In short- beautiful hotel in the center of San Cristobal, the rooms are clean, however lacking some basic facilities to make it more comfortable. Its very much affordable price makes it good value for money. Read below if further information is required. We arrived to the hotel at about 1 am because of a late flight and a long taxi drive from the Tuxtla airport (800 pesos which we shared with two other guys; each payed 200 pesos), and had to wait a few minutes in the rain before someone opened the hotel's gate for us (the main gate is completely closed during the night and a staff member working at night is responsible for opening the gate). The hotel's front desk is actually not staffed during night, however there is a staff member on call who can assist with basic stuff. That same staff member escorted us to our room, which was actually not the room I booked. when I pointed that out to him, he said that he cannot do anything at that stage and we had to wait for the morning when the front desk is staffed. That was a very small room (we barely had place for our bags), and the sink was strangely and inconveniently located in the bedroom. After discussing the issue with the hotel's front desk worker the next day we indeed were upgraded to a big room, with a convenient bathroom, for no additional charge. It takes time for the hot water to emerge so that required some waiting each evening. The beds are comfortable however the bedding is not warm enough for chilly nights without A/C (see below). I assume additional bedding can be asked from the hotel, which we didn't do. We weren't able to operate the TV in our room, however this did not bother us as we didn't have much time to watch it. The wifi in our room (second floor) didn't work so well during the day, and it worked much better during the night/evening. The wifi works very well around the area of the front desk during the whole day. The rooms come without A/C. As it was chilly, I was provided with a heater, which was good enough for us, though the early mornings were a bit difficult due to the cold. Some of the staff speak little English but that was enough for us to manage. The hotel is very central, which was very convenient for us, as we could easily reach all attractions of the wonderful San Cristobal. It should be noted though that this central location comes with a price of not so quiet nights, as the bars and restaurants are open until early morning and the music and the vehicles' horns are present throughout the night until early morning. However this didn't bother us very much. The price includes breakfast, however it is quite spartan and extras (such as eggs etc) are charged separately, though not very expensive. During one of the mornings the kitchen was closed during breakfast time and notwithstanding the front desk persons's efforts, we didn't manage to eat breakfast before we had to head to our tour. Given the fact that we travelled a lot and therefore didn't have the chance to eat breakfast most of the time, this didn't bother us that much. The hotel served complementary tasty hot drinks every evening, which was very kind on its part and much needed given the chilly evenings. The hotel offers the popular tours around San Cristobal and Chiapas, which was very comfortable for us, however after speaking with some other travelers we met along the way we found out that we were overcharged. The gaps weren't very big if converted to USD, however it was not pleasant to find that out. There was also an attempt to overcharge us for the night can drive to Tuxtla airport. …
