Super comfortable, bright, spacious home in a good location by car (easy. on- the doorstep, ofd-street parking) and regular local bus service to town and situated right by a handy walking/running path to Blarney. The rooms are big, simple and tastefully done and in a really good state of repair. Bright, neutral colour schemes, double glazed windows and comfortable beds, modern en-suite bathroom with good shower. Plenty of storage space, tea and coffee and no clutter. Pleasant lobby area and breakfast room off the big family kitchen. Siobhan is the epitome of Irish warmth and hospitality; as indeed are her family, who help with getting the yummy full breakfast served up and cleared away efficiently (I wish my boys were as on-the -ball!). Siobhan had plenty of suggestions for day trips, eating places and was good with practicalities too. This was such a welcoming and comfortable home for my elderly Dad (aged 92) and I for our two nights in Cork; we felt it was exemplary of a good B&B experience. Why use a hotel when you can instead stay in such a pleasant home?

Group of 6 friends, 3 couples. We contacted Siobhan to book for two nights over the marathon weekend after we had been let down by a prior reservation. We were aware that the b&b was closed and this was a favour to open for us…. However!…. €300 per couple for literally just a bed for two nights was absolute extortion. No access to kitchen or cooking facilities (granted a microwave was provided when we asked but not ideal when you’re running marathon to not have access to prepare food in advance, especially when kitchen area was only next door to us and not being used by anybody). Room was fine, bed was comfy, nothing to get too excited about and certainly not €300 worth! Shower was small and very slow to heat. No fresh towels for whole weekend. We certainly wont be recommending or returning, I notice you have defended all other negative reviews you have received over the years, however I don’t feel you can defend ripping people off.

Response from siobhan o leary, Owner at La Cita B&B

Very upset 😡to read this review when we purposely opened up just to accommodate this group as they were let down by a large hotel in the city that charges 3 times what we had charged. You were well aware that it was room only and ye were our only guests. As for the kitchen if your not aware we are a family home and this kitchen is our private space. An apartment with a kitchen and living room may have suited ye better Thats if ye could have gotten one. As for the towels they was plenty left out for yere use. And a basket full upstairs.

Siobhan is the perfect host: kind and helpful and easy to talk to. You can see that she cares about what she does, because she always makes sure that everything is okay and that her guests are having a good time. The house is very beautiful, with a very large kitchen were you can have breakfast and where Siobhan is the queen: she makes jam and sauces and cooks and hosts cooking classes. The bedroom was very pretty and very clean, and had everything that we needed. The thing we liked most was that as soon as we had to go downstairs we knew we could find our host smiling and ready to help. Very friendly environment!! Would highly recommend 5/5

We really enjoyed our recent stay at La City Bed & Breakfast. The location was ideal for exploring Cork, Cobh and Blarney. We were very happy with the quadruple room - very difficult to find accommodation to suit 5 and the host (Siobhan) is lovely - very helpful and friendly. We highly recommend this property to other travelers.

The BB is easily accessible from the highway. We were there for only 1 night. There is a spacious parking area in front of the house. The room is a little tight so it’s best to leave suitcases in the car.The room is well equipped and new.The shower is good with instant hot water shower. The owner Ms Siobhan was a cheerful and friendly lady that makes us feel welcomed. She prepares good breakfast and do it the way we want it.You should stay at Siobhan’s place if you are visiting Blarney Castle.

We were really impressed by this amazing B&B. It exceeded all our expectations. Coming for a quick stop over before travelling on for a family wedding, we were greeted warmly on arrival (we were tired and had travelled a long way) and made to feel at ease and made comfortable at once. Our family room was large, clean and extremely comfortable. The room accomodated us all perfecy; the children had proper single bed each, not a pull out or camp bed in sight! Wonderful home cooked breakfast. Nothing was too much trouble. Such a lovely family and wonderful warm welcome. Highly recommended. Wish I had taken photos!

The hostess was extremely welcoming and friendly and made sure that we felt like family. The facility was very quaint and cozy. It had a very home like atmosphere. Food was great and Siobhan gave us many great tips for touring the local area. The only complaint was that the downstairs rooms that we stayed in were very small. There was not much room for walking or putting luggage. Also, my friends complained that the room they stayed in was cold. The breakfast room was also tight and did not allow very much room between tables/chairs. Although it was not a perfect place, I would recommend it to a friend and would definitely stay there again if in the area.
