This room was in a great location. We were aware of the stairs before we got there but just a reminder to those who don’t fancy climbing up three flights of stairs, this place isn’t for you. The room was a bit smaller than other rooms and the bed size was a traditional double. There was also one long pillow for two rather than two separate pillows. The shower worked well and it was hot and the wifi was excellent. It was also next door to a vegan cake place and plenty of vegan restaurants so it receives a tick from me! It was in a great location. Easy to walk to everything and there is a metro nearby (about 10 minutes). Great value for money.

Stayed here for 2 nights when visiting Madrid in May. Never stayed in hostel-type accommodation before but was very pleased with Hostal Loyola. Nice staff and clean, modern rooms. The shared bathrooms were also well-cleaned and everything worked properly. Location is the big positive as it is very close to Gran Via and close to metro lines to take you to tourist points e.g. Santiago Bernabeu. Considering how cheap it was, I can't fault the place.

I really enjoyed my stay here. The staff were very friendly and kept everything very clean. For the quality, they could really charge a lot more. We had a comfortable and spacious room and the location was ideal! I do not agree with the negative reviews here. There are only two bathrooms but they were always clean and usually not fully occupied so I did not find it a problem and the hostel is small and on the third floor but I feel the fire escape route is pretty clear so I am unsure why there are negative reviews. Overall I was delighted with my stay and could have stayed much longer. It had an air bnb feel which was so pleasant. We couldn't have had a nicer hostel experience or met nicer staff.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a window. Madrid is so warm and also the views were lovely.

I came here for a budget 3 night stay in Madrid for which I paid around £60 for 3 nights for a single room without a bathroom. Considering the price and location, I was not expecting much however, I was pleasantly surprised. The room was very clean and the bed was very comfy (room was cleaned everyday). The bathrooms and toilet were always immaculate. The location is what sells the place as it is only a short walk away from the Gran Via. Wi-Fi was working great too.

If you only take one bit of advice about this Hostal then please please take this one...AVOID THIS HOSTAL AT ALL COSTS. After climbing 3 flights of not well maintained stairs we were shown to a small room which offered well worn facilities...tiled floor, light fittings doors, windows and decoration out of a previous century. It did however however have flat screen tele, a fridge but no kettle and it was cleaned and fresh bed linen and towels supplied most days. It looked as though it had a pass certificate from Rentokil so that was a plus!!! My biggest concern would be the "Fire Regulations"...no fire safety instructions and no where to escape to if there ever was a fire. I have stayed in Hostals in Madrid before and have been pleasantly surprised...but not by this one...don't take a chance!!!!

A conveniently located place which is clean (even the shared bathroom is impeccable). Its main downsides are the staff (a moody man which is, while efficient, not a master at customer interaction) and the fact that it's located on a 3rd/4th floor with no elevator. It is definitely a good investment just because of its location a scarce minute from Gran Vía, Madrid's main street and while it's improvable it's a fair trade for its price.

I stayed just one night, while passing through Madrid. I had a room of two with shared bathroom. Bathroom was clean and after each "visit", someone comes and cleans a little bit the bathroom. The room was a little bit small but clean. WiFi was working ok. I would say that for one or two nights is acceptable, and considering the central position of the hostel, is a great value deal. Be careful that the hostel is at 3rd floor in a building without elevator, so get ready to do some sport :)

The room was nice and big, and was around 5 minutes from the Gran Via and metro stations making it easy to get around. They kept the rooms nice and warm at night and it was easy to get in and out. The only "bad" thing I could say would be to check how much you actually owe them as I was over charged when I arrived paying 6€ or so more than I should have.

Comfortable beds, spotless (shared) bathrooms : if you're visiting Madrid on a budget, this is the perfect place; it's a couple of minutes' walk from Gran Via, but surprisingly quiet at night for a city. All this, and even free WiFi...
