The pictures are lovely. The place is worn and dirty. The lobby area is fine. Sometimes the hotel staff looks up from their phones to great you and sometimes not. We stayed in a king room, but it was cramped. There was only 12-15” between the bed and the wall. It was tight for me, but nearly impossible for my husband. The room would have been much better with a queen bed. The walls and floors are dirty. The breakfast was nice but simple, fruit, store bought breakfast pastry, hard boiled eggs and yogurt. The pictures of hot breakfast must have been previously offered. Nothing like that now.

This was our third time staying at Hotel Del Peregrino in Mérida, Yucatán. As for the previous times, we had a lovely stay there. The staff is super welcoming and helpful. They are available to help you with whatever needs one’s have whether it be for tours info, restaurant suggestions or activity recommandations. The rooms are comfy, clean and the AC is a definite advantage, especially for the hot summer months. The location is right in the historic center of Mérida, which is great to discover the Yucatan culture by foot and the beautiful neighbourhood. The traditional and colonial-style of the hotel makes it even more enticing. Highly recommended, and after three time we can now say for sure that this is our go-to hotel whenever in Mérida.

Absolutely beautiful hotel just a few minutes away from the centre of Merida. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted and welcomed with warm smiles and very friendly staff who were more than happy to answer all our questions. We really enjoyed the delicious, traditional Mexican breakfast served every morning and we found the beds to be very comfortable. We would highly recommend this amazing Boutique Hotel to anyone visiting Merida.

The Peregrino hotel is situated in a wonderful location in Merida, close to many excellent restaurants, shops, museums, music and other cultural events. Walking for 5-minutes in any direction and you have a wide variety of amazing choices to select from. The hotel is very charming and extremely clean. But most importantly, you will be greeted with the friendliest and most helpful staff imaginable. Any request was met with a smile and a responsive desire to make our stay more enjoyable, including the delicious complimentary breakfasts. By the end of my stay there, I felt like the owners and their staff were part of my extended family. I cannot recommend this place highly enough.

My friend and I recently visited Merida and we had the pleasure of staying at the Hotel Peregrino. Our experience was absolutely fantastic. The hotel's charming and colorful decor, as well as its original tile floors, created a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. Moreover, its convenient location made it easy for us to walk to nearby restaurants and the Plaza Grande, which was just a few blocks away. However, what truly made our stay special was the exceptional personalized service we received from the staff, as well as the delicious Mexican breakfast that was served daily. I would definitely recommend this hotel and look forward to staying there again in the future.

Were there in late March 2023. Took two rooms. Noy quite good thigs to be said just bad things which actually I hope somehow help to improve: Get there, signed up for two rooms and said be later on that day. Asked us if we wanted to do the breakfast for an additional cost and said yes. When we get back for check in, the guy at the desk knew nothing. An elder guy. Re asked for breakfast. This guy, by the way, was not polite at all. He was too busy eating at all times. So, went to the rooms and got back to him to let him know we had not hot water at all. That already took a cold shower but did not want to tahe a cold shower in the morning. Well, got not fixed. In the morning I came to tell him agarin and sais excuses but first hat to tell him "good morning" like 3 times (in spanish) because he did not answered. Not a nice guy. Also got my door open by the housekeeper without knocking. And thre were kids playing with basket balls bouncing in my room wall.. What a night! BAd experience. Never we'll go back!

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We sincerely apologize for the inconveniences you encountered during your stay in late March 2023. We appreciate your feedback as it helps us identify areas for improvement. We apologize for the miscommunication regarding breakfast and the lack of knowledge from our staff at the front desk. It is disheartening to hear that the service provided by our staff was not up to our usual standards, and we will address this with the team to ensure it doesn't happen again. We understand the importance of hot water and apologize for the inconvenience caused. As an eco hotel, we were test a new system that improved our use of propane by 70% and unfortunately that system failed. We have since made significant changes to that system and it now functioning at 100%. The hotel now has lots and lots of hot water. We deeply regret that you experienced a lack of responsiveness and politeness from our staff. We will conduct additional training to ensure our team members are attentive, courteous, and readily available to assist our guests. Regarding the incident with the housekeeper and the noise disturbance from the children, we apologize for the intrusion and inconvenience caused. We will reinforce our housekeeping protocols and remind our staff to be respectful of guests' privacy. We truly value your feedback and take your concerns seriously. Please know that your comments have been shared with the relevant departments to make necessary improvements. We hope you will consider giving us another opportunity to provide you with the exceptional experience you deserve. Best regards, Jim Steffler Director General

I have downgraded my review after the hotel DELETED my accurate google maps review, no wonder the rating there is so high!! This place is overpriced and poorly run. The location was the best feature of the hotel. It was nice to have breakfast options every day though the quality varied, sometimes very good and sometimes overly salty or greasy. Housekeeping was fine if inconsistent in thoroughness, and yes we tipped daily. There was hot water in the shower for only 3 days out of 2 weeks, we were lucky if it was lukewarm. Part of the reason we chose the hotel at the price we paid was that both the hotel website and booking.com show that there was access to an off-site pool. I double checked this information was on those sites during our stay. When we asked about this halfway through our 2-week stay, we were told this is no longer included and that the only option is a possible paid pass to another hotel pool. This was disappointing but we thought the website was just in the process of being updated. We had also seen others using the jacuzzi on the terrace one evening, so when there were fewer guests around, we were excited to have our chance to use it. When I asked about using it at approximately 8pm, I was told that it is only available to use from 10-6pm. This is very disappointing since no one told us this at check-in, and we were hoping to use it after the hottest part of the day, especially considering the surprise of not having pool access. Very confusing too as the other guests we saw were using it after dark. They also have a photo on their website of the full jacuzzi after dark next to a glass of wine... which is not possible given this stated rule! We are rather disappointed by the combination of these circumstances and feel the website and booking.com should be immediately updated to include the lack of access to a pool, as well as the limited hours of the jacuzzi being shared with guests at check-in. Communication between the management and staff needs to be improved.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback regarding your recent stay at our hotel. We sincerely apologize for the inconveniences you experienced and appreciate your patience and understanding throughout your stay. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed the hotel's location and the availability of breakfast options. However, we understand that there were some inconsistencies in the quality of the breakfast, and we apologize for any dissatisfaction caused. We will address this matter with our kitchen staff to ensure a more consistent and enjoyable dining experience for our guests. I must say that, there is NO POSSIBLE WAY for the hotel or anyone to edit Google comments or reviews, it’s just impossible. All our reviews are from genuine people independent of the hotel. Regarding the hot water issue in the shower, we deeply apologize for the inconvenience this caused during your two-week stay. As an eco hotel, we were test a new system that improved our use of propane by 70% and unfortunately that system failed. We have since made significant changes to that system and it now functioning at 100%. The hotel now has lots and lots of hot water. We understand your disappointment regarding the lack of access to the off-site pool. We apologize for the confusion caused by the outdated information you found, however upon review I can assure you that the hotel’s website nor Booking.com have any information stating that we have a pool. We also apologize for the miscommunication regarding the jacuzzi's operating hours. The hours have now been updated to 9am to 9pm. It is regrettable that you were not informed about the specific timings during check-in. We will reinforce our communication protocols with the staff to ensure that all guests are provided with accurate information upon arrival. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention. Once again, we apologize for the inconveniences you encountered during your stay. We value your patronage and hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future, providing you with an enhanced experience that meets your expectations. If there is anything else we can assist you with, please feel free to reach out to us directly. Thank you for choosing our hotel. Warm regards, Jim Steffler Director General

Stayed here 5 nights on family vacation. Positives include a friendly staff, with high English proficiency, convenient central location, good price, excellent stable wifi and a very good functional AC unit. The power and the water were reliable. It was also very clean and the housekeeping was well done. The on street parking was only an occasional issue, there was almost always a space near the hotel, especially after 5pm. As for the picky complaints: The rooms were somewhat small and cramped and Merida’s heat made lounging on the patio only so-so, and public area furniture was without cushions. We had a squeaky ceiling fan that you had to turn off at night. Merida hard water made the towels and bedding feel a little gritty. The beds are on the harder side. The breakfast was so-so, you have to book a 8am or 9am slot. The substitute breakfast team on Sunday was excellent, the weekday crew was mediocre and we gave up and used the bakery down the street or grabbed a granola bar. (Regrettably there was no easily available local coffee option before 8am for several blocks). Many reviews mention the noise. It’s an older remodeled building, with relatively loose windows and doors and thin walls. You can hear the street, the neighbors tv or water running, etc. fortunately there were very few other guests during our stay, and we were all the way upstairs, but I can see how some rooms would indeed be loud. Finally, there is NO hot water. Desk clerk shrugged. A fellow guest suggested that you take a shower after returning in the afternoon of Merida’s blazing Sun and you won’t notice (he had a point). Many times our vacations involve the hotel only as a place to sleep a few hours before retuning to sightseeing, if you are planning on that sort of trip this place is fine. My family wanted this trip to include a more relaxed itinerary; unfortunately this hotel wasn’t as conducive to relaxation as I would have liked.

This place was outstanding in everything. It is the perfect spot to unload your bags and settle in comfort. Every morning there is a wonderful delicious breakfast that is different each day. They have the best coffee. Our stay was for almost 2 weeks and we ventured out everyday with different activities in the surrounding area. Everyone at the hotel was so helpful and were able to speak english in order to help us out whenever we had questions. The individual rooms were so delightful, so comforting and it had everything we needed for our stay. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone traveling and looking for a place to stay.

The Hotel del Peregrino, where I just stayed, was a wonderful find. The gorgeous cultural motifs of the hotel captivated me immediately. The elaborate designs and brilliant colors provided a relaxed and natural mood. Especially notice the amazingly crafted benches as you walk in : ) This hotel's employees went above and beyond to make my stay pleasurable. They were really pleasant and eager to help in any way they could. They were available to help me with my bags or answer any questions I had about the region. Through chats and advice, they even assisted me in practicing my Spanish in a comfortable and open manner. The location of the hotel was also excellent; it was near many attractions and local markets. The hotel's restaurant was also a highlight, with great cuisine and excellent service. I would strongly suggest this hotel to anybody searching for a genuine and pleasant Yucatecan experience.
