Quite honestly, I don't even know where to start... We had an issue with the hotel booking we had arranged and very last minute we needed to change hotels. We chose Demetra Capitolina through a booking site, mainly because it's a 5 minute walk to Termini train station and the photos of the hotel from the site looked quite good. That was our 1st and colossal mistake, believing the photos!! :( We arrived on a sunny Thursday, check-in went smoothly until they started explaining that the hotel key has to be always left at the reception when going out, that the bathroom was private, but external (when booking we REQUESTED en suite) and does not lock from the outside (so basically anyone could have used it) and that Wi-Fi can only be used in the basement for a limited amount of time! Ok, so we started on a bad foot, I said let's at least see the room and shocker, I didn't actually think it could get worse :( Extremely small room, my feeling was that the walls were caving in on us, really bad smell, no AC (so we had to keep the windows open, making for a very noisy room, as the tram passes right next to the hotel and the entire street was extremely noisy), a really small and old TV and a small sink, the double bed was actually two single camp beds linked together and that made for a very uncomfortable night sleep... The bathroom was something straight out of a horror movie: small, moldy, unclean, a barely holding on lock at the door, no vent, rarely cleaned properly (I purposely left something small on the floor near the door, it stayed there our whole 4 nights stay)... To top it all off, the breakfast wasn't really a breakfast, though we weren't expecting much due to the before mentioned experiences, but to stay at a hotel and pay money to eat and drink out of paper plates and plastic cups, to eat stale bread and cereal, drink coffee out of an old machine and juice that wasn't fresh, that seemed almost absurd!!! Finally, the staff was extremely unhelpful and rude, never wanting to help and raising their voices at us, making fun in italian of our requests (which were as basic as wanting a hairdryer and towels) and culminating with the fact that on our last day, they told us that if we leave the room to go have breakfast someplace else, we need to leave the key and they will enter the room and consider we have left our luggage there when checking out.. how in the wolrd do people like this still have jobs? I explained we paid money for our stay and that check-out was stated on the site at 11 so that left us with plenty of time to go eat and come back in time for the check-out, the receptionist started yelling that "no no, you go out you no come back!" So, long story shory, WORSE stay of our lives, please read all reviews before deciding to book here, as to not ruin what could be a great vacation.…
