Great hosts, very comfortable spacious accommodation, wonderful environment on a farm with beautiful gardens, close enough to town to visit Dept of Home Affairs as well as the Dlinza forest with its tree top walk where we saw the beautiful Narina Trogon. It is also worth visiting the fort, chapel & craft centre where staff conduct tours.

Dear Ken F, What a lovely review, much appreciated. Nice to know you recommended the great places Eshowe has to visit as a tourist, and saw some special birds in the Dinza Forest. Hope you will return in Protea -picking season from April onwards, for a real farm treat! Kindest regards.

Thank you to our lovely and extremely hospitable and attentive host, Jane, for a very memorable stop over. Like previous reviews mention, the gardens are remarkably gorgeous, accommodation are spacious and comfortable and you are treated to delightful fresh fruit, high quality biscuits, hot chocolate as well as a free car wash. Even the farm pets were welcoming and a treat on their own, especially to our children. We also felt safe, despite the rural setting of the property. Keep up the good work Jane.

We are from Canada and we were visiting family in South Africa. We had a very long road trip so decided to book Chase Guest House for the night to break up the journey. If we had known how amazing our experience would be we would have planned to stay much longer! Upon our arrival we were met by the friendliest hostess you could ever ask for. Jane greeted us with a friendly smile and showed us around the charming farm house. She took our son to the kitchen and showed him the important things like where the biscuits and hot chocolate were 🙂 After dark Jane popped over to check in on us and brought us a bottle of the most delicious wine and the biggest avocado I have ever seen! We put that avo on toast in the morning and it fed all 5 of us! In the morning before we left we walked around the beautiful gardens with our coffee. What a magical peaceful place. As we loaded up our vehicles to go we noticed that our cars had been cleaned. I have never experienced this kind of 5 star service in my life. On our way out Jane met us at the gate to say goodbye, wish us a safe journey and give us some of the most delicious sweet bananas we ever tasted. The avocado and the bananas were grown on the property. Thank you so much for everything Jane. We hope to be back one day and spend more time there. Our one night stay there was one of the highlights of our whole trip!

A really relaxing place with gorgeous gardens to enjoy. Jane is the most wonderful host, checking up on you and making sure you are comfortable. The guesthouse is clean, quiet and comfortable. It is situated just out of town so you are close enough should you need anything. The garden birds are a delight so it is a must stay if you are coming for a birding visit to Dlinza forest.

We were so fortunate to have been able to book the garden cottage at Chase Guesthouse. What a wonderful experience! The garden cottage is cleverly laid out and perfect for two people. The garden is magnificent even for non-gardeners like myself. Those things would make it worth a visit on its own, but the hosts' considerate hospitality and small touches puts it firmly on the list of "places to visit again". Everything from really good biscuits in our room, to a thermos of hot water for tea during load shedding, to unexpectedly washing our car, which was quite dirty from dirt road trips the previous days, to directions for a beautifully scenic drive to our next destination. Thank you so much, Jane and Jonno!

We stayed in the 3 bedroom cottage for 4 nights. It was a real home from home, with a big balcony facing onto the garden. Janey was an exceptionally caring and considerate hostess, who made sure that we were comfortable in her spotless and well-equipped cottage. The outings that she recommended (a walk with a birding guide through the forest which surrounds the town; a visit to the local museum and a day trip to see “Timeless Zululand” with Henry Bird) made our visit to Eshowe a memorable and very special time. We also enjoyed Janey’s tour of the beautiful proteas thriving on their farm, and the visit to the busy packing shed where flowers and enormous bunches of bananas are cut and prepared for the market. The breakfast, served in the main house, was superb and beautifully presented. And enjoyed in a room with an unhindered view of hills stretching as far as the eye can see. No wonder Eshowe was the favored place of Zulu kings!

We spend 4 nights at The Chase in June 2019 for our son to ride the IMPI Hard Enduro outside Eshowe. Jane was an amazing hostess who anticipated our every need. We took long walks around the sugarcane fields and enjoyed watching the new calves in the field. The Chase is well equipped and its location to Eshowe couldn't be better. The next time we are headed to Eshowe we will definitely try and stay with Jane at The Chase again.
