We arrived to the hotel and a child about 13 yrs old was running the front desk alone when we checked in. I explained to him we had reservations and were checking in. He continued to offer rooms to us but again I explained we already had a confirmation for 2 rooms. I tried to show him the booking which he didn’t know what he was looking at. We finally got the room keys & he showed us to our rooms.5 mins later he brings the remote then another 5 mins later he comes to bring us the WiFi codes instead of just giving it to us all during check in. There was a dirty towel in one of the rooms and no towels in the bathroom or no blanket. This matter was brought to the attention of the child in charge so he brought clean towels and removed the dirty one. He also brought a blanket which he said should normally be in the closet. That evening the new man running the front desk stops us on our way in to the hotel and explains that they have an issue with their credit card system so we have to pay in cash for the rooms & we have to do so the following day. By the time we get to our rooms it was 8:45pm so we wanted to shower. No hot water was available. We called the front desk and the same man said he would check on their boilers. Every 10 minutes he was calling and telling me 10–15 more minutes. Until about 10pm and we finally gave in and fell asleep. He told us that they had an issue with a pipe freezing causing the issue with the hot water. It is absolutely unacceptable that they hadn’t figured out this issue prior to our arrival. We had been traveling 24 hours and all we wanted was a hot shower. The following day there’s a new man and a new child at the front desk. We explained the issues to them from the night prior and they said we could talk to the manager after 12pm at the hotel since he would be around and see about getting a discount for the first night due to all of the inconveniences. They also asked us if we had been asked to register and fill out their check-in form which we hadn’t been asked to do so by anyone (they didn’t even ask my name or the booking confirmation #) so they said we could just do it during check out. I asked them about the payment issue and they had no idea what had been explained to us but did let me know that paying in cash was not the only option. We could also do a bank transfer. They also asked if we wanted a cleaning service done and we had declined because our luggage was open. They understood so we went out and returned to the hotel that night. The manager was not around and the same man from the 1st night was running the front desk. He stops us again and lets us know the water issue has been fixed and that we need to pay for the rooms. We asked if we could pay in dollars or CC if their issues were fixed. He said pesos were the only option which was very annoying since we obviously expected to pay via the CC that we used on Booking. We proceeded to tell him that we wanted to speak to the manager to discuss all the issues we had the 1st night and he didn’t allow us to speak to him and told us a discount was not warranted because one of the rooms had the lights left on while we were out and the cleaning lady told him so we were even basically. We asked why they were in that room if we specifically told them we did not want them in there with our stuff out. He said it was her routine to clean daily & he double checks the rooms. So once he “heard her” cleaning that room he advised her to get out, but none of the lights were turned off. If it was that much of a problem why didn’t they turn them off while they were both in the room? Also why was that room dirty upon arrival if it’s cleaned & checked by 2 people? He was very rude, refused to call his manger and then goes on to say he couldn’t discount the room either since we reserved via booking.com because booking takes a fee so had we booked directly through them then they would have offered us a discount. Later that night my shower was cold and the couple that came with us also only had 1 person shower with hot water then it ran out and the last person showered with cold water. We went to pay and ask if we have to do the registration and he says no it’s not necessary when the people prior had said it was. Then they said their issues were fixed so then I tried to pay with card and they back tracked and said their issues were actually still not fixed. So we paid with pesos and I asked for a receipt. He was so shocked I was asking for a receipt. If I’m paying in cash and there’s different people at the front desk each day throughout the day of course I’m asking for a receipt. The next morning we go to check out and the next guy asks me if I’ve paid and I said yes. He then said we were good to go. Shouldn’t they have this stuff noted somewhere? Very rude, unprofessional staff. No one was coordinated and they were definitely not organized. It’s also across the street from a bar blasting music with their doors open all night. I would NEVER recommend this dump to anyone.

When we visited a few weeks ago, there was super loud music that ruined it for us. I’m sure it’s keeping the whole neighborhood awake. In particular on the Thursday with the karaoke. Once staying there, very hard to block it out. Otherwise pretty.

This hotel is very warm, the colonial facilities are very nice and all the staff is kindle and effective. What we loved the most, is the location; it's nearly the downtown of San Cristobal, you can easily get everywhere by walking, but there's a thing to consider, it's near of many bars and pubs, so during the nights music can be heard from the rooms... It includes Wi-Fi service but didn't try it. Rooms are OK and sky TV service is in place; everything is clean and very well maintained, highly recommend this place. Restaurant service and food taste is OK and tours can pick you up from here without problems

We had traveled on a winding 1.5 lane road for almost 7 hours to get to San Cristobal .. and when we arrived.. we were so pleased with the loveliness of the hotel, the super friendly staff and very nicely appointed and very comfortable rooms. There was no air conditioning and that upset me until I realized that the temperature at 2 am and 7,000 feet in October was 3 C. and at 8 am only 12 C. .. Brrrrrr .. who needed A/C ? Not me for sure. We only stayed two nights, but couldn't have asked for a nicer hotel .. and the price in October was so very fair.

In short- beautiful hotel in the center of San Cristobal, the rooms are clean, however lacking some basic facilities to make it more comfortable. Its very much affordable price makes it good value for money. Read below if further information is required. We arrived to the hotel at about 1 am because of a late flight and a long taxi drive from the Tuxtla airport (800 pesos which we shared with two other guys; each payed 200 pesos), and had to wait a few minutes in the rain before someone opened the hotel's gate for us (the main gate is completely closed during the night and a staff member working at night is responsible for opening the gate). The hotel's front desk is actually not staffed during night, however there is a staff member on call who can assist with basic stuff. That same staff member escorted us to our room, which was actually not the room I booked. when I pointed that out to him, he said that he cannot do anything at that stage and we had to wait for the morning when the front desk is staffed. That was a very small room (we barely had place for our bags), and the sink was strangely and inconveniently located in the bedroom. After discussing the issue with the hotel's front desk worker the next day we indeed were upgraded to a big room, with a convenient bathroom, for no additional charge. It takes time for the hot water to emerge so that required some waiting each evening. The beds are comfortable however the bedding is not warm enough for chilly nights without A/C (see below). I assume additional bedding can be asked from the hotel, which we didn't do. We weren't able to operate the TV in our room, however this did not bother us as we didn't have much time to watch it. The wifi in our room (second floor) didn't work so well during the day, and it worked much better during the night/evening. The wifi works very well around the area of the front desk during the whole day. The rooms come without A/C. As it was chilly, I was provided with a heater, which was good enough for us, though the early mornings were a bit difficult due to the cold. Some of the staff speak little English but that was enough for us to manage. The hotel is very central, which was very convenient for us, as we could easily reach all attractions of the wonderful San Cristobal. It should be noted though that this central location comes with a price of not so quiet nights, as the bars and restaurants are open until early morning and the music and the vehicles' horns are present throughout the night until early morning. However this didn't bother us very much. The price includes breakfast, however it is quite spartan and extras (such as eggs etc) are charged separately, though not very expensive. During one of the mornings the kitchen was closed during breakfast time and notwithstanding the front desk persons's efforts, we didn't manage to eat breakfast before we had to head to our tour. Given the fact that we travelled a lot and therefore didn't have the chance to eat breakfast most of the time, this didn't bother us that much. The hotel served complementary tasty hot drinks every evening, which was very kind on its part and much needed given the chilly evenings. The hotel offers the popular tours around San Cristobal and Chiapas, which was very comfortable for us, however after speaking with some other travelers we met along the way we found out that we were overcharged. The gaps weren't very big if converted to USD, however it was not pleasant to find that out. There was also an attempt to overcharge us for the night can drive to Tuxtla airport.

We stayed 4 nights and had a very pleasant experience. The place has a nice feel about it. Service was good, as were the rooms. You can hear the music from nearby bars at night but it didn't bother us. Breakfast is nicely done as well. Recommended.

This hotel is in a really central location, within walking distance of good restaurants, the main sights, cafes and bars. The hotel is opposite a couple of bars which did make it a little noisy for sleeping but it's ok. The staff were friendly and helpful and provided a great map of San Cristobal. The hotel is nice, clean and the rooms have a wooden interior but quite modern too. The only negative was that the room was cold in the evenings due to the cooler temperature of the town and as there is no air con in the room, you can't add any warmth. However, it is definitely worth noting that the bed was so comfortable and the bedding was warm and cosy. After check out, the staff allowed me to leave my bags in a secure room for a few hours. Definitely recommend staying here.

We stayed at this hotel in early September 2015. It's located in the heart of San Cristobal, just a few steps from the main "andador." It's close to cafe's, restaurants, and anything else you may want or need. The breakfast that comes included in the reservation is a bit small, but you can just walk for a minute in any direction and find great restaurants and cafés for cheap. The staff was extremely friendly and the rooms were very clean. It was also pretty quiet throughout our stay, but it seemed that we were the only ones staying in the entire hotel. The hotel staff set up our tour to Palenque and got us a taxi to the airport. They also provide information to other excursions. We'll definitely stay here again :)
