Welcome to the Grand Hotel Rimini, welcome to charm! The Grand Hotel Rimini, the five star deluxe hotel which has always been considered as the symbol of "La Dolce Vita" on the Adriatic Riviera, is a magnificent building with more than a 100 years history. Inaugurated in 1908, a national monument since 1984, the Grand Hotel Rimini has always welcome a large number of celebrities: the tenor Caruso, the Duce Mussolini, Gorbatchev, Bush Senior, Federico Fellini and his wife Giulietta Masina, Lady Diana, Christian Barnard, Tony Blair, Sharon Stone, Albert of Monaco, Edward of Windsor and the Dalai Lama, just to mention a few. With the taking over of the Batani family in 2007, major renovation works have been immediately started following the criteria imposed by the Italian Ministery of Fine Arts and today the Grand Hotel Rimini is back to its ancient splendour, especially the mythical Liberty facade. New, precious materials such as travertine, onyx and white marbles from northern Italy beautifully combine with the renovated original parquet flooring and Venetian flooring in the ancient ballrooms, in a beautiful harmony between old and new, history and present time. The ambitious project will be completed with the setting of the famous domes that went destroyed during the terrible fire that broke out in July 1920.The Grand Hotel Rimini is defined by its guests as a "magnificent oasis of tranquility." It is surrounded by a luxuriant garden of centennial pine trees, olive trees and flowers and stands just a few steps away from the private beach of golden sand, with a kids’ swimming-pool, restaurant-bar and a wellness centre, open in summer time.At just one kilometre from the hotel, the historical centre of Rimini is the heart of luxury shopping and night life. Culture and the arts are also very well represented thanks to major international art exhibitions organized every year inside Castelsismondo, the several castles dating back to the Malatesta seigniory (1500) and extraordinary Roman remains.High oeno-gastronomy is the specialty of the house. The hotel’s ancient ball rooms are the beautiful setting to "La Dolce Vita" restaurant where the Chef Claudio Di Bernardo and his brigade are proud to welcome you. Simple, natural and wholesome qualify the chef’s strong passion for good cuisine. In summertime, dinner is served on the magnificent terrace overlooking the sea and the gardens. The atmosphere is unique: the gentle sea breeze, the excellent cuisine, the elegant orchestra playing romantic music on the backdrop of the famous Liberty facade... Just like one of the famous scenes from Amarcord by the great film-maker Federico Fellini!

I spent a week at the end of June - beginning of July in this hotel.
This is a historic place. Lounges are dedicated to Fellini and his movie Amarcord.
The building is beautiful, common areas are glamorous.
I had a very spacious double room with balcony which was recently renovated. Beautiful interior design. Very high ceilings, some pieces of antique furniture, marble bathroom. At the same time, room had the most modern equipment (smart house) to operate the lights, air conditioning etc. Rooms are very clean. Beauty products are of very high quality.
Hotel has a very large private beach which you have to pay separately. I could only recommend to hotel management to add some extra service for quite high price of beach bed: it would be nice if every time you come to the beach, some member of staff would accompany you to your place and help with bath towel. You could have added a free bottle of water and a welcome fruit plate... It would be nice touches highly appreciated by your guests. It was the only time, when i was on the beach (for 7 days), that I did not feel that value/money was correct. When I booked it in advance and saw the price, I expected an amazing service and got quite indifferent one instead, one towel per person, extra towel is charged separately... never had such restrictions in 5 star hotels.
Hotel has an amazing restaurant. I had a chance to dinner there every night: service and food of Michelin star restaurant. Everything was impeccable.
I would have highly recommend this hotel to people who appreciate la Dolce Vita. A unique experience.

My husband and I stayed in the Grand for the first week in August. The hotel is beautiful, its elegant, historic and lives up to its "grand" name. When we arrived we discovered that we were being placed in a subsidiary building next to the hotel which had rooms but nothing else. We were a little disappointed but we were prepared to give it a go. We were left to find the building ourselves, were given our room key at the desk and had to make our own way to the room. It was 3 star at best with dirty towels left in the room and bathroom and the previous occupant's clothes still in the closet even though the room had a welcome card with our name on it! We went back to the main reception and asked to speak to the manager. She was rather non plussed and implied that we had booked the off site building of our own choice. This was clearly a nonsense but in fairness we were offered a suite for the first few days of our stay at no extra cost with the understanding that we would have to move as the room was already reserved. This was fair enough. The suite was lovely, our second room with a seaview also on the 4th floor was fine; clean, traditionally furnished. There was some noise from the beach front bars but with windows and shutters closed and the air con on, the volume was pretty subdued and didn't stop us sleeping.

The pool is fine, small with very comfortable beds nearest to the actual pool side with ordinary loungers behind which were difficult to adjust to any other back height except reclining which was uncomfortable for reading. The gardens are lovely, the private beach is super also with a secure box to keep your valuables in which is handy. The breakfasts were fine- but no more than I would expect for a 5 star, the evening meals were fine also but menu rather limited, the 3 day per week buffet on the terrace was excellent though. The real downside of this hotel is the service. It is slow everywhere- non existent at the poolside, whilst at the beach we were given a number to call for beach service but the reception was so poor it was not fit for purpose. Ordering an aperitif before our meal took 3 reminders and half an hour before we were served, even an extra pillow at night was a half an hour wait. The housekeeping was excellent and the hotel is clean but the staff are rather distant- especially at reception. Such a shame because this could have been a wonderful stay if only the service had have been what I have received in other hotels in Italy and throughout Europe. Even a friendly good morning or good evening from reception when you leave or enter the hotel or come down for breakfast would be lovely. I'm glad I stayed but the aloofness of staff and general poor service would stop me from returning..

Having just returned from Rimini, getting out of this wretched country to a place of sanity, and enjoyment, a few words shoud be noted about the hotel. It is a step back in time, glimpsing a golden era, when grandeur was the norm, where elegance is what is expected. The evening meals on the terrace with a band, dancing, elegant clothes were a delight. The room was very good, save for extremely average air conditioning, although the need to put the room key in a slot to put on the power in the room smacks of cheap nasty hostels, rather than this palace hotel. We enjoyed every day of our stay

I came for a rest and asked for a sea view room which I was told would be extra. So I thought it may be nice to have. Wrong there is thumping music from 9pm to 1.45am and it vibrates through the room. When I complained the guy on reception wasn’t the slightest bit interested. He just said those rooms can be noisy - I am not understanding why I would want to pay extra to be kept awake all night and be so tired more of a torture.
The food is average.
The decor tired.
The service comes with attitude.
The restaurant has a buffet Thursday nights and it’s on on site thumping music just what you want whilst eating dinner so no conversation.

So if you are looking for a nice relaxing place to chill this is not it. If you are looking for the Butlin’s of Blackpool then yes this is your place.

We booked this stay as part of our honeymoon. On arrival the staff was very friendly and our tour operator had booked us an executive room since the classic rooms were a bit more old fashioned.
This is a very big hotel so for the three nights we were there, there were also events.

Everything seemed to be going well until the last morning. We went down to go to breakfast (for the first time since we are not usually in the mood for breakfast) , only to be told that breakfast was closed for normal hotel guests. In my opinion, if you know that you also have other guests staying, it's not that hard to reserve a spot for them at breakfast as well. And it's not like there was not enough space to do it.

Instead of a normal apology, we were told by the staff that they "were sorry no one told us", and that if we wanted breakfast, we would have to order roomservice.

Our room was nice, but only had a tiny table and two small chairs so this did not seem like an option for us.

The elitist attitude towards event guests ruined this stay for us. This is not a cheap hotel so we expected to be treated better. For the money you pay here (especially for an executive room), you will be better off in a hotel where they are more friendly towards us "common folk".

We will certainly come back to Rimini, but we will not be staying in this snooty hotel anymore.

The hotel is cheap, tired, and low quality. I am offended they call is 5 star. What a load of baloney.
You arrive and there is the huge I mean truck size air conditioner in the front entrance, the rooms are dated with cheap neo antique furniture. But not even a bottle of water on arrival, for US$600. They should visit some of the true 5 star hotels to get an idea of how it should be.
The bedding was middle quality, the bath towels also, cheap common soap.
The beach in Rimini is grey looking, the water less inviting, but this is not the hotels fault. Of course if you want to sit in a chair on the beach it is another $60. Your better off staying in a small 3 or 4 star place than this star-less joint.

my friend's parents were at the Grand Hotel in Rimini. One evening we were treated to dinner there.

It was magnificent and I always had fond memories of it being like a palace.

My wife and I had the opportunity to go there for a week at the end of June. I have always believed going back is a mistake and unfortunately in this case I was proven right.

The hotel is now a 5 star luxury hotel but sadly the building is old and showing distinct signs of wear. The service in the hotel and the facilities were very average, the so called, spa and gym is a joke and the use of the gardens and outside terrace in the summer evenings is severely restricted due to the regular functions held there.

There were small but annoying mistakes, like cups being removed and not replaced, and requests to reception fell most times on deaf ears. An email advising of our delayed arrival was not opened for reasons we were not told so that the booked taxi did not meet us at the station after a very long and tiring train journey.

The restaurant was, however excellent, with good food and service in a beautiful dining room. The menu was a little bit limited and we did not, unfortunately, find out until too late that we could have asked for food off menu.

The private beach is beautiful with an expensive buffet restaurant for lunch although the general service on the beach was almost non existent.

We left 3 days early partly because we were unhappy but we also found out after we arrived that there was a concert next door on our last 3 nights with massive speakers outside our balcony and bedroom windows. Great for the teenagers but not so good if you wanted to hear yourselves talking at dinner or on the terrace afterwards.

What to say? Perfetto! The Grand Hotel in Rimini was on my to do list since several years but never had the opportunity to come. Rimini in winter is very quiet but you can appreciate the walks on the beach, the old town, the nearby villages and of course the excellent cuisine!
The hotel is the best in town and it is one of those special places that combine history, old world elegance, comfort. We were greeted by Giampaolo and Lubi (hope it’s written like that), escorted to our beautiful room (guess we were upgraded) in a friendly and professional way…a good start. The room was beautiful, elegantly appointed with original antiques; the bathroom very spacious with a jacuzzi bathtub (a bit difficult to use). It was night but the following morning we could enjoy the nice view on the Fellini Park and the sea from our big terrace and a second romantic balcony. Breakfast was a delight, perhaps one of the best we have ever seen, with lot of choice of extreme quality; service again was friendly but very professional (special mention for Dalida, a true maîtresse de maison, and Cristina).
We had dinner once in the restaurant and it was very pleasant. Food was elegant and the desserts excellent!
The gardens were immaculate as well as the housekeeping of the whole property. Cleaning levels at the highest standards.
I work in a hotel and I am a very difficult guest lol. When we travel, I like to choose the hotels…it doesn’t matter the category, I like hotels that are “kept” with attention to the little things. Here everything was perfect!
Last but not least: in winter rates are very affordable. So, if you want to feel like the previous illustrious guests, do not hesitate!

The hotel looks like 5 star outside, but inside it's old, damaged and non well-maintened. Bad smell in rooms, old (not antique, but simply old) furniture with dangerous parts which fell down, and are dangerous for kids, so our little son pinched his finger and scratched his leg.
No coffee machine in a room, no kettle (you need to ask every time so they bring you "kettle set". No drinkable water in rooms.
No hooks in bathrooms, so they put new fresh towels in a bidet.

Hotel has a small SPA, but it's extra 170 euro per 2 hour!!!
Kids room has an IKEA table and a set of damages toys.
The facade of hotel is great, yes. That's all they have as a 5 star hotel.

Breakfasts with the permanent set of dishes, no varietes, nothing special, like in any 3 star hotel.
Door of rooms are thin and old, so you can hear everything in the hall and corridore during the night, and not only hear, but see the light which goes below the bottom of the door.

The hotel belongs to a "group of hotels" of 2 hotels, which is managed by an unknown family company since 2007. My fault that I discovered this fact too late.

P.S. It's not a beachfront hotel, to go to beach you need to cross 2 small streets.
P.P.S. Funny thing: the main entrace to the copurtyars infront of hotel is always closed, so all people enter hotel through a gate for cars or gate for staff. The craziest thing. They have a super facade, but an ugly hotel.

Everything about this hotel is wonderful as the Grand has real charm - it is like stepping into a film set and it's easy to see why Fellini fell in love with the Grand and all it has to offer.

It is indeed very grand, timeless and has a magical charm that graces every room you wander through.
The hotel is classically decorated throughout and is spacious and well, just beautiful.
The grounds are beautiful day and night, with lovely patio areas for sitting.

The pool looked amazing but was closed when I was there and they have a private beach. It all felt like a F Scott Fitzgerald novel.

My room was exceptional: Spacious, two balconies, walk in dressing room, bathroom sea views and fabulous windows bathed in sunlight through the wonderful charming lace curtains. I also loved the fresh oranges in the room.

I was not able to use the spa, as I stayed one night only and it was booked up. That said, it looked great and had a good selection of treatments.

Reception was very helpful and efficient and as I was early and my room was not quite ready, I had a drink in the charming bar and they arranged my luggage for me to the room.

Breakfast was excellent: Great choice of hot and cold food , selection of juices and a wonderful dining space.

A big thankyou to Giampaolo for arranging a fantastic room for me and also to Sandro.

I would return to this hotel in a heart beat.
