While I didn't stay at Sammy T's, I did stay on the same beach and the resort as it is today is not as it is reflected in the photos. The pool is filled in. At the time I was there (March 2020) the restaurant had been closed for several years. There were no guests staying at the hotel. The property is set on a beautiful beach. There were beach chairs stored under the walkway to the beach and palapas on the beach that were in disrepair.

My husband and I visited for a week in March 2016. Would I visit again? Yes, but only because we now know what we should have known up front then. The bad...???? (not much thankfully) 1. Upon check-in, we were told we the tap water wasn't safe enough to drink, cook with, or even make coffee with. Having known this, we would have bought water at the 'grocery store' we stopped at before checking in. We were supplied with a few bottles of water, but had to go into town and purchase our own the next day. Having learned this, I expected to at least have a large bottled water dispenser in the cabin, but no. We were responsible for finding and paying for safe drinking water. Also know, that if you order a mixed drink, it's not a 1-ounce serving of alcohol... the alcohol is measured in the bottle top. You are still charged full price though. I questioned this the entire week, and only discovered how it was measured on our last week after watching. All this aside, Kenny is a fabulous host and will bend over backwards to do all that she can for you. If you want solitude, peace, and quiet, then this is the place.…

This place is isolation at it's finest. You can tell that it has seen its better days, but still a quaint place to stay. The cabins do get hot in the afternoon but soon cool down after sunset. Kenny is a quality host and the hospitality is great. Supper one night consisted of Lobster caught that afternoon and grouper the next night. Make sure you make plans to eat with Julian in Arthur's Town. Snorkeling right off the beach as well as relaxing. rent a car for the day and drive the island from the one end to the other makes for some sight seeing as well as visiting what other resorts have to offer. The biggest bonus of the trip, DID NOT USE MY CELL PHONE AT ALL :)

Stayed here 2 nights before moving on- the beach was amazing and the attention we received from the manager, Kenny, was outstanding and so personal. But as much as we enjoyed having breakfast on our beach chairs and enjoying Kenny's attention, the rooms were far below standard for the price... and that is understanding that this is a Bohemian Out Island. I believe you could enjoy yourself very much here, but you could do better from a room perspective for your money.

We spent a week at Sammy T's in June during the Rake N Scrape Festival. The hotel is situated just south of Arthurs Town and a car is needed as there is not much around within walking distance. Kenny (the Manager?) is a sweetheart and she took good care of us. We had fun playing with the two on-site pups and playing on their beach. The villas they have are small but we did not spend a lot of time in ours. The location of the resort makes island touring easy as it is right off the main road. If you want to get away everything for a short time, this is the place.

We stayed at Sammy T's Beach Resort from June 4-10th. If you are looking for a place to get away from everything - Cat Island is the place for you. We were able to relax and unwind from the stress of our normal lives. Exactly what we needed. The rooms at the resort are adequate and give you everything you need. It was unfortunate that we hit a time when the weather wasn't the best but that didn't detract from the hotel in the least. We were always able to go to the restaurant/bar area, use the wifi, and play with the puppies. Kenny was so wonderful and made sure every day that we had everything we needed. We were treated like family instead of guests.

This was our second trip to Cat Island. This year we stayed most of our time at a different resort. However we did make a point to return to Sammy T's and it was just as good as last time. Sammy T's sits on an unbeatable part of Cat Island beach. If you are like us and want a relaxing atmosphere on the beach. Look no further. Sammy T's staff makes the place a truly unique experiance. Kenny and Charles go above an beyond every day for their guests. Do not overlook Sammy T's Pack a few books and get busy doing nothing on the beach.

My wife and I have been vacationing at Sammy T's since 2006. The resort is Bahamian Owned and Bahamian Operated !! This is a big deal to us as it should be to anyone that wants to experience the true culture and people of Cat Island. Wonderful property, Wonderful people. If you are seeking a peaceful experience to renew your spirit ... this IS the place for you. The food is so fresh, and prepared with a true love & respect for the ingredients, be sure to try the cracked conch. You Cannot go wrong when you choose Sammy T's ... period! The posts stating otherwise, are either pure fiction or written by people that would be best served by staying on a more commercial Island (Casino).

Stayed here after being asked to leave Greenwood Beach Resort. It was a horrible experience and the people at Sammy T's were so kind to take us on a short notice. We arrived and were treated with respect and kindness by Kenny. She is so great. Her whole family is wonderful and we cannot wait to go back some day. The beach is beautiful. The rooms were great and clean. We were devastated when we were asked to leave Greenwood, but it ended up being the best blessing anyone could have asked for. We felt welcome and comfortable and were treated with the so much respect and kindness. We were the only ones there except for another couple who where on there honeymoon. We took a nature tour with Kenny's husband which was great. Saw baby sharks and turtles and did some snorkeling. The water was beautiful and her husband was awesome. They are truly great people and have wonderful souls. I will never return to Greenwood, but I am thankful to them for asking us to leave when they did because we would have never done the things we did or met the people that we did. All in all it was an awesome experience and I will never for get it.…

My girlfriend and I traveled to Cat Island at the end of January. We stayed at Sammy T's. Before we traveled to Cat Island we were a bit concerned with reviews that we read about Sammy T's on this site. I am here to tell anyone reading that they should ignore any negative reviews they might read about Sammy T's. First and best. The Staff. The staff is excellent. They truly love Sammy T’s and are dedicated to serving the customer. We were on a first name basis with everyone working at Sammy T’s and they bend over backwards to make you happy. The people of cat Island are the same all were very friendly to us, it was clear that we were pasty white northerners when we arrived and by the end of our stay we felt like locals. We even got the cell phone number of the owner of “Da Smoke pot” restaurant. He wanted us to call him the next time we visit Cat Island. The cabins on the property are very clean, very nice cabins. None of them are run down or worn. All of them have great hardwood floors, a full sized refrigerator, flat screen TV with local and Miami channels, great comfortable queen sized bed, about a 4x8 walk in closet. I could go on… In essence all the things you need for a home away from home. The most I could say about the cabins being worn down was that we saw was a chipped tile on the patio out in front and a burnt out light bulb on the ceiling fan. That’s all the time I’m going to spend writing about the cabins because when you go to Sammy T’s you won’t be spending time in the cabin unless you are asleep. The beach is where you will be spending your time. Sammy T’s private beach is spectacular. Flour fine white sand with shaded lounge chairs. A water soooo blue it’s breathtaking. We spent at least 6 hours a day on the beach doing almost nothing. We drank Kalik, read books and enjoyed the sun and gentle sound of the small waves lapping on the beach. That leads me to the included equipment available at Sammy T’s. Snorkel gear, 1 & 2 person kayaks & bikes. All of these things are free for use while you are there. Take advantage of the snorkel gear and kayaks. We did and had a blast exploring the reefs and diving for shells not more than 50 feet off the beach. The food at Sammy T's is excellent. We at out at other places 2 nights while we were on Cat Island. However we agreed that our best meals were had at Sammy T's. Seafood was caught fresh daily and for those non - seafood eaters, burgers, chicken and steak were always available. The price of these meals is also reasonable. Food on the island (At Sammy T’s or any of the other resorts / restaurants) costs about the same. 6-12 for breakfast, 9-15 for lunch, and 15-25 for dinner. Try food from as many places as you can but rest assured you won’t have a bad meal at Sammy T’s. Pro Tip - Wash everything down with Kalik beer (Bahamian beer) probably the best beach beer ever. In closing, go to Sammy T’s, it is an awesome place to relax and have an amazing authentic Bahamian life experience. 4 locals told us that Cat Island is, “the island of nothing to do.” We loved our trip to Cat Island and Sammy T’s. We will be going back next year. Go there soon and experience it for yourself!!!…
