room (#224). This room was sumptuous with high count linens, fluffy towels, large bathroom, separate toilet room, and two balcony doors. There was also a nice sitting area with two chairs, as well as a desk. The best part was all the paneling which was SO Swiss and cozy. Nadja and Conroy Widmer are continuing as great caretakers of this beautiful hotel, just as previous generations before them. Nadja - thanks for the hiking suggestion via Wispile. Conroy - was also great to meet you and talk about my parent’s visit in 1999 and that little escapade! ;0) The breakfast was delicious and the cappuccinos were flowing! We also had cheese fondue one evening and do not miss the plum pie! We will definitely return!
