My husband and I spent 9 nights the first week in July 2023 in La Lumiere di Piazza di Spagna. We look for small boutique hotels when we travel and this one was wonderful. The room was totally adequate in size with a big closet, a desk, really great shower and everything we could need. It had air conditioning that you control yourself. Very clean. Breakfast every morning was just the right variety and amount of food to get us through most of the day. And very convenient. The hotel has a tiny elevator that might be an issue for some but it was not a problem for us at all. The hotel staff was extremely friendly, helpful and cordial. I had asked for a restaurant reservation be made before we left home since there was no online reservation option at that particular restaurant. Natalia made the reservation for us and we were all set when we arrived. On my birthday that week the hotel presented me with a bottle of champagne which was so nice of them. The location was even better than we thought it would be. A couple of blocks from the Spanish Steps, one minute walk to any number of restaurants and shops and a 10 - 30 minute walk from most of the main historic sites. The hotel was central enough that after walking all day we could go back and have a rest and then stroll to Trastevere for dinner and a walk along the Tiber River or whatever else we wanted to do. It is convenient to the Metro and taxis and banks. The only issue we had was when we wanted to have a taxi called at 7:00 am to go to the airport there wasn't going to be a concierge on duty before 7:00 to do that. We were unclear if we could be assured of a taxi so early on a Sunday morning at a taxi stand. We went online and eventually found a reliable taxi company and the concierge called the day before we left to arrange for a cab to the airport. So now the hotel has the name and number of Pronto taxi which was really good. We highly recommend this hotel. We had a great stay and a great vacation.

This hotel should be avoided at all costs. I had made a booking in March for a stay in July and my booking was confirmed then. 3 days before my arrival date, I received an email that my reservation was cancelled as my credit card was being declined. This is the same credit card that I have used for booking at many hotels during our trip to Italy with not a single problem at any of the hotels. I tried to call the hotel many times but no one picked up the phone. When I finally reached the front desk, they said they were not with the reservation department and asked to send an email with my credit card details. I sent that promptly and it was still rejected. I called the credit card company and they assured me that that there was never any request for authorization from the hotel. So that makes me believe that they chose to simply cancel my reservation and perhaps offer it to someone else at a higher price. Needless to stay, this caused a lot of stress on our vacation and we were thankfully able to find an alternate hotel for our stay on 3 days notice. I am writing this comment to warn others of the unethical practice of this hotel.

Great boutique hotel in a fantastic location near the Spanish Steps. Everyone at the hotel friendly and helpful especially Dominico at the front desk who went out of his way when I lost my cell phone. Super central location in Rome surrounded by fabulous cafes and tons of shopping.

Hotel internet was not working the entire visit. They told us to just use the retailer Tod's internet, be aware Tod's turn off their internet when they close. They do not have 24 hour front desk as was advertised and no one answers the phone when they are not at the hotel. Breakfast was not good. The shower in our room did not work the first night we were there, they moved us to another room the next afternoon after the occupants had checked out. Hotel is in a bit of a time warp. I Would not recommend and certainly would never return.

We stayed in this hotel last weekend, and we loved it! We travel a lot, and we prefer hotels that have some charm, character and soul--exceptionally modern hotels leave us cold. We've also been to Rome many, many times, and we've never found a hotel that ticks all of our boxes--until now! La Lumiere couldn't be in a better location if you want to be central--right off the Via dei Condotti. The hotel is small and charming, and the rooms are nice and clean. And it's a tremendous value given where and what it is. The staff was lovely too--Candy, in particular, made sure to tell us about a car service they offer from and to the airport, and it, too, was exceptional and a great value. We get to Rome once or twice a year, and we will be staying at La Lumiere every time!

Excellent location. Large room and large bathroom (very rare!). Breakfast is also good. Easy access to so many sights and shopping destinations. Close to a laundromat as well (that had drop off service).

The location is great, 2mins down a nice side street full of high end fashion stores and you're at the Spanish Steps. The front of the hotel is most unassuming, just a door and a sign that doesn't inspire much. The reception desk is in a corridor, there is a TINY lift (2 people with rucksacks on and you'll get wedged!) Small hotel, seems like 4 floors of 4 rooms each, floor 5 is a breakfast room, breakfast is limited and basic, 3 choices of cereal, a couple of pastries and some bread. In the room, it's a good size, nice window and electric blind that really helps take the sun's heat out of the room. The streets were thin so no view as such. The beds, are genuinely awful, two singles pushed together but not zipped or attached, spongy mattress, very uncomfortable. Bathroom, would be ok except the shower was broken (see photo) meaning we could have cold, or freezing. The hair dryer, also broken (see photo). We asked for an iron and board to be sent to the room but, despite saying that is possible in the book in the room, we were told that the hotel doesn't keep irons. The TV is small but functional, the remote is missing it's back so taped up, minor quibble but looks bad. The air con though, is great! Very powerful and controllable. The staff are generally good, aside from my first call for the I'll fated iron, which was met with "argh, iron" and then hung up. In summary, if you really want to be close to the Spanish Steps and the hotel isn't important to you.. then it's fair enough, but otherwise... Avoid! (Ps if you look at my review history I'm usually 4*/5* reviews so that tells you I'm not just a negative reviewer)

We ended up staying here because the hotel that we had booked (The Golden Rooms) did not have a record of our reservation (even though we had an email confirming our stay.) Even though arriving in Rome at 10 pm at night with no hotel was stressful, it turned out to be a "blessing in disguise" for we ended up at the lovely La Lumiere. We loved our room. It was a decent size and delightfully decorated. The bathroom was good and the shower was wonderful. The bed was a bit hard, but it was certainly adequate. The staff was super friendly and was incredibly helpful. The breakfast is not fancy but it is more than adequate to get your day started and the cappuccinos were amazing! Lastly, the location could not possibly be better. It is in the center of everything and a quick walk to almost everywhere. We walked to the Pantheon, the Coliseum, the Spanish Steps (very nearby), the Trevi Fountain and more from our hotel room. We would gladly stay here again!

Traditionally decorated rooms give this hotel great character. The rooms are good sized though the bathrooms could do with updating. Plenty of storage space. Excellent location with cafes and restaurants nearby. I would recommend a short break at this hotel.
